This morning I went to the English corner which is in the park near my home. It is three years since it was founded. Many middle school students as well as college students and foreigners take part in the activity. People there practice speaking English by talking about something interesting. People also exchange the experience in English Learning. I think it is a good chance for me to use what I have learnt in my English class. I felt very cool after I got back home. I’ll try my best to learn English better, for it is so widely used in the world.

In the courtyard of my hometown, there is an old phoenix tree that has been

with the town for decades.

Indus trees are not as slim as maple trees, nor are they evergreen like

pine trees. It is just a tall and thick tree with a plain appearance, but it

gives a sufficient sense of security. Relying on it, you dont have to worry

that it will crumble like a skinny maple, and you dont have to worry that it

will "pin to pin" to you like a pine tree. Its sturdy body is always waiting for

your support; its smooth skin wont hurt you in the slightest.

In the hot summer, my pleasure is to enjoy the shade under the tall plane

tree. Its lush leaves will divide the dazzling sunlight into small pieces and

sprinkle it down, which is also warm on the body. Leaning on the trunk and

looking up, the plane tree is really featureless, and its ordinary appearance is

incomparable with those beautiful scenery elsewhere. However, in my eyes, only

it is the most beautiful. Its beauty is not in appearance, but beauty from the

inside out. Only when you experience it and experience it with your heart will

you discover it.

When I was a child, because the adults in the family were busy with work,

no one could play with my brother and me. So I got into the habit of liking

being alone. When the adults were busy going out, I led my brother to sit under

this may be the last time we see each other. what is the reason? It was probably

because the house was going to be renovated, and the tree blocked it. In fact, I

still have a lot of words in my heart that I want to tell it, and I watched it

quietly, and thousands of words came to my mind, but in the end, it came to my

lips and became silent. I looked at it, just like that quietly, at this moment,

it was the scene in my eyes. Is it beautiful? No. But it will always be etched

in my heart.

Perhaps, it is not a tree. Instead, its a playmate of mine. Bring me joy,

support, help, warmth.

The autumn wind blows, and a yellowed leaf dances in the wind. It still

seems to be nostalgic, until the last moment, it will always stand here,

guarding us. Protect us with everything that is kinder than a pine tree and

taller than a maple tree.

In recent years, the news about saving others lives at the cost of ones own are frequently reported. Some people praise the people who save others, becuase its traditional virtue in China to help those who are in need. However, some other people argue that its not worth to save others lives at the cost of ones own and it should not be encouraged. As far as I am concerned, the spirit of self-sacrifice is worthy for us to learn, but we should find amore appropriate way to avoid accident as well.

近年来，关于用自己的生命为代价来拯救别人的生命的新闻频繁被报道。有的人赞扬拯救别人的人，因为帮助需要的人是中国的传统美德。然而，其他人争论到，以自己的生命为代价去拯救别人的生命是不值得的，这种行为不应该太被鼓励。在我看来，自我牺牲精神是值得我们学习的，但是我们也应该找一个更合适的方法来避免事故。

First, every life is precious and respected. Whenever somebody is in danger, we will certainly give them a hand to rescue the lifeif we could. Its our nature. However, its unwise to take action without any considerations. For instance,somebody is drowning, if you are good at swimming, you could jump into the water to save the life; but if you cant swim, the best way for you is not jump into the water but shout loudly and ask others for help. Secondly, some extra accidents can be avoided if we think carefully. There are too many stories about young and promising people sacrifice their own lives to save other but lost their own lives. Its quite debated about these cases. They all have their persuasive reasons and its difficult for us to tell right or wrong between them.

In conclusion, we should study the noble spirit and action of those who sacrifice themselves to save lives. However, we should also try our best to find the best way to rescue others at the lowest cost. Anyway, all lives are precious, unique and respected and we dont want to see anybody lose their lives.

总之，我们应该学习那些牺牲自己拯救他人的人的高尚精神和行为。但是，我们也应该尽我们最大的努力以最小的代价去营救他人。不管怎么样，所有的生命都是宝贵，独一无二并且值得尊重的，我们不想看到任何人失去他们的生命。

This summer holiday, I had travelled to Hong Kong with many other students. We went to Hong Kong by plane. Hong Kong is very small, but there are many people living there.

