陈阿婆擦擦眼泪，仔细看了看老荣，迟疑道：“你是……”

老荣说：“怎么，不认识我了？我是咱们A市报社的荣记者呀！这一城人可有半城人认识我。”

陈阿婆猛一拍手，说：“想起来了，你是荣记者，当年你还采访过我。那是好多年前的事了。”

老荣在旁边坐下，感叹道：“是呀！那时咱俩都年轻。现在，老喽！不中用了。”

陈阿婆叹一口气，说：“是不中用了，所以儿子媳妇嫌弃我呀……”

话未说完，眼泪又掉了下来。

老荣出于做记者的敏感，断定陈阿婆是被儿子媳妇虐待了。待她哭了一阵，细细一问，果然如此。陈阿婆说：“想当年生我儿子大宝时多难呀！生他那天，我挺着肚子上街买桔子，不慎滑倒在地，晕死过去，被街上的好心人送往医院……唉！没想到遭了那么大的难却生了这么个不孝之子。”

老荣想起来了，就是因为这件事自己特意赶到医院采访了陈阿婆，还见到了她早产的儿子。老荣心里一机灵，突然问道：“你儿子是哪年出生的？”

陈阿婆说：“1967年9月27日。那时我才20来岁，现在60多了。”

老荣猛地一拍手，说：“有了，明天我去你家，送他一份礼物。”

“什么礼物？”陈阿婆疑惑道。

老荣说：“这个你就别管了，反正是好东西，你把你家地址告诉我。”

老荣从陈阿婆那里问清地址后，就一路小跑着回了家。

第二天中午时分，老荣来到了陈阿婆家。只见陈阿婆的儿子大宝和媳妇正坐在桌旁吃饭，陈阿婆独自坐在房间的角落里，面前摆着半碗米饭。

老荣笑呵呵地走进去，说道：“吃饭了！”

大宝抬起头一看，依稀认得，只是一时想不起来，便说：“您好像是那个……”

老荣说：“我是报社的荣记者呀！怎么不认识？”

大宝猛一拍后脑勺，赶紧起身，说：“认识，认识。来，来，喝杯酒。”

老荣摆摆手，说：“酒我就不喝了。我今天来是有事找你。”

大宝问：“啥事？”

老荣说：“你叫大宝吧！你是哪年出生的？”

大宝说：“我是1967年9月27日出生的呀！”

老荣说：“这就对了。”说着，从口袋里掏出一张发黄的报纸，递过去，说：“今天我送你一份礼物。这张报纸是咱们A市1967年9月27日出版的，也就是你出生日。你不想知道你出生那天咱们A市都发生了什么事？”

“真的？”大宝一听，兴趣一下高涨，说：“当然想知道，我看看。”说着，就打开报纸逐条逐段地看了起来，一边看一边兴奋不已，说：“没想到我出生那天咱们A市还发生了这么多事情。”

老荣指着一条通讯，说：“看这条，我写的，有个孕妇上街买桔子不小心滑倒了……”

大宝看着看着，脸色就不对了，说：“荣记者，你写的这是我妈，这男孩是我呀！”

“是呀！”老荣说：“你妈生你时，如果没有街上的好心人的帮助，恐怕就没有你了……”

大宝一时傻了，眼睛也渐渐红了。老荣拍拍大宝的肩，说：“这张报纸就送你了。好好看看吧！”说着，老荣就出了门。

原来老荣当记者时有收藏报纸的爱好，家里如今堆了上万份老报纸。那天他在街上听了陈阿婆的哭诉，立马想起应该把这天的报纸给他儿子找出来，让他受受教育。

这事过后没几天，老荣家里来了一对特殊的客人，正是大宝和陈阿婆。陈阿婆喜滋滋地告诉他，自从大宝看了那张发黄的报纸后，彻底改变了态度，对自己孝顺多了。

大宝红着脸向老荣检讨了自己的错误。末了，说：“荣记者，我给您提个建议，您不是收藏了咱A市很多老报纸吗？我看您不妨开个老报纸礼品公司，把这些老报纸经过包装后再卖给这天出生的人，谁不想知道自己出生那天A市发生了什么事呀？绝对又有意义又赚钱。”

老荣一听，大喜，说：“是个好主意！”

很快，老荣的“老报纸礼品公司”开张了，而且顾客络绎不绝，生意兴隆。老荣又像年轻时一样忙忙碌碌起来，再也不感到日子单调了。
