初冬，我在街上花钱买了两只小鸡，一只乳白色，一只橘黄色。买了它们满以为妈妈也会像我一样高兴，可一进门，妈妈就不高兴的说：“你怎么把这小东西买回来 啦？他会冻死的。”我不以为然，我决心要把它们养活。我先把它们放在地上，又拿来小米喂它们，可它们只是叽叽叽地叫，不肯吃。妈妈走过来说：“天气冷，它 们冻得顾不上吃了。”我仔细一看，果然，它们冻得直发抖。于是，我把它们放在手心上，它们才叽叽叽地吃起来。晚上，我在桌前写作业，小鸡在旁边并不吃我给 它们的小米，总是叽叽叽地叫。每办法，只好把它们放在我的棉衣里，它们才不叫了。我安心地写完作业，把它们拿出来，它们又开始叫了，我只好跟它们“同床共 枕”。

总算熬到开暖气的那一天了，房间变暖了，小鸡的羽毛也长了。晚上，我把它们放在盒子里，怕它们跑了，就在上面又蒙上了一层布。结果第二天，小鸡闷死了。我伤心的哭了，并且一连好几天都很伤心。

我曾经被赵忠祥伯伯主持的《动物世界》所感动，希望自己长大以后，为保护动物做宣传。我也曾被那些铺杀动物的不法分子所激怒，为那些无辜被害的动物流泪。 有一次，我在电视上看到公安局抓获一批动物皮的犯罪分子，既高兴，又伤心，伤心的是有那么多的动物被他们残忍的杀害了，高兴的是公安局的叔叔终于把那 一伙惨无人道的分之抓获了，侥幸生存的一批动物可以得到保护了。

这就是我，一个喜欢动物，爱护动物的小女孩。

Animals Need Protecting

It is suggested that people have been aware of the issue--lack of preservation for endangered spieces, animals and plants, but as you see , they placed little efforts to cope with the problem.despite the versatility and intricacy of instruments , I would pore over some of the most striking ones and offer alternatives afterwards.

One of the major reasons , causing peoples inocence of protecting animals, is that the government did not function well as an educator, arosing peoples initiative in shielding wild animals, which led to the consequence that people do not know their responsibility to prevent animals from dangers, and specific knowledge in guarding them. what is equally important as the reason mentioned above is that media did not meet our satisfaction to inform the mass of the emergency which is crutial in arousing peoples conciousness to keep animals safe.

In spite of the serious problem, measure leading to profound improvement still can be taken. owning to the fact that funds are insufficient in some developing countries, developed countries or international organizations should shoulder more burden -- finacing them in order to capacitate them to accompolish the protection of animals. at the same time, education in telling people the way to make animals harboured ought to be focused on, thus resulting in peoples better awareness in the camouflage of our pla#from cutest creatures.

It is belived by me that if correct actions are taken to preserve animals, any kind of them will be far away from extinction forever.

When the Arctic Ocean freezes over in the autumn, polar bears set off in search of their favorite meals: fatty ringed seals and bearded seals. By the summer, the sea ice begins to melt and break apart. Deprived of access to the tasty seals, polar bears spend the summer fasting. At least, thats whats supposed to happen. As the planet warms, the warmer ice-free season is getting longer and longer. So whats a hungry bear to do?

Scientists once thought that polar bears might survive by supplementing their pinniped diet by turning to terrestrial foods like snow geese, their eggs and caribou.

"Weve had this debate in the literature about whether terrestrial foods are nutritionally relevant to polar bears during the on-land season when the ice has melted."

University of Alberta biologist Nick Pilfold.

"And weve known for a long time, going back to research in the early 70s, even going to back to early explorer logs, that polar bears will consume terrestrial based foods. But the debate was always whether those foods actually add up, energetically." In other words, do these substitutes provide enough nutrition to make up for the lost seals?

To find out, Pilfold and his colleagues estimated the weight lost each day by polar bears in the wilds of western Hudson Bay during the ice-free season, when they could ostensibly be chowing down on terrestrial foods. Then they compared that to the weight lost by bears that are temporarily held in Manitobas Polar Bear Alert Program.

While captive, the bears do not eat. They drop about one kilogram each day. But the wild bears, who had access to the Arctic snack bar, lost the same amount of weight each day. The results are in the journal Physiological and Biochemical Zoology.

"Which is really saying that the terrestrial foods do not have dense enough energy to offset the mass loss. So this idea that bears can just switch from eating sea ice–based food to land food and thats going to help supplement against longer ice-free seasons, that really doesnt show up in the data."

The problem is that polar bears evolved to rely on the marine diet.

"The food on land is protein and carbohydrate based, and the food the polar bears really focus on is fat. Fat is the name of the game for these bears; theyre highly adapted to absorbing that fat into their system and putting it onto their body as body mass, so they can fast on it later on. And the only thing thats going to provide them with that type of fat are marine mammals. And they can only access those marine mammals when theres sea ice."

Adult males can go eight months without food. But younger, sub-adult bears, which are no longer nursing and must hunt, cant last as long without sea ice. So as the Arctic warms, younger polar bears will disproportionately die out. Leaving the species survival in doubt.

“通过上世纪70年代初的研究，还有早期的探险者日志，我们很早以前就知道，北极熊会以陆地食物为食。但是辩论的焦点在于，这些食物是否能增加北极熊的能量。”换句话说，这些替代食物能否为北极熊提供足够的营养，弥补不能进食海豹带来的损失?

