Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. Research experience and academic activityWhen a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis & dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

许是因为七年级英语初始课程简单的缘故吧，我上课时有心不在焉的。一次课后，老师便把我叫到办公室，滔滔不绝地训了起来：“……虽说你成绩好，但若上课一直这样下去，天才也会变成傻子，骄傲是学习的大忌……”我一直缄口不言，甚至不敢直视她的眼睛。她的目光仿佛能一直刺透我的心，找出我心中最不堪的思想，然后用铁齿钢牙把它嚼得粉碎。我羞得全身燥热。只是当时我并不能太明白老师的良苦用心，心中还稍有不忿，越来越不喜欢这位丑老师了。

然而接下来发生的那件事，却让我改变了对她的看法，以至于对她越来越敬爱了。

那是一个炎热的周五的下午。放学后，我把补好的试卷交给英语老师。老师接过试卷就改了起来，一题一题仔细地看，改出几个错的，就马上开始讲解。我说这是粗心写错的，她便瞪了我一眼：“别把粗心当借口，若是真正地巩固了这些知识，又怎么会不小心写错呢？究竟还是没巩固好。我再讲一遍，你定要记住了……”接着，她便不厌其烦地为我归纳整理那些繁复的知识。听着听着，我发现我的确没有掌握好这些知识，听的时候觉得熟悉无比，可乍然一个新题目，就不知所措了，于是我更加专心地听着老师的概括总结。时间一分一秒过去，老师开始帮我修改作文了。她使劲伸着脖子，皱起眉头眯着眼睛，手上的红笔不停地颤动着，写下一行又一行小字。“你写作文总是这样，密密麻麻的还老是涂改，我看都看不清楚。这有几个语法错误，应该改成这样……”她一边修改，一边念叨着。我站在老师身旁，看着她佝偻的背，瘦骨嶙峋的手，竟生出几分心疼与懊悔。

我不禁想起往日老师对我们的好。同学打架，她火急火燎地赶到，化解矛盾，接着又气愤地抛出大道理，讲得打架的同学诚心和好；同学生病，她总会魔法般变出药，先喂他吃了，再赶紧打电话唤他父母；上复习课时，总是不厌其烦地一遍遍梳理知识点，往往一节课要写满整块黑板；工作起来雷厉风行，一丝不苟，作业、试卷不论多少，都会逐个认真批阅……

她课堂掌控能力特别好，但凡发现同学上课做不该做的事，她会突然闭口不言，狠狠地瞪那个同学，教室里也会马上安静下来，静得可以清楚地听到同学们小心翼翼的呼吸声。这样僵持了好几秒，她才会收起那利剑般的目光，嘀咕几声，然后又立即转换模式，笑眯眯地继续讲课。再看那同学，已面红耳赤，低眉垂首，羞得恨不得钻到地缝中去了。

一桩桩一件件，原来她的好我之前一直没有发现，今天我——这个愚蠢的外貌协会会员终于意识到了自己的错误。

第一回：名字风波

想当年，初中第N次英语课上，我们的英语老师——朱老师，闹了一个笑话。想听的话，且听我慢慢道来。

老师正在台上讲课，同学们都在专心致志地听。突然，老师用手一指说：“那个谁，你站起来，怎么能上课睡觉？还有那个谁，你下课后帮我把那个谁叫到办公室去。”搞到最后，连朱老师自己也弄不清了，小声嘀咕说：“到底是谁？”

声音虽小，但还是被同学们听见了。同学们一个个都笑得前仰后合。当时，我很想问一下：朱老师，您是不是得了间歇性失忆呀？

第二回：麻辣老师

经过半个学期，我发现朱老师总是一副满血状态，时刻燃烧着自己的小宇宙。她不仅能够激发学生的斗志，而且能够一针见血地指出学生存在的不足。可不是吗？听！朱老师又在“大开杀戒”了。

不知谁小声来了一句“不愧是灭绝师太啊！”我听了之后，很反感。为什么要这么说老师呢？老师也有好的一面呀。还是把“灭绝师太”换成“麻辣老师”比较好！

第三回：三公分阳光

期中考试之后，我的英语成绩有所下降。不仅是走在大街上没有脸面，在家里也觉得对不起亲人。不时，有一些话飘进我的耳朵里：“看，就是她，还教师子女呢！成绩不知道差到哪里去了！”

其实，我当时很想骂她们几句，可是话到了嘴边，却又说不出来。因为我没有勇气，因为我成绩差啊！

朱老师似乎看透了我的心思，便说了一句：“做好自己，才是根本。”是啊，我干吗要听那些打击我自尊心、自信心的话呢？我是教师子女又怎样？我不是又怎样？我就是我自己，不是任何人的影子，也不需要背负任何人的“债”，我是张承媛，不是别人。于是，我便快速的找回了自信，步入了正轨。我想，朱老师的那一句话，虽然不能比作照亮长空的太阳，但至少也能算三公分的阳光吧。

其实，我并不喜欢自我评价与自我介绍。因为这样一来，别人也就把我看穿了。 在别人看来，我的朋友很多。非也！我交际广，但能成为朋友的没几个。有很多人和我谈得来，但就是不是朋友。别问我原因，因为我不知道。我把友情看得很重，那是伴随我一生的。任何事都不会影响到我的朋友在我心中的形象，除非我朋友自己。我只能用感情来衡量我的朋友，其它的一边儿玩儿去！我会为友情放弃一切我是一个乐天派，就是天塌下来，我也会大叫这是奇观。当然，我也有情绪低落的时候，但过不了十分钟就会恢复正常。

It has been a long time since I wrote the last letter. Nowdays, people write letters less and less, instead, they make a call or send a SMS. However, it is still a good way for us to communicate with each other by sending a letter.

You always arrive at the classroom ahead of any of the students, from which we could imply that you are a diligent man with regular habit. Before the class, you like to talk to us, at this very time, you are more a friend than a teacher. To be honest, I was surprised in the first class when I learned a teacher at your age could speak English in such a fluent way.(I didnt mean you are old, youre young at heart.) Moreover, you know well how to keep your class attractive. Youve got such an active mind that you can keep talking during the whole class without a pause. Ive got some suggestions for you. It seems that we students have got few chances to participate in discussion during the class time. Most of the time, we are listening. Seldom did we express our own ideas. I suggest that teachers should interact with students more frequently in the class. Besides, Id like to practice writing more, so would you please leave us more assignments?
