Dear Sir,

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF)

with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career

planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business

education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least

one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall

and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might

be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I

belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in

September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of

the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to

apply for the scholarship?

本人姓王，叫王麒涵，一般般的身高，一般般的体重，是一个再平凡不过的学生了。“老王”是他们给我起的绰号，当然，与杨绛先生笔下的“老王”可是没有一点关系的。

单从外表来说，我有一个异于常人的特点——短发!而且是从出生到如今，我的头发长度从未超过下巴，不过短度倒是一直在刷新纪录。但是如果将我放在三中，那这也算不上什么特点，这里短发女生太多，大家早已司空见惯了。再说面容，前几天我换了一副眼镜，配上这标志的短发，竟然有人叫我“藤野先生”!算了，能成为鲁迅笔下的“红人”我就暂且接受了吧。

如果说非要找我的特点——损人算是其一了!不知为何，一向语文落后的我在吵起架来嘴如机关枪，一颗颗子弹飞出去，直击要害，要么将他人逗得哄堂大笑，要么将人杀到片甲不留。我想这一特点应与遗传有关，我家人讲话也向来是语不惊人死不休，几代基因的传递到我这只剩一把“机关枪”了!不鸣则已，一鸣惊人!

正是这“机关枪”铸就了我如麻纠缠的心理。扫射子弹往往不经意间杀倒一片，刀剑伤人。新伤旧伤算一起，每每逞口舌之快后，心中麻绳便要乱上几分，一会儿觉得伤人太很，一会儿又觉得太留情面。有时损过别人，别人没在意，我却要凌乱几天，倒惹得别人反来开导我，让我很是无奈。

当然，有时我真的冲动了，那“机关枪”过后便是“迫击炮”了，打起架来我更是不留情面，炮弹飞出炸毁一片。所以为了遵循“共产主义精神”，我便渐渐有了克制的习惯，尽量少开枪，更要杜绝开炮，以防下手过狠，再闹出些不和平的事件来，就不完美了。

如今我已年过十三，若想真正控制这“机关枪”与“迫击炮”，再待上几十载的年岁吧!

I am twenty-three years old and have an honors degree in Botany from Bath University. Since leaving university I have been working in a research laboratory but my contract comes to an end in six weeks. 去岁，父亲身体欠佳，母亲决心还乡，收拾潦草，行走匆忙。吾亦于同年入新学，现居海林，寄身异地，父母不近，甚是想念。八载兜兜转转，身边竟无一亲友。

父甚爱饮酒，却因病不得戒，偶尔生馋，细品小口，闭目回味，甚是引人发笑;母亲酷爱歌舞，过往常舞于厅中，现却少尔。家无钱财之源，虽不至于短褐穿结，箪瓢屡空，却也是一筹莫展。

吾生性不喜多愁善感，过去之事更不会怀念，虽一路不平，却又耐我几何，吾不喜世俗，不戚戚于贫贱，不汲汲于富贵，常感足矣，便是安矣，以乐其志，虽言不雅行，却其心向善，未见人外人，不知天外天，只愿闯一闯，逝时已无悔。

There is only one spring festival in a year, and this years Spring Festival has just passed. Its a little sweet with a busy time.

Because we used to live with grandma, now we have bought a new house, but we still have to spend the holiday with grandma. On the morning of thirty, we returned to grandmas home with a family of three. My father and I together the Spring Festival couplets character, "continues to be a blessing to prove. Today mother took me to skate. I was very happy. But I hadnt expected I

fell down as soon as I got in. Today I didnt know why my two feet were out of

control. If I wanted to head east， they would head the opposite. I fell down

from time to time. My hands and face were all dirty. I thought maybe it was

because that I hadnt skated for a long time.

On my way home， I thought that whatever one wants to do， he must work hard

Planting Trees植树

It was fine on March 12, 201x. I got up early that day. All the students in our school went to the hill to plant trees.

We arrived at the hill at eight oclock. The teacher asked each of us to plant at least six trees. Then we started digging, planting and watering. We all worked so hard that we could finish our tasks ahead of time. Among us,Wang Lin, our monitor set a good example for us. Though he was ill, he worked harder. When he finished his task, he went on to help others without even a little rest. He was wet all over after work. "I must learn from him," I said to myself . I do not know the reason why some people want to get up late。 They will

never have the opportunity to enjoy (of enjoying) the fresh air and calmness of

the morning。 This is indeed a quite regrettable thing。To rise early is a good

habit (which) we should cultivate。 Why? Because the best time when we can pursue

our studies is in the morning。 In addition， early rising is also good to our

health。 I hope that everybody our knows the reason why we must rise early。

Following the rules can make the world in order, so that everyones time

wont be wasted. But there are always some people try to break the rules, just

to show how different they are, some even think it is cool to do it. Recently, a

young guy was riding his sliding plate in the railway station. He ignored the

staffs warning and just kept the way he was. He even shouted at the staff. At

last, when policeman came, he apologized and promised would not do it again.