In Hong Kong, all of the buildings are very tall. There are lots of shops there and you can go shopping until about 11:00 at night. In Hong Kong, things are very expensive, so we only bought a few souvenirs.

We went to lots of places, such as the Avenue of Stars and Ocean Park. I like Ocean Park best. The park is very big. Sitting in the cable car, you can see two hills, lots of different flowers and the sea. Some students were afraid of sitting in the cable car!

We stayed in the Shu Ren College. There are many big trees around it. We had meals in the restaurants, but I didnt like the food.

Hong Kong is very beautiful. I like Hong Kong and I hope to go there again some day.

Maryis my new friend.I got to know her only yesterday. but we like to each other at first sight. she is a tall , outspoken ,13-year-old girl. she is good at english ,and i do well in maths.we helped each other yesterday with our homework.we both like playing pingpang,and we had a match yesterday afternoon. she is easy going .and i m so glad to be her friend.

Happiness is dependent upon work. Sometimes we complain that we have too

much work, but we fail to realize that it’s our work that keep us moving on and

helps us to become a better man. Last summer I visited my friends in a small

village. It was obvious that working has become an indispensable part of their

daily lives. They all went to the field to plant the crops. The sun was shinning

above them and they looked quite happiness about their work. On their face there

were such smiles as I had never seen before.

Work provide us with happiness. Work is more than a necessity for human

beings. If we have no work to do, we will waste our precious time. That’s pity.

We will lose everything in the end. Work helps us to realize the importance of

life, then we will appreciate it more. Everybody who live in this society could

not live without working. If we spend every day idly, we will find life is

boring.

Compared to the universe, our lives are really short, just like a meter. But the meaning of life doesn’t depend on its length but contributions. For example, Marie Curie, in order to find the radium, she devoted her whole life to the research. Though the radioactive element had shorter her life, she never gave up her mind to serve the world. According to her story, I conclude that the first meaning of life is contribution. The standard of judging a life isn’t how much he asks for but how much he gives away.

The second meaning of life is struggling for our goals. Each of us has goals, such as longing for position, hoping for wealth and looking forward to be loved. However, the path leading to them isn’t filled with roses. But no matter how tough to accomplish our dream we should never say die. If you really want to achieve them, please keep diligent and patient just like an English motto goes;“No pains ,no gains.”

The third meaning of life is happiness. Not only should we keep happy, but also bring enjoyment to others .For example, we can have an optimistic attitude which can affect the people in our surroundings. Besides, we are supposed to be ready to help others, because in this way we can make both us and them happy .I consider it an unchangeable truth that ‘Helping others creates happiness.’

just want to say, the lives for us are limited, but we are able to make efforts to make it shine out .Believe it, though our lives are rather short, we can also make a hit .If we try our best, our lives will be meaningful as well.

I have two kinds of dream homes. One is quiet, and the other is on a busy street.

I want a quiet home because I want to have a rest there. The house is on the grass. In front of the house, there is an apple tree. I want to have many apples to eat every autumn. Parents are the people who care about us the most. But for a lot children,

they think it is necessary for parents to give them everything. As they grow up,

they start to realize their responsibility and feel grateful to their parents. I

was very naughty before. One day, I hanged out to play with my friends very

late, but I havent told my parents, because I thought they would not care. But

when I went home, I found my parents and uncle were sitting together, and they

looked very upset. When my parents saw me, they were angry to ask me why I went

home so late. I felt unhappy and shouted at them. Then my uncle told me that my

parents worried about me so much, and they had searched me for the whole street.

At this moment, I felt so touched, and felt their love.

She sleeps on the window ledge, in the open drawer, in the empty shoe, on the grass, between the flowers, under the tree, on anybody’s lap, in a cardboard box, in the cupboard, or on my dress. Sally doesn’t care! She sleeps anywhere. She likes sleeping on my lap best.

I feed Sally every day and give her clean water. Sometimes I brush her fur and she enjoys it very much.

Sally is a very good friend, but she is quite lazy! She never worries because we take good care of her. She is always a happy cat.

