I used to think Beijing must be a grand and special city, given that it was the capital of China, and lots of events I have heard took place there. But soon after I got off the plane, I knew all was but my illusion. If I had to use one wordto describe it, nothing but “grey” will fulfil the task. As far as your eyes could see, all was covered in dust and haunted by air pollution.

Though it was the first time I had been to the North part of China, I was still surprised by the sharp contrast between the South and North. It wasnt hearsay.

我曾经认为北京必须大,特殊的城市,因为它是中国的首都,我听过很多事件发生。但很快我下了飞机后,我知道一切,但我的错觉。如果要我用一个词来描述它,除了“灰色”将完成任务。你的眼睛可以看到,一切都覆盖着灰尘和被空气污染。

尽管这是我第一次被北中国的一部分,我还惊讶南部和北部之间的鲜明对比。这不是道听途说。

寒假中令我十分高兴的一件事，这件事就是学转呼啦圈。

放寒假的第二天，我把自己这个寒假的打算告诉妈妈，妈妈说：“行，希望你是一个有志气，有毅力的孩子。我马上给你买个大呼啦圈。不过要注意劳逸结合哟!”不到10点，妈妈就给我买回一个呼啦圈，我高兴极了，便开始学。 我拿起呼啦圈往身上一套就转，可费了好大劲就是转不圆，还转不了几圈就落了。我不灰心，我相信坚持就是胜利。中午，妈妈回家看到我满头大汗的样子，心疼地说：“看你，这大冷天的，还这样汗淋淋的，一定下了很大功夫。会了吗?”我马上表演。可刚舞了五圈就掉了。我还要舞。妈妈忙说：“行!在进步。但不能蛮干，做什么事都得动动脑子，还可以向人家请教呀?”这时妈妈叫我休息，她还拿来一块毛巾垫在我人背上，说：“以后练时，热了要脱衣服，别把里面的衣服弄湿了，不然会着凉的。”

这以后，我边练边体会，除了注意腰的扭动，还注意了腿的使劲，转动的次数也从十下、十几下逐渐增加到五十、一百……

除夕之夜，我让爸爸、妈妈给我数，我一连转了六百九十八个。在掌声中，我向爸爸、妈妈敬了一个礼说：“祝爸爸、妈妈猴年大吉，身体健康，生意兴隆——顺久发!”乐得爸爸、妈妈嘴都合不拢。
