Last summer, my family and I went to Hawaii for a holiday!

We flew across the Pacific to the tiny island from Beijing. After we booked

into a hotel, we rested. Our fun started the next day and lasted for two long

weeks. During our time there, we ate delicious exotic food and drank numerous

fruit juices. The Hawaiians are very proud of their unique food, often spiced

up with slices of juicy pineapple and strings of delicious cheese. There were

also fantastic beaches right accoss the tiny atoll. The water was sparkling blue

and the sand dunes radiated with an inviting warmth of gold. The place was

wonderful and the locals were really nice; I really enjoyed my holiday.

My favourite festival is Spring Festival. It’s in January or February. People in China celebrate it, and there are many things to do. We often celebrate Spring Festival by having a big dinner, visiting relatives and friends, getting some red packets and letting off fireworks. From Monday until Friday most people are busy working or studying, but in

the evenings and on weekends they are free to relax and enjoy themselves. Some

watch television or go to the movies; others participate in sports. It depends

on individual interests. There are many different ways to spend our spare

time.

Almost everyone has some kind of hobby. It may be anything from collecting

stamps to making model airplanes. Some hobbies are worth a lot of money; others

are valuable only to their owners.

I know a man who has a coin collection worth several thousand yuan. A short

time ago he bought a rare ten-yuan piece worth 250 yuan. He was very happy about

the purchase and thought the price was reasonable. On the other hand, my son

collects match boxes. He has almost 600 of them but I doubt if they are worth

any money. However, to my son they are extremely valuable. Nothing makes him

happier than to find a new match-box for his collection.

Thats what a hobby means, I guess. It is something we like to do in our

With the development of industry, water pollution is becoming more serious now. The polluted water not only kills fish, it is also harmful to our health. Many people get sick because they drink the polluted water. In some rivers the water is so dirty that they can even kill plants.

We should fight against the pollution. We should stop using harmful things. I wish it is not a dream that in the near future we can have clean rivers again.

Nowadays, peoples life has changed a lot with the development of modern technology and economy, which has put lots of negative effects on the environment.

Why this? Because, firstly, some factories are pouring wastes into rivers, lakes, seas and so forth; secondly, because of human activities, a great number of plants and animals are losing their lives; thirdly, using modern machines and chemicals is bad for the environment. In rivers, seas and oceans, there are industrial wastes. Some factories just throw their wastes into seas or let them flow into rivers. When people drink the water from such rivers, they get poisoned. Besides, there is rubbish from ships and when sometimes an accident occurs in an ocean, oil flows out from tankers.

On land, the accumulation of rubbish in the streets may dirty the city and ruin our health. This is mainly due to the improper disposal of rubbish by people.

Last Saturday, our class visited the Museum of the Anti-Japanese War. When our school bus arrived at the Museum, we got off and entered in line. Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of