Nowadays we see supermodels on almost every magazine cover and one might wonder what life will be like being one of them. Such assumption may be painful for most of the magazine readers who are already over the age when they can get taller. In response to the ”Getting taller trend”, some goes so far as to pay doctors to cut their legs open and let surgeries do the job to get just two centimeters’ higher.

In spite of all these that are happening, some of my taller friends desire to give up this superiority for they just don’t want to be the center of the crowd, saying that they would kill to be a 4 feet child. Girls, maybe you can’t remember the time when you were younger and you need to jump really hard to catch a glimpse of up-the-table world? But being taller, even the upper world of the refrigerator top is no longer a myth and your mom and dad can’t hide your snacks up there any more! As time goes on, you can easily see on the table the beautiful lavenders or lilies stretching themselves in their own fragrant smell, the shining toaster popping out warm tasty toast, or the little drops of water glittering under bright sunshine after your mom wipes the table. Don’t you just love to see every phase of the moon even when they are not that high up in the sky?

Well, I do. Being a 5 ft 10 myself, I am also taking the advantage of buying a larger outfit at a same price. Also, I get a cleaner view of the blackboard even when sitting far away from it. I run faster, jump higher and can think positively. I am proud to say that I possess the ability to see the upside of almost everything. I guess it is because I am closer to the clear blue sky above our heads.

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. I wake up 11 o’clock Am everyday, after a washing, I have a good lunch with my parents. Next I play computer games till the time to have supper. After have dinner. I go on playing till 2 o’clock Am, and then go to sleep with tired. This is one dull day of my winter vacation.

记叙文是记人叙事的文章，它主要是用于说明事件的时间、背景、起因、过程及结果，即我们通常所说的五个" W "( what, who, when, where, why )和一个" H "( how )。记叙文的重点在于"述说"和"描写"，因此一篇好的记叙文要叙述条理清楚，描写生动形象。下面就谈谈英语记叙文的特点和写好记叙文的基本要领。

一、记叙文的特点

1. 叙述的人称

英语的记叙文一般是以第一或第三人称的角度来叙述的。用第一称表示的是由叙述者亲眼所见、亲耳所闻的经历。它的优点在于能把故事的情节通过"我"来传达给读者，使人读后感到真实可信，如身临其境。如：

The other day, I was driving along the street. Suddenly, a car lost its control and ran directly towards me fast. I was so frightened that I quickly turned to the left side. But it was too late. The car hit my bike and I fell off it.

用第三人称叙述，优点在于叙述者不受"我"活动范围以内的人和事物的限制，而是通过作者与读者之外的第三者，直接把故事中的情节展现在读者面前，文章的客观性很强。如：

Little Tom was going to school with an umbrella, for it was raining hard. On the way, he saw an old woman walking in the rain with nothing to cover. Tom went up to the old woman and wanted to share the umbrella with her, but he was too short. What could he do? Then he had a good idea.

2. 动词的时态

在记叙文中，记和叙都离不开动词。所以动词出现率最高，且富于变化。记叙文中用得最多的是动词的过去的，这是英语记叙文区别于汉语记叙文的关键之处。英语写作的优美之处就在于这些动词时态的变化，正是这一点才使得所记、所叙有鲜活的动态感、鲜明的层次感和立体感。

3. 叙述的顺序

记叙一件事要有一定的顺序。无论是顺叙、倒叙、插叙还是补叙，都要让读者能弄清事情的来龙去脉。顺叙最容易操作，较容易给读者提供有关事情的空间和时间线索。但这种方法也容易使文章显得平铺直叙，读起来平淡乏味。倒叙、插叙、补叙等叙述方法能有效地提高文章的结构效果，让所叙之事跌宕起伏，使读者在阅读时思维产生较大的跳跃，从而为文章所吸引，深入其中。但这些方法如果使用不当，则容易弄巧成拙，使文章结构散乱，头绪不清，让读者不知所云。

4. 叙述的过渡

过渡在上下文中起着承上启下、融会贯通的作用。过渡往往用在地点转移或时间、事件转换以及由概括说明到具体叙述时。如：

In my summer holidays, I did a lot of things. Apart form doing my homework, reading an English novel, watching TV and doing some housework, I went on a trip to Qingdao. It is really a beautiful city. There are many places of interest to see. But what impressed me most was the sunrise.

