It is quite usual that one meets failures, for ones life can never be

plain sailing. However, diffhrent people hold diffhrent attitudes towards

failure. Some people think it a heavy blow to fail in achieving something and

they can not endure failure. When they meet failure, they will be seriously

dejected and can never pluck up their courage to try again. However, others

think it natural to meet failures in ones career. Therefore, they are

psychologically prepared. When they meet failures, they will not be frustrated.

Instead, they will continue to meet new challenges. As to me, Im in favor of

the latter view. Failure is really a terrible thing but it is also the mother of

success. If one draws lessons from failures, in most cases he will get success

in the future. Furthermore, ones life can never be smooth sailing; it must be

full of difficuhies and setbacks. If one is daunted by difficuhies and

frustrations, he will always be a failure. However, if one holds a positive

attitude toward failure, he will overcome difficulties and frustrations to win

As everyone knows, stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is

no way to avoid it. As the pace of modern life continues to increase, we are

always feeling on the go from morning till night. And it is hard to slow down.

Therefore, stress goes hand in hand with the life in a competitive society.

Different people, however, think of stress quite differently. Some believe

that stress is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. They are of the

opinion that a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give

purpose to life. Others argue that stress contributes to one’s mental decline

and hence endangers his health. According to them, relaxation, the opposite of

stress, is essential for a healthy mind and body.

Personally, I’m in favor of the former view. I think it is impossible to

avoid stress when one is entirely devoted to the career he pursues. In my

opinion, it is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor

performance and ill health.

长城，是我早已向往的去处。暑假里，我如愿以偿饱览了中华民族古老的长城风光。 The Great Wall is where I have already longed for.In the summer vacation, I wished to enjoy the ancient Great Wall scenery of the Chinese nation as expected.

八达岭耸立在北京西郊，远望起伏连绵，近看山岭陡峭。长城盘旋在山梁上，像腾飞的龙。站在长城上往下看，只见停车场的一辆辆轿车如甲虫，一个个行人如蚂蚁;往上仰望，蓝天白云，烽火台傲然挺立。登长城看起来容易，走起来气喘吁吁，好不容易才走到好汉坡，大家都累得汗流满面。

妈妈说：“不到长城非好汉，到了长城不自满。”听了妈妈的鼓励，我又坚持往上登，终于登上了八达岭长城高处--烽火台。爸爸告诉我：这是古代秦朝，为了防御匈奴的入侵，劳动人民用肩挑手扛，用砖石砌成的。以后逐渐连成了万里长城。我们的心情都很激动，从不同角度，选取不同的景点，拍下了10多个镜头。

自秦始皇开始，修筑长城一直是一项大工程。据记载，秦始皇使用了近百万劳动力修筑长城，占全国人口的1/20!当时没有任何机械，全部劳动都得靠人力，而工作环境又是崇山峻岭、峭壁深壑。可以想见，没有大量的人群进行艰苦的劳动，是无法完成这项巨大工程的。

长城连续修筑时间之长，工程量之大，施工之艰巨，历史文化内涵之丰富，确是世界其他古代工程所难以相比。中国近代伟大的民主革命先驱孙中山评论长城时说：“中国最有名之工程者，万里长城也。……工程之大，古无其匹，为世界独一之奇观。”美国前总统尼克松在参观丁长城后说：“只有一个伟大的民族，才能造得出这样一座伟大的长城”。所以说，长城作为人类历史的奇迹，列入《世界遗产名录》，当之无愧.

长城，是我们中国的一条长龙，是见证中国发展的有效见证。所以我们要到长城去玩。这也验证了“不到长城非好汉”的含义。
