Getting Ourselves Worked Up

Our capacity to cope successfully with lifes challenges far outstrips our capacity to feel nervousness. Yet in the weeks, days, and hours leading up to an event that we believe will test our limits, we can become nervous. While we may have previously regarded ourselves as equal to the trials that lie ahead, we reach a point at which they near and our anxiety begins to mount. 星期天，我去了乡下看望爷爷奶奶，无事可干的我竟然心血来潮教爷爷说起英文了。

下午，我闲着的没事就问爷爷：“爷爷，你小时候上过学吗？”

“没有，我小时候家里穷，没钱上学，只好种地。”

没上过学！这一下让我想到了一个妙不可言的好主意——教爷爷说英文。反正闲着也是闲着，干脆让爷爷也增长点外国知识。

我便对爷爷说了这件事，爷爷笑着说：“好啊、好啊，孙女教我学英文。”于是，我从最基本的教起，我大声念了一句：“Hellow”。爷爷笑哈哈地跟着说：“哗啰”。我纠正道：“是Hellow，不是哗啰。再跟我念一遍，Hellow”。爷爷还是笑嘻嘻说成了“哗啰”。我有点生气了，转过身去不理睬爷爷。爷爷似乎知道我不高兴了，不知从哪来变出来一个红彤彤的大苹果，伸到我的面前对我说：“哗啰，吃‘冰果’喽！”。估计爷爷想说苹果的英文，可是又不会说，所以自己瞎编了一个，读成了“冰果”。这下我忍不住“扑哧”一声笑了出来，我从爷爷手里拿了苹果，我看了看苹果，大口大口地吃了起来。

“甜！不过爷爷，苹果的英文叫Apple”我说。

“安破。”爷爷乐呵呵跟着学了一句。我也不知道为什么，这次我没生爷爷的气。倒觉得爷爷真有意思。

这次教英文虽然效果不佳，但能换回来我和爷爷的欢笑，我觉得挺值得！