The next morning I got up early. I was very happy because it was a fine day. By the time I got to the beach, the clouds on the horizon were turning red. In a little while, a small part of the sun was gradually appearing. The sun was very red, not shining. It rose slowly. At last it broke through the red clouds and jumped above the sea, just like a deep-red ball. At the same time the clouds and the sea water became red and bright.

5. 叙述与对话

引用故事情节中主要人物的对话是记叙文提高表现力的一种好方法。适当地用直接引语代替间接的主观叙述，可以客观生动地反映人物的性格、品质和心理状态，使记叙生动、有趣，使文章内容更加充实、具体。试比较下面两段的叙述效果：

I was in the kitchen, and I was cooking something. Suddenly I heard a loud noise from the front. I thought maybe someone was knocking the door. I asked who it was but I heard no reply. After a while I saw my cat running across the parlor. I realized it was the cat. I felt released.

这本来应是一段故事性很强的文字，但经作者这么一写，就不那么吸引人了。原因是文中用的都是叙述模式，没有人物语言，把"悬念"给冲淡了。可作如下调整：

I was in the kitchen cooking something. "Crash!" a loud noise came from the front. Thinking someone was knocking at the door, I asked, "Who?" No reply. After a while, I saw my cat running across the parlor. "Its you." I said, quite released.

二、写好记叙文的基本要领

1. 头绪分明，脉络清楚

写好记叙文，首先要头绪分明，脉络清楚，明确文章要求写什么。要对所写的事件或人物进行分析，弄清事件发生、发展一直到结束的整个过程，然后再收集选取素材。这些素材都应该跟上述五个" W "和一个" H "有关。尽管不是每篇记叙文里都必须包括这些" W "和" H "，但动笔之前，围绕五个" W "和" H "进行构思是必不可少的。

2. 突出中心，详略得当

在文章的框架确定后，对支持故事的素材的选取是很关键的。选材要注意取舍，应该从表现文章主题的需要出发，分清主次，定好详略。要突出重点，详写细述那些能表现文章主题的重要情节，略写粗述那么非关键的次要情节。面面俱到反而使情节罗列化，使人不得要领。这一点是写好记叙文要解决的一个基本问题，也需要一定的技巧。如：

One night a man came to our house and told me, "There is a family with eight children. They have not eaten for days." I took some food with me and went.

When I finally came to that family, I saw the faces of those little children disfigured (破坏外貌) by hunger. There was no sorrow or sadness in their faces, just the deep pain of hunger.

I gave the rice to the mother. She divided the rice in two, and went out, carrying half the rice. When she came back, I asked her, "Where did you go?" she gave me this simple answer, "To my neighbors - they are hungry also!"

3. 用活语言，准确生动

记叙文要用具体的事件和生动的语言对人、事、物加以叙述。一篇好的记叙文的语言既要准确、生动，又要表现力强，这样才能把人、事描写得具体生动，其可读性才强。试比较下面一篇例文修改的前后效果。

One day Xiaoqiang was wandering away. He was soon lost among people and traffic. He could not find the way back home and started crying. Just then, two young students who were passing by found him standing alone in front of a shop and crying. They went up to Xiaoqiang and asked him what had happened. Xiaoqiang told them how he got lost and where he lived. The two students decided to take him home. Mother was pleased to see Xiaoqiang come back safe and sound. She invited the two students into the house and gave them some money, but they didnt take it. She served them with tea but they left.

修改后：

The other day, five-year-old Xiaoqiang left home alone and wandered happily in the street. After some time, he felt hungry so he wanted to go back home. But he found he was lost among the crowded people and heavy traffic. When he could not find the way home, he started and crying. Just then, two young students who were passing by from school found him sanding crying in front of a shop. They immediately went up to him.

"Little boy, why are you standing here crying?" they asked.

"I want Mom, I go home." said the boy, still crying.

"Dont worry, well send you home."

And they spent the next two hours looking for the boys house. With the help of a policeman, they finally found it.

When the worried mother saw her son come back safe and sound, she was so thankful and she invited the students into her house. Gratefully, she offered them some money, saying it was a way to express her thanks, but the young students firmly refused it and left without even a cup of tea.
