On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

Traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. At that time a fox appears. The fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word ―tame‖, becomes his new friend. At the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. From that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

At the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot’s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. ―It’s too far. I can not carry this body with me. It’s too heavy.‖ he said. He tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. At the end the author doesn’t tell us the ending directly. After reading Jane Eyre, I think Jane Eyre is a great woman. Once,Emperor Wudi said that he would implement the policy of benevolence and justice of Confucianism and would do good turns to the people.Emperor Wudi Had hardly finished his remards when Ji An said that there was no need for the emperor to say so.Why should the emperor bother,Ji An said, about pretending to implement the policy of benevolence and justice since he was so greedy and avaricious within himself? This choked the emperor off. The emperor suddenly Changed his countenance and declared the meeting over. All the civilian and military officers at court were breathless with anxiety for fear that Ji An might bring disaster upon himself because of this. After returning, Emperor Wudi said to the people around him that Ji An was a little too rude and too straightforward.

For this reason ,Ji An was never promoted again. When he was the commander in charge of the appointment and dismissal of the local officials, both Gongsun Hong and Zhang Tang were low -ranking lfficials of little importance. Later ,they were promoted continuously. Gongsun Hong became the prime minister and Zhang Tang became the imperial censor. However, JiAns post remained thesame. One day, Ji An said to Emperor Wudi that the way the emperor used his ministers was just like piling up firewood, which meant that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers. Of course, Emperor Wudi could see that Ji An was complaining. So,turning to his ministers, Emperor Wudi said, "It is true that no one can stop learning.You see, Ji An is making more and more indiscreet remarks."

This story comes from The Historical Records. Later generations use the set phrase "the latecomers surpass the old-timers " to indicate that successors can cxcel the predecessors, which is quite different from the original idea when Ji An said that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers.

汲黯是西汉武帝时代人，以刚直正义、敢讲真话而受人尊重。他为人和做官都不拘小节，讲求实效。虽然表面上不那么轰轰烈烈，却能把一个郡治理得井井有条，因此，朝廷把他从东海太守调到朝廷当主爵都尉——一种主管地方吏任免的官职。

有一次，汉武帝说要实行儒家的仁义之政，为老百姓办好事了。没等皇帝把话说完，汲黯就说：“陛下内心里那么贪婪多欲，表面上却要装得实行仁政，这是何苦呢？”一句话把皇帝噎了回去。汉武帝登时脸色大变，宣布罢朝，满朝文武都为汲黯捏着一把汗，担心他会因此招来大祸。武帝回到宫里以后，对身边的人说，汲黯这个人也未免太粗太直了。

从此以后，汲黯的官职再也没有提升。他当主爵都尉的时候，公孙弘、张汤都还是不起眼的小官，后来，他们一个劲儿住上升，公孙弘当上了丞相，张汤做上了御史大夫，可他汲黯还蹲在原地没动窝。有一天，汲黯对武帝说，陛下使用群臣，跟码劈柴一样，是“后来者居上”啊！汉武帝当然听得出这是发牢骚。于是，转脸对臣下们说：“人真是不能不学习啊！你们听汲黯说话，越来越离谱了！”

故事出自《史记汲郑列传》。成语“后来居上”，往往指后起的可以胜过先前的。和汲黯说这话的原意，大不相同。

I have recently read Battle Hymn of Tiger Mother published by The Penguin Press in 2011. This autobiography was written by the Chinese American woman Amy Chua, a tenured professor in Yale Law School. She causes a sensation because her strict but unique parenting which brings excellent performance of her two daughters.

This autobiography tells the course of Amy Chua how she raised the two daughters in Chinese parenting way. It is divided into three parts. At the first part, it gives some introductions of the two daughters, the family. And in the second and third parts, the writer tells more details in the process of raising her two different daughters and the difficulties she was confronted in the process, and most importantly the success the daughters achieved in music which brought Amy Chua pride as well as the whole family.

To some extent, I don’t like Amy’s parenting in some aspects. In my opinion, she deprived the nature of children and pushed too much pressure on their children, especially on Lulu who was under the shadow of her excellent elder daughter—Sophia. While I was reading the third part in the rebellion part, I couldn’t control my own emotion, I felt what Lulu felt and even hated against her selfish and autocratic mother. I couldn’t understand why Amy didn’t let Lulu get up from sit, for water, not even to go to the bathroom when Lulu just wanted a rest during the long hours’ practice of violin. She made Lulu practice violin all day during the family’s vacation abroad. She spoiled the vacation by letting the other family members waiting the practice. She was unreasonable.

But next what I do is to admire her.

There is an old Chinese saying “property can never last for three generations”。 But Amy Chua did change it! Her parents came to U.S and suffered a tough life at the very beginning. They taught Amy math and piano in an extreme strict way when she was a kid. Under the influence of her parents, now Amy is frugal and pretty strict with her daughters and herself. They are the valuable points of her. Although she is so extreme on her parenting, she has the advisable ideas that the parents and the parents to be to learn.

