About myself: I left school at 16 because I wanted to earn a bit of money. After that I got a few part-time jobs as a waiter, etc. But I didnt stick to any of them for long. Recently Ive been doing a bit of hitch-hiking round Europe so Ive had some experience of traveling the hard way which should come in handy on the expedition youre planning. 农历正月十五，是中国的传统节日——元宵节。在这一天，人们挂彩灯，吃元宵，高高兴兴地团聚在一起。

记得有一年元宵节，我们一家三口早早地来到爷爷家。这一天爷爷家里布置得可漂亮了：大门口贴着一幅爷爷亲笔写的春联，阳台上挂着两串长长的红灯笼，一派节日的喜气。一进门，爷爷就对我说：“卞正，你是属兔子的，今天又是元宵节，爷爷给你做个兔子灯好不好?”“噢，做兔子灯喽!”我高兴得一蹦三尺高。

于是，爷爷拿出他早就准备好的竹条，动手做了起来，只见爷爷把竹条弯成大小不等的椭圆形和圆形，然后用铁丝把它们固定住，不一会儿，一个小兔子的“骨架”就搭好了。接着爷爷用白纸把这“骨架”包住，这样小兔子就有了漂亮的“白皮肤”了。我也帮爷爷的忙，亲手用红纸剪了两个小圆形贴在小兔子脑袋两侧，算是它的眼睛。这样，一个漂亮的兔子灯就在我和爷爷的共同努力下完成了。晚上我们在兔子灯的“肚子”里插上一支小蜡烛，点亮后，兔子灯显得更漂亮了。我拉着它在挂着灯谜的小区里散步。我一边欣赏着五颜六色的烟花，一边猜着灯谜，心里别提有多高兴了。

元宵佳节是我们中国的传统节日。元宵佳节的习俗主要就以吃汤圆为主。 The Lantern Festival is our traditional festival in China.The custom of the Lantern Festival is mainly to eat dumplings.

今年的元宵佳节我们家和以前过的不一样。以前，我们是去超市买别人已经做好了的，回家只要放在过了煮好了就可以吃了，可是那样过节是在是太没意思了。所以，今年的元宵佳节，我们自己包汤圆。

我跟着姥姥一步一步地学着。先把准备好的一包糯米倒入一个较大的碗或盆里，倒入十分之七的温水，把这个面调均匀后放好。面做好了，该弄馅了。这次是用黑芝麻馅的，买馅的时候这个是一大快，要先用刀切的一小块一小块的，不要太小，也不要太大。再把他一块一块的搓成圆形。

面和馅都做好了，就要开始包了。先从面团上掐一块面下来，捏成扁饼形，拿一粒先放在最中间，把旁边的面往上推，逐渐变成一个圆，再用手捏一捏不平的地方，搓成一个团，再在面上滚几圈，一个汤圆就完成了。

就这样，一个又一个的汤圆在我的手中诞生了。最重要的是下锅煮。先把锅里的水烧开，然后把汤圆扔进水里，煮到汤圆向上漂，水“咕嘟咕嘟”冒泡时，就是已经煮熟了。把火关了，把汤圆捞出来，就可以吃了。

吃着自己做的汤圆，心里也甜滋滋的。

接着我随着人流来到“金猪贺岁”花灯前。我抬头仰望，天真可爱的吉祥童子，手执火红火红的灯笼，站在又胖又大的金猪的背上，随着音乐欢快地转着身子，给我们美好吉利的祝福，我望着金猪深思着，来年，我们演武小学也能举行元宵灯会，灯会的主题是“和谐学校，温馨家园”。每个学生做一盏有创意的花灯，全校就有上千盏花灯，整个校园一定更加灿烂辉煌。“走啊，好看的还在后头呢。”爷爷喊到，爷爷的喊声打断了我们的思路。

我跟着爷爷看看这组花灯，赏赏那组花灯，43组大型花灯各有各的特色，各有各的风采，都是那么璀璨耀眼，除了大型花灯外还有由近二千盏宫灯组成灯墙，闪耀火红的光辉。白鹭洲两边的筼筜湖里几百盏荷花灯，鲤鱼灯……争奇斗艳。这灯会体现跨越发展的气势磅礴和辉煌成就，这次灯会展现出厦门吉祥喜庆，温馨和谐的社会风尚。

一转眼二个多小时已经过去了，我才恋恋不舍地离开白鹭洲，但整个厦门仍是火树银花不夜城。

我叫王正，今年十岁，是培星小学四年级（2）班的学生，我觉得我还是挺帅的，浓浓的眉毛，鼻子、嘴巴还挺端正，很有点男子汉的气质，不过就是眼睛小了点，这时我老妈最不满意的地方，但最应人注目的是我的两只超大耳朵，大人们经常夸赞我耳朵大有福气，但愿是这样吧。

The environment has been polluted badly today and the nature punishes the

human being by all kinds of disasters, such as the heavy haze in Beijing, which

damages people’s health. World Environment Day is on June 5th. It pays attention

to call for the public to make an effort to bring the world a clean

environment.

Look at the pollution around us, which exists everywhere. The cars release

the gas which pollutes the air and the rubbish can be found in every corner of

the street. All of these daily incidents hurts the world we live. Especially the

factories, they release the heavy smoke and make the sky becomes dark. What’s

more, the wasted water flows to the clean river.

Though the government has made some action to punish the businessmen for

releasing the polluted sources, they still dare to take the risk of earning the

biggest profit. If we hurt the environment, it will hurt ourselves, because we

live together. The polluted environment threatens our health. If we want to live

the comfortable life, then the only way is to be nice to the environment.

For many years until she passed away, Nancy had served as a goodwill ambassador of the American people who made unremitting efforts to promote exchanges between the United States and China. The Stilwell Scholarship she founded helps support deserving students from China who have come to the Monterey Institute to pursue professional degrees in translation and interpretation, international policy studies, language teaching and business management.

As is known to us all, teachers play an important role in our process of

growing up. As far as I am concerned, an ideal teacher should be responsible,

impartial and wise.

First of all, a qualified teacher should be responsible. For one thing, he

should try his best to make his class interesting and try to understand what his

students need. For another, he needs to keep enthusiastic with his job of spread

knowledge all the time and act as an example for others everywhere he goes

to.

Second, be impartial is another requirement. As a teacher, he should not

divide students into good ones and bad ones since each student has unique

characteristic and value. Therefore, no matter what kind of students he

encounters, he should treat them impartially, without any bias.

Finally, my ideal teacher is one who does not only teach students his

specialized knowledge but also can give students some guidance about life and

about how to act as human beings. This guidance has a great effect on students’

outlook on life and sense of worth.

To sum up, an ideal teacher should not only pay attention to the

achievements his students get, but also put emphasis on developing students’

correct views on life and sense of worth.