What a rude boy. He only thought about himself and ignored the rules. What he

did wasted everybodys time. Breaking the rule only got himself a bad

reputation.

Our shool， Wuhan Heping Middle School， lies in the center of Wuhan city。 It was just built and has the perfect size。 The school yard is two hundred meters long， one hundred meters wide， and is surrounded by trees。

When you walk throught the front gate， there is a huge garden that greets you with every kind of natural things。 To the left is the school library in which there are more than 100， 000 books。 To the right is the experiment building。 In the very middle of the school yard stands the teaching building that stretches for one hundred and fifty meters。 This teaching building has four floors with the teachers offices at either end of each floor。 Standing on the top of the teaching building， you can see a flower bed。 Behind the teaching building is a large playground on the right side。 The students often do sports here after class。 To the left lies the dining hall which can hold 500 people。 This is our school， a beautiful one。

从三年级开始，书就已经成了我的命。故事书、作文书、小说……不管什么书，我都会一股脑儿拿起来就读。不管作业有多少，事情有多忙，我都会挤出一点时间来看书。也正是因为这样，在我的脑海里积累了许多好词好句，而且我也坚持每个星期写一篇日记，因此，我对作文有很大的兴趣，语文成绩也比较理想。

光阴似箭，日月如梭，我从一个只有51cm高的小婴儿长成了162cm的青春少年。回忆起儿时的一幕幕，经常会有很多难以忘怀的往事浮现在眼前……

记得那一年，我只有两岁多，却把奶奶“弄丢了”！

那天，我与奶奶缓缓走在珠江路的人行道上。我爱“不走寻常路”，在台阶上走上走下，奶奶则一直在人行道上。很快，奶奶拐入了一条林荫小道，我却没有跟上去，依然沿着台阶蹦上跳下。然后，然后……然后我就发现了一个颇为严重的问题！奶奶呢？奶奶哪儿去了？我只好沿着马路回家去了，一见到妈妈，我就冒出了一句当时无比经典的一句话：“妈妈，我把奶奶弄丢啦！”

转眼间，我的幼年飞逝而去，迎面走来的是我的童年。

草地上，我，欢快地跑着，笑着，像一直快乐的小麻雀。突然，伸着手臂学小麻雀飞行的我被绊了一下，瞬间摔了了个大跟头。可我没有哭闹，爬起来照样“飞行”。童年的我，快乐勇敢。

在快乐中，我又走过了懵懂的童年，成长为一位稳重的少年。

我叫朱陈昱涵，名字的来历不想过多解释，爸妈取的。

出生于2005年4月26日的我今年13岁了，刚步入初二。

我的童年怕是个假童年。小时候我记性差，模样傻，胆子小。拥有这些特性的我在老家常被小我一岁的表妹揍得落花流水。这在我幼小的心灵中形成了阴霾，让我认为所有人都很强，我都打不过。其实，只是表妹太能打而已。上了幼儿园，定居厦门，回老家的次数变少了。远离表妹的“淫威”，加上周末会到部队看望老爸，受部队风气的影响，我胆子逐渐大了起来。甚至在幼儿园里和几个高又壮的孩子组成了风光一时的“幼儿园黑恶势力”，还与老师发生过不愉快。

幼儿园过得很快，转眼间便进入小学了。二实小前三年我只活跃于小圈子，埋头苦干，成绩不错，朋友不多但关系不弱，也算过得有声有色。一进入四年级，相较前三个年级，节奏快了很多，成绩曾一度下滑，一度低迷，还好遇到“知音”小付。两人臭味相投，磕磕碰碰中，四年级的低谷期也就熬过去了。

五年级可以说是我这短暂的人生经历中最精彩的一年。结交挚友小白，打快板，当主持，进话剧团，当上班干部，成绩回升，遇到第一位“伯乐”林大班主任……我风骚的身影在班级、年段、全校大放异彩，人际交往的圈子也越来越大。我如同一颗红巨星一般，迅速增大，能量增多，越来越亮，越来越亮……

可红巨星的缺点也就是灭得快。五年级蓄力用完，六年级时便显示出我的诸多不足。我也为自己的张狂和刚愎自用付出了很大的代价，只能在主持时和校外话剧团巡演时才能看到我五年级优秀的模样。

我有些固执，有些强迫症，十分恋旧，喜欢看书，无法自拔。六年级的经历让我在初中时收敛了不少，还蒙了个二号，死赖着，尽量不掉下来，又逐渐变得没什么声响，变化太大，太多了。

白嫩长发少年变成了莲花中学初一13班光头老爷们会的一位名誉会员，挽回2号的位置和在壮汉群中求生成为了我目前的目标。

年轻的我，张狂的我。

新的开始也象征旧的结束。我很恋旧，不过也会在新的篇章中续写属于我的传奇或平凡的故事。
