I noticed an ad. In the paper today you said you were looking for people to join your expedition team. It sounded as if it might be fun so Im writing to say Id like to come along.

About myself: I left school at 16 because I wanted to earn a bit of money. After that I got a few part-time jobs as a waiter, etc. But I didnt stick to any of them for long. Recently Ive been doing a bit of hitch-hiking round Europe so Ive had some experience of traveling the hard way which should come in handy on the expedition youre planning. By the way, Im a great guitarist so I can keep you all amused round the campfire at night.

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that

Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddhas

body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar

show respect to Buddha on this day. Later, the Buddhist rite developed into a

grand festival among common people and its influence expanded from the Central

Till today, the lantern festival is still held each year around the

to stroll with on the streets, extremely excited. "Guessing lantern riddles"is

an essential part of the Festival.

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the

and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will

get a little gift. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in

the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of

wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also

called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is

small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean

paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling.

Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s

more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning

reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the

family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern

dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and

beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent

lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Most families spare some fireworks

from the Spring Festival and let them off in the Lantern Festival. Some local

governments will even organize a fireworks party. On the night when the first

full moon enters the New Year, people become really intoxicated by the imposing

fireworks and bright moon in the sky.

As everyone knows, stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is

no way to avoid it. As the pace of modern life continues to increase, we are

夏天到了，就像是炉子上的一锅冷水在逐渐泛泡，冒气而逐渐沸腾一样。天空上晴空万里，太阳把地面考得滚烫滚烫的。一阵南风刮来，从地上卷起一滚热浪，火烧火燎地使人感到窒息。杂草抵挡不住太阳的曝晒，叶子都卷成个细条了，头也垂下了。

可荷花却依然挺立着：只见荷花盛开着，朵朵荷花婀娜多姿，真像亭亭玉立的仙女。她们千姿百态，纯洁无暇：有的躲在荷花背后，不肯露头，好像一个羞怯的小姑娘;有的从荷叶中探出头来，含笑怒放，散发出阵阵芳香：有的还是花蕾，看起来饱胀地马上就要破裂似的。一片片荷叶就像一个个翠绿雕刻大圆盘，有的高于水面，有的贴在水面，有的低于水面。

秋天到了，果实累累，既是一个丰收的季节，又是一个美丽的季节。一群群的蝴蝶又开始活跃起来了，被秋风吹落的叶子，离开了树妈妈的怀抱，落到了地面，瞧!他们在空中尽情翻飞，五颜六色的：红的，黄的，绿的.......

冬天是一个寒冷的季节，酝酿着一个银色的梦。呼呼——寒风凛冽，大雪纷飞，树上，地上，屋顶上.......到处都是雪。许多花都凋谢了可那不畏严寒傲霜斗雪的梅花却还在盛开着，在这冰天雪地里，梅花开放，给银色的梦增添色彩。孩子们一窝蜂的跑了出来，玩起了打雪仗，堆雪人.....农民们也眉开眼笑：“明年又是一个大丰收!“这一派景象不由得想起了宋代诗人的赞美名句：”得水能仙与天奇，寒香寂寞动冰肌，先风道骨今谁有?淡扫峨眉参一枝”。

啊!我的家乡!你真美!

撑一把伞，漫步在林荫小道间，欣赏春天的伟大杰作以及这淅淅沥沥的小雨。突然，我重重地踩到了一个水坑，顷刻间，水溅得我全身都是。就在我气愤的抱怨衣服雨水弄湿之时，我隐约地看见了一个站在水中，拿着剪子的人。耐不住好奇心，我跑到他的附近，准备一探究竟。

原来他是一个园林工人，正当我觉得无趣准备离开的时候。一阵大风刮来把他的遮雨帽吹跑了，奈何风太大，帽子早已被大风刮的不见踪影。他却没有离开，反而继续完成他的工作。大雨无情地打在他的身上，冷冽的风如刀割一般从他的脸上、身上刮过。雨打在地上发出去大的声响，与风“呜呼”的声音交错在一起，似乎是在让他投降。但他并没有因此而屈服，反而纹丝不动、坚韧不拔的屹立在狂风暴雨中，坚持完成自己的工作，坚守着他的岗位上……

