The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double FifthFestival, is celebrated

on May 5th on lunarcalendar.It is a folk festival widely spread with ahistory of

over 2,000 years, and is one of the mostimportant Chinese festivals as well.

There are variouscelebrating activities on that day, among which the customs of

eating rice dumplings anddragon boat racing are quite important.There are many

legends on the origin of the DragonBoat Festival.Some people think it is to

commemorate the poet Qu Yuan, while others say it isto be in honour of Wu Zi_u,

a famous general during the Warring States period. However, thelegend of Qu Yuan

spreads most widely. People appreciate highly the noble sentiment andprominent

talent of this patriotic poet and are very sympathetic with the ending that

hecommitted suicide by drowning himself in a river.

端午节(the Dragon Boat Festival)，又称重五节，于每年农历五月初五庆祝。

这是广泛流传2000多年的民间节日，也是中国最重要的节日之一。端午节当天举行各种庆祝活动，吃粽子和赛龙舟(dragon boat

racing)是其中的重要习俗。关于端午节的起源，有很多传说。一部分人认为端午节是为了纪念诗人屈原，另一部分人则认为是为了纪念战国时期的著名将领伍子胥。然而，屈原的传说流传最广。人们非常欣赏这位爱国诗人的高尚情操和出众才华，更对他投江自尽的结局深表同情。

转眼间，二十多天的寒假已经过去大半，新的学期就要来临。在这个寒假里，有一些趣事铭记在我的心中，无法抹去。其中，我觉得最有趣的一件事就是和表哥一起放爆竹。

在九岁那年，大部分像我一样大的小孩都玩起爆竹来，我不能落后，自已壮壮胆子，开始放起来。放了挺好玩，所以每到寒假我最喜欢放爆竹。

寒假的一天，我来到表哥家。刚一到他家，表哥就在门口等着我，他拉着我来到他家后院里。我一看，惊呆了。他家后院的田地里，有一个用泥巴做的军人打仗的基地，旁边还挖了一个小池塘，里面灌满了水，水里还有一个小潜水艇，陆地上还有坦克、飞机和小人。表哥对我说，我们要用各种爆竹来炸它们，直到它们全军覆灭为止。我们先炸陆地上的。我们先用普通的爆竹来炸它们。炸了大概十来分钟，才倒了两三个，看来这种爆竹的杀伤力不强。我们又换了另一种威力强点的来炸它们，一下子就能炸倒五六个，看来郊果虽然是好的，但是太慢了。我们只好拿出了我们的王牌武器“火导弹”。我们把它放在地上，一点火“火导弹”就飞了出去。只听“啪”的一声，就炸倒了一大堆的小人，就连坦克都炸得飞起来了。我们只放了五枚“火导弹”，陆地上的小兵就全部炸倒了。接下来要炸水里的，潜水艇更是不堪一击，我们才发了一发“鱼雷炮”，潜水艇就炸坏了，我们胜利了。

寒假就在我们的欢呼声中不知不觉中过去了。

I went to see a film in the cinema this evening. It was called Kong Fu

Panda. I love this film. It is funny but I also learned something from the film.

We should not give up things easily. We should have a good plan and make up our

mind to make our dream come true.

今天晚上我去电影院看了电影。影片教《工夫熊猫》。我爱好这部电影。很有趣可我也学到了一些东西。我们不应该轻易废弃。我们应该做个好规划，下定决心，实现梦想。
