（1）比利时马斯河谷事件：1930年12月，比利时马斯河谷工业区，排放的工业有害废气和粉尘对人体造成综合影响，一周内近60人死亡，市民中心脏病、肺病患者的死亡率增高，家畜死亡率也大大增高。

（2）美国洛杉矶烟雾事件：本世纪40年代美国洛杉矶的大量汽车废气在紫外线照射下产生的光化学烟雾，造成许多人眼睛红肿、咽炎、呼吸道疾病恶化乃至思维紊乱，肺水肿。

（3）美国多诺拉事件：1984年10月，美国宾西法尼亚洲多诺拉镇的二氧化硫及其氧化物，与大气粉尘结合，使大气产生严重污染，造成5911人暴病。

（4）英国伦敦烟雾事件：1952年12月5—8日，英国伦敦由于冬季燃煤引起的煤烟性烟雾，导致4天时间内4000多人死亡，两月后又有8000多人死亡。

（5）日本水俣病事件：1953年--1968年，日本熊本县水俣湾，由于人们食用了含汞污水污染的海湾中富集了汞和甲基汞的鱼虾和贝类及其他水生物，造成近万人的中枢神经疾病，其中甲基汞中毒患者283人中有60余人死亡。

（6）日本四日市废气事件：1961年，日本四日市由于石油冶炼和工业燃油产生的废气，严重污染大气，引起居民呼吸道疾病骤增，尤其是哮喘病的发病率大大提高，形成了一种突出的环境问题。

（7）日本的爱知糠油事件：1963年3月，在日本的爱知县一带，由于对生产米糠油的管理不善，造成多氯联苯污染物混入米糠油，人们食用了这种被污染的油之后，造成13000多人中毒，数十万只鸡死亡的严重污染事件。

（8）日本富山的痛痛病事件：1955年--1977年，生活在 日本富山的人们，因为饮用了含镉的河水和食用了含镉的大米，以及其他含镉事物引起痛痛病，就诊患者258人，其中死亡者达207人。

当然环境问题还不只这些，如乱伐森林、大量排放温室气体等等无一不是人类对自然界的无知而自掘坟墓。的确，环境问题每时每刻地困扰着整个世界。然而，这一幕幕悲剧又是谁一手导演的呢？是人类。当灾难再度落到了人类自己身上，大自然对人类无休止报复时，人类终于觉醒了，明白了环境保护的重要性。人类如果想征服自然，就必须尊重自然。对于改造自然理应慎之又慎，又要大刀阔斧，勇于实践和改良，才能控制自然，使自身利益与自然协调发展。

面对我国严峻的环境问题，我们绝不能重蹈西方发达国家“先污染，后治理”的覆辙。“先污染，后治理”是十分不明智的选择，其治理的代价很高。我们既要加速发展，摆脱环境问题对我国经济的制约，又要贯彻以防为主，防治结合的方针来保护环境。

My university life has been one of the most colorful parts of my life. I will never forget the day when I first stepped into the university. At that very moment, I was impressed immediately by the beautiful campus, the enthusiastic students and the good learning atmosphere. I fell in love with the campus at once.

First, studying on the campus gives me lots of pleasure. After some very arduous military training, I became absolutely absorbed in my studies. Different from high school courses, the courses in university are specific and interesting. I can get information not only from teachers in class, but also outside of class, such as in the library, on the Internet and so on. These courses arouse my insatiable desire for knowledge and make me learn and digest as much as I can. I was a volunteer as well as a disseminator of our splendid culture. There was no doubt that I came across many difficulties at first, such as humid weather, language barriers and so on. 我还做我们家低碳生活的监督者，我爸爸非常怕热，天一热就打开空调，我就提醒他说：“爸爸，我们住在山里，打开窗户，既进来自然风，又能呼吸到天然氧气…”话没说完，爸爸早已将空调关闭;我爸爸出行自驾车习惯了，出去买菜也爱开车，我便和他约法三章，“每天要多走路少开(乘)车，买菜更不能开车。

”爸爸笑着对我说;“对!低碳生活应该从小做起，从每一个人做起”。低碳生活只是一种态度，而不是能力，只要我们重视它，每一个人都能做到。从小做起，从我做起，从现在做起。节约一滴水、一度电、少开一天车、少用一个塑料袋，为我们的家园天更蓝、水更清、山更绿、空气更清新做贡献。

The International Childrens Day (ICD) is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on June 1 each year.

The ICD had its origin in the World Conference for the Wellbeing of Children in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925. It is not clear as to why June 1 was chosen as the ICD: one theory has it that the Chinese consul-general in San Francisco (USA) gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in 1925, which happened to be on June 1 that year, and also coincided with the conference in Geneva.

June 1 has since been observed as the ICD by numerous countries, especially by Communist countries; in the Western world the ICD is usually celebrated on other days of the year (if at all)， and there is often little public awareness about these celebrations. (See the section on Germany below for further discussions.) Consequently there is sometimes a misperception that June 1 as the ICD was a Communist invention. Nonetheless, in recent years even some groups within the United States started observing the ICD on June 1.

In opinion, to protect environnt, the governnt st take even re concrete asures. First, it should let people fully realize the iortance of environntal protection through education. My grandparents believed you were either honest or you werent. There was

or who might even be smarter than you are. Be honest and open about who you

really are. People who lack genuine core values rely on external factors--their

looks or status---in order to feel good about themselves. Inevitably they will

do everything they can to preserve this facade,but they will do very little to

develop their inner value and personal growth.

So be yourself. Dont engage in a personal cover-up of areas that are

unpleasing in your life. When its tough, do it tough. In other words, face

reality and be adult in your responses to lifes challenges.

Self-respect and a clear conscience are powerful components of integrity

and are the basis for enriching your relationships with others.

Integrity means you do what you do because its right and not just

fashionable or politically correct. A life of principle, of not succumbing to

the seductive sirens of an easy morality,will always win the day. My

grandparents taught me that.

I’m a 20 year-ol d boy, and the following is my story.

A month after I graduated from high school in August, 2013, I was coming home from swim_practice in the training centre of the city and was involved in a car accident. I was so seriously injured that I was in a coma for more than two months at Prince Georges Hospital.

I suffered a lot from the experience of dying eight times during my coma and I couldn’t open my mouth to talk or to communicate when I eventually came around. At that time, it seemed that walking was never going to happen again due to all the extreme injuries. Just like my body, my dreams were completely destroyed. But I was not going to let my injuries stop me from realizing my dreams．

After receiving a total of 15 operations and 36 blood transfusions, I had to make every great effort to learn to talk, eat, walk, shower, and live on my own again. When I was out of hospital,_I still had to go to outpatient therapy in Waldorf, Maryland. After I spent a few months in a wheelchair,_I took baby steps to walk on my own. It was a miracle that