很快，雨渐渐的小了，他也将工作完成，他欣慰的笑了，正当他转身准备离开的时候，他突然发现一直站在他身后的我。他惊讶的看着我，但很快又笑着对我说：“小姑娘，快回去吧，外面雨大。”说着，他转身离开了。看着他远去的背影了，我不禁觉得他是那么的伟大……

雨过天晴，一朵朵娇艳美丽的花儿绽放开来，一阵微风吹过，带来了无限温暖。

闲来时，总爱捧一杯热茶，坐在窗边，靠在椅子上，静静的读书，听着风吹树叶沙沙的声音，看着书中人物的悲欢离合，不知不觉便沉醉其中了。

我极爱读书，所以奉行着“书是人的精神食粮”这一句话，大约三、四周就会看一本书。我读书速度很慢，一句一句的看，一句一句的想，思考其中的含义，领会其中的奥妙，非要搞懂了，想明白了才肯罢休。在读书时，我能够“”我坚信“书中自有黄金屋，书中自有颜如玉”。

在读书的过程中，我不仅增长了知识，扩大了见闻还结识到了很多好朋友有：独立自主的简.爱、武艺高强的武松、调皮捣蛋的孙悟空和老实的祥子…在和“这些朋友”的对话中我获得了心灵上的充实与满足。

读书使我游历了世界历史发展的进程，感悟了生命的价值与意义。读书，使我看到了杜甫的“何时眼前突兀现此屋，吾庐独破受冻死亦足”的无私奉献，看到了李白的“长风破浪会有时，直挂云帆济沧海”的豪情壮志，看到了董存瑞的为国牺牲，看到了鲁迅的爱国热忱…

读书，是一件风趣的事，是一件高雅的事，也是我最爱的事情。

书是热茶，驱除心灵的阴暗，带来温暖;书是绿荫，遮蔽炎炎裂日，带来惬意。书是绳索，连接着成功的大门，书是钥匙，开启了知识的殿堂。

读书，我的最爱。你带给了我精神上的愉悦;你供给着我对知识的渴求;你点燃了我不断学习的热情。

今天晚上，我们准备吃水饺。

你看，妈妈正在厨房里剁馅子。她把芸豆先一根根的择干净，然后再用水洗一洗，再放到开水锅里焯熟，妈妈把它捞到菜板上，切碎，接着就剁了起来。妈妈仔细地把每一根芸豆剁的很细。妈妈又拿了一块肉，不一会儿就把肉也剁的很细。妈妈把菜馅和肉馅放到一个盆里，加上油、盐、酱油、味精、花椒面等调料，沿着一个方向搅动起来。我好奇地问妈妈：“为什么要沿着一个方向搅动呢”妈妈说：“沿着一个方向搅动馅子不容易出水。”哈哈，我又学了一招。

这时爸爸已经和好了面，于是我们开始包水饺。妈妈擀皮儿，我和爸爸包。妈妈擀的又快又圆，爸爸包的飞快。我学着爸爸的样子，拿起一个皮儿，放上馅子，然后把皮儿合起来，先是再在中间一捏，再慢慢地向两边捏，直到没有一点缝儿，这样一个水饺就包好了。我把水饺放到面板上，可惜怎么也站不起来。我疑惑不解地看着爸爸，爸爸说我包的馅子太少了，所以就站不起来。再看爸爸包的水饺，圆圆的肚子，像个不倒翁，密密麻麻地摆成了一排排，又整齐又好看。我又试着往里面多放了点馅子，结果饺子就真的站起来了。我很高兴，就继续包了起来。不到半个小时，我们就包完了。

吃着自己包的水饺，真香！
