钱江潮，又称海宁潮，以“一线横江”被誉为“天下奇观”。海宁观潮之风汉时即已蔚然，唐宋时更盛。北宋词人潘阆所唱“长忆观潮，满郭人争江上望。来疑沧海尽成空，成面鼓声中。弄潮儿向涛头立，手把红旗旗不湿，别来几向梦中看，梦觉尚心寒。”便是当年“弄潮”与“观潮”的真实写照。