为了解开这个疑惑，皮尔福德及同事对西哈德逊湾荒野地区的北极熊在无冰季期间每天失掉的体重进行了估算，从表面上看，北极熊在这段时间食用了陆地食物。随后，他们将这一数据与通过马尼托巴北极熊预警计划暂时捕得的北极熊所失掉的体重进行了对比。

在被关期间，北极熊不吃东西。它们的体重每天大约下降1公斤。虽然野生北极熊能享用北极“小吃”，但是它们的体重每天也同样会下降1公斤。这一研究结果发表在《生理学和生化动物学》期刊上。

“显然结果表明，陆地食物不能为北极熊提供足以抵消大量损失的能量。所以，北极熊可以从食用海冰下面的食物转向食用陆地食物，并帮助它们对抗日益延长的无冰季这个观点，并没有在这项数据中得到证明。”

问题是，北极熊进化成了依靠海洋食物的动物。

“陆地食物以蛋白质和碳水化合物为基础，而北极熊需要的食物以脂肪为主。脂肪是这些熊真正需要的东西;它们高度适应的情况是，将脂肪吸收进它们的系统中，然后把这些脂肪放在身上以增加体重，这样它们之后就可以依靠这些脂肪来度过禁食期。唯一能提供给北极熊这种脂肪的就是海洋哺乳动物。但是它们只能在有海冰时食用到这些海洋哺乳动物。”

成年北极熊可以8个月不进食。但是小一些的未成年北极熊已经不再被哺育，它们必须要去猎食，可是它们不能在漫长的无冰季期间一直不进食。所以，随着北极地区变暖，较小的北极熊将会大批死亡。这使这些物种的生存成为问题。

这个世界上不仅仅是人类，还有许多的动植物，成千上万的动植物才组成这丰富的世界，我们才能看到这五彩斑斓的世界。现实世界中，人类总是一副高高在上的姿态，自认为自己是这个世界的主宰者，可是人类的这种想法是愚蠢的，人类只是万千世界的一小粒尘埃，怎么能和这大千世界相提并论呢！我们人要与其他的动植物和谐相处，共同进步，共同发展，这样才有利于我们的世界进步，社会发展。

人类的贪婪造成了生态的不平衡，人类大肆捕杀各种保护动物，严重破坏了我们地球上的生态平衡。许多种动物已经成为濒临物种，朱鹮，全球已不剩下超过20只；白犀牛，早已经灭绝；各种植物也已经消失在地球上，后代的孩子们想要再看到它们只能在电视机中或者书报画中见到了，这都是人类的“杰作”，因为人类的种种行为，生态失去平衡以后，许多环境遭到破坏，现在的环境被破坏的十分严重，空气污染，沙漠退化，具有观赏性的植物已经消失，人类啊，如不及时改正，地球的危机会更快的到来！

珍惜环境，保护动植物，从现在做起，还不晚，回头是岸，力争改变环境！

Researchers compared the genomes of polar bears with those of brown bears, and found that polar bears have accumulated genetic changes that boost their heart health and fat metabolism.

同样还有一次，我和同伴在一起玩耍，同伴对我说：“我们去小溪边喝水吧!”我说：“好哇。”当到了小溪边我们才发现，昔日清澈见底的小溪变成黑色的了，垃圾和死鱼的尸体都漂浮在水面上，传出阵阵恶臭味。一群蚊子和苍蝇在垃圾在上方飞来飞去，“嗡嗡”作响。这是怎么回事?回家一问才知道，原来，人类的一些垃圾随手扔进小溪，才造成了这样的后果。

不光环境被破坏了，我还失去了一位亲人。一天，我聪明的哥哥出去寻找食物，但是很久都没回来。隔壁的喜鹊大妈告诉我：“你哥哥被一个人抓到野味餐厅了。”

人类，难道你们一直这样破坏环境却不感到痛心吗?“保护环境，爱护动物。”你们不是一直挂在嘴边吗?但是你们去做了吗?

I am a student from Xinhua High School in Chongqing，China. Informed that you have a vacancy for a student to serve as the spokesman for animals, I cannot resist my inner excitement,hoping to seize the opportunity to do something for animals .

In my mind，nothing can delight me so much as caring for animals. Wherever I go and whatever I do, I usually keep in mind that animals are angels from the heaven, which bring us endless comfort and pleasure. I have been a panda lover since my childhood. Panda is so lovely that brings fun to people and they are regarded as the treasure of our country. Unfortunately，such a rare species is now faced with the danger of being extinct。What I am eager to do is to raise people’s awareness of animal protection and appeal to more people to care for our earth companies.

Mistreat your animals and someone might take them from you.

Allen （not his real name） is driving north out of Virginia in the middle of the night， with stolen property in the back of his van. But Allen isn‘t a criminal – in fact he normally would never dream of breaking the law.

The “property” he stole is a dog he calls Flash. Allen doesn‘t particularly want Flash – in fact， in a few hours he‘ll drop him off at a stranger‘s house and never see him again. “I couldn‘t just stand by and do nothing，” he explains. “The owner was plainly neglecting the dog， but the police wouldn‘t do anything about it.”

For over a year， Flash had been tied to a tree in front of someone‘s house. “He was sick and malnourished，” says Allen. “More than once I saw [the owner] kick him for no reason at all.” Allen had repeatedly tried to get the owner to take better care of the animal， or to give it away to someone who would. Finally， he took matters into his own hands – in the dead of night， he took Flash off his chain and drove away with him.

Within an hour， Flash had a new license tag and was being treated by a veterinarian who knew better than to ask questions. Pictures of the dog were put up on animal rescue websites， asking for someone to adopt the dog. A couple in New York offered to take the dog， and animal lovers in states along the way agreed to provide transportation.

Nobody can say for sure how many animals like Flash are ‘rescued‘ every year – receiving stolen property is a crime， so rescuers tend to stay in the shadows. But a growing number of empty collars attests to their work as more and more animals find their way to loving homes.
