驮着货物的是家里原来干农活的一头小毛驴。每天早晨，父亲早早吃过后，便赶着驴车出发，午饭无论早晚都得赶回家吃，目的无非是想省两个钱。但逢不上学且田里不忙的时候，我总央求着跟父亲一道去赶集。父亲身体虽然臃肿些，但每天上车下车的也已经熟练，不费多大的力气便轻松地跨上车辕，手中的皮鞭一挥，小毛驴就扬起蹄子上路了。我牢牢坐在驴车中间的货物上，俩手死死地抓住捆绑货物的绳子，眼睛紧紧地盯住前方的道路，生怕一路的颠簸摔下来。时间久了，眼睛累了，双手早已麻木了，心情也懈怠起来。此时坐在驴车上看父亲驾车的样子，倒成了一道风景。只见父亲一手拿着皮鞭儿，一手扶着车辕，路口处或是上下坡大声的吆喝声，皮鞭在空中时不时划出漂亮的弧线，发出清脆的响声；车轮在不平路面上因颠簸着，不断发出的吱吱嘎嘎声，驴蹄儿快乐地奔跑着，蹄儿敲打路面的哒哒声；赶集的同伴儿或早出务工的熟人的相互的问候声，一并灌入自己的耳朵。车上因颠簸而摇头晃脑的我，听起来感觉竟是一种从未有过的享受。恍恍惚惚里，感觉父亲就像一个鏖战沙场的英雄，指挥着他的千军万马，攻城略地也不费吹灰之力。于是乎父亲的形象便充斥了自己整个想象，且迅速膨胀高大起来。

因为父亲赶集的地方离家都不很远，这种美好的感觉往往时间不长便结束了。停下车，我们父子也先后跳下车。摊铺是固定的地方。父亲拴好毛驴后，熟练地将货物从车上搬下来，整齐有序地摆放在路边，但等买主一上来便开始了一天的营生。我只是贪图好玩，父亲也会大方地给我买上一包瓜子或是几大捧炒花生，任由我在车子附近转来转去的，从不厌烦。倘若是中午，父亲会给我一两块钱，到旁边的包子铺买几个包子，喷香喷香地吃着，不知比现在城里的饭食要香上多少倍。

寒来暑往，只要不是下太大的雨雪，又不是秋收秋种的农忙季节，父亲就一直坚持赶集。时间久了，就是驾车的驴子因年老体弱都换了好几头，车上经营的物件也是更换了若干。而我上学以及升学的忙碌，也很少再坐父亲的小驴车了。父亲仍一如既往地赶着驴车赶集，但因年事逐渐增高，再也不像原来那样风风火火了。父亲的辛苦无非是希望子女们有出息，将来跳出农家院有个好的前程。父母之用心良苦，而儿女也自有其命数所定。兄妹先后中考失利，我则通过几年的努力来到城里。

端上公家的碗，便失去自由的身，我回家的次数就真的少了。后来我有了自己的家庭，春节和国庆长假也能交替着回家。只要回家，父亲总要三番五次问我工作的状况，而工作的不顺心让我只好敷衍着父亲的关心。听母亲讲，父亲几次下决心要到我那儿看看他的宝贝孙子，但总放不下他的小驴车，放不下自己手下的活计儿。记得有一次儿子过生日，父母不辞辛苦来看我们，小住几天看他们快乐的样子，我心里非但感觉不出幸福，反而是满腹酸楚。

前年冬天得知父亲生病住院，中途我匆匆忙忙赶回家，照料住院的父亲。听医生讲父亲当时是心血管栓塞的病症，病情很严重，随时都有生命的危险。好在赶到医院及时，只要做完手术便无大碍。因当时父亲一直进行着血管疏通，精神状况看起来不错，做完手术就回家了。父亲怕耽误我的工作，不断催促我们赶回去。年底的事情的确很多，我嘱咐好母亲便匆匆回了单位。期间也打过几次电话，得知父亲在家没几天就又赶上他的驴车赶集去了。我埋怨父亲不爱惜自己的身体。其实我内心里知道，父亲是不想因自己的年迈体弱而拖累他的孩子们。唉，我的傻父亲啊！

春节我们一家回家过年，看到父亲恢复很好，心情自是分外高兴。次年国庆节我又回家，父却因交了田地高兴不起来，我只得好言安慰他两句。母亲则说，好在你爸还天天赶着驴车赶集，生活不会有问题的。可谁能料到，国庆节的一面竟是我们父子的最后一面。也就是在父亲手术后整整两年的日子，父亲却又因栓塞复发而猝亡，这前一天他还赶着驴车赶集呢。唉，我可怜的父亲啊！

父亲永远地走了，离开这个令他眷恋的世界。但每一次的梦里，我总能感觉到父亲慈祥的笑靥，还能看到父亲驾驶着他的小驴车，手里拿着皮鞭儿，抽甩着漂亮的弧线，空中仍然回荡着清脆的响声。