Firstly, as parents, they couldn’t ignore their children and put all focus on their job. There is no excuse for not concerning their children. Except supervising her daughters, Amy Chua has to give lessons in university, write books and handle the family chores. She is so busy, but she doesn’t ignore the daughters.

Secondly, parents should be strict with their children especially when they are kids because kids lack of self-control. They should not indulge their children in internet or sleepovers.

Thirdly, parents should master some skills in parenting. As a matter of fact, there are so many Chinese parents who are strict with their children with no avail of success. Success can’t be totally copied, because some parents ignore the skills in parenting. When their children don’t follow their will or perform well enough to satisfy them, they will lose their temper and even beat their children, yes, of course, Amy Chua will be mad but she won’t beat her daughters, in this condition, she will be sober and wait until her daughters perform well enough. She learnt some music knowledge in her children’s class and supervised them patiently. She knew where to correct the mistakes and gave the children extraordinary success.

Tiger mother aroused a big heat in parenting and threw such an important issue for us to think about. Battle Hymn of Tiger Mother gives us really some enlightenment. Anyway, that’s a really unique experience in reading this book.

Some people think that keeping pets is a good thing. They say that it is an

hobby which should had. They also claim that pets make lives more colorful and

entertaining for both women and men.

有些人认为养宠物是一件美好的事情。他们说，(养宠物)是一个应该拥有的爱好。他们也声称养宠物可以使生活更加多彩，并给男人和女人带来更多趣味。

On the other hand, there are many people who say that pets should be

banned. They point out that pets are responsible for disease which hurt

property, and for injuries suffered both by the people who kept them and by

innocent other people. They also say that pets are a waste of money and

resources.

另一方面，也有很多人说应该禁止养宠物。他们指出宠物是造成伤害(身体)性能的疾病的原因，并且会使养宠物的人和其他无辜的人受伤。他们也说，养宠物是一个浪费钱和资源(的事)。

My own point of view is that we should had the hobby of keeping pets. While

at the same time making them harmless. In addition, we should restrict the

keeping the pets to some area.

我的观点是我们应该有养宠物的爱好。尽管(我们)同时要使它们少受伤害。另外，我们应该禁止在某些区域内养宠物。

It was the second day of our summer holiday. I felt good. I felt I am free. I had a lot of time to do things I like. My parents are in Zhongshan. So I live alone but I don’t feel lonely. But I didn’t do something special. I stayed at home and watched TV. Oh! I wrote an Englishdaily composition. It was my homework. Today, I have slept for 14 hours.I thought I was very tired. It was time for dinner. I must go! I am very hungry.

前几天，因为一个偶然的机会，我发现了一本上面落满土的书，轻轻地把土拍掉后，我看清了书名——《鲁滨孙漂流记》看到这个名字，我有些好奇：鲁滨孙是谁啊;他为什么要漂流啊;有没有发生什么有趣的事呢?想着这些，我迅速地翻开书，津津有味地看了起来。

这本书虽然很厚，但是我却很有耐心，每一篇小故事都细细欣赏，每一个小情节都细细品味最后，我用了一下午的时间，终于把它读完了慢慢放下书，我有些疲惫地躺在床上，闭上眼，眼前仿佛出现了鲁滨孙和星期五一起在岛上即使孤独也很充实的生活脑海中那些鲁滨孙做过的事，那个勇敢机智，却有些傻傻的星期五，都像放幻灯片一样，从眼前闪过一个又一个的画面确实，这本书写的真的很好，让人忍不住开始遐想书中描写的情景了。

书，读完了，感受，确实是有的这本书中，让我感触最深的，便是勇敢的鲁滨孙用智慧在岛上生存的那种精神，那种敢于同恶劣环境做斗争的精神，让我深深为之感动他流落到荒岛，在克服了最初的悲观绝望情绪后，能够把悲伤化做动力，立即投入到了征服大自然，征服一切苦难的斗争之中，他靠着自己的双手与智慧，能够利用仅有的一点工具，为自己的生存创造条件，为自己能继续活下去把握了机会，他的这种能与一切困难最斗争的精神，才是现在人们最缺少并且最需要的对于我来说，确实是这样。

记得以前的我，无论是做什么事，只要遇到困难了，无论大小，都不懂得去和困难斗争一下，只是很服从的让困难战胜了我现在想想，那些对于我来说所谓的困难，其实只是一件小事，比如一道有些难度的数学题，比如一篇有些绕口的古文，这些小困难，和在一座荒岛上生存28年来说，真的是微不足道啊如果我是鲁滨孙的话，不要说时间，就单单是让我在荒岛上一个人孤单的呆一会儿，我可能都不敢了。

想想自己，再想想鲁滨孙，这种对比已经很明显了，我确实没有鲁滨孙的那种敢于抗争命运，敢于与大自然做斗争的勇气，所以呢，我应该好好地向鲁滨孙学习一下生存与战胜困难的方法了当然，我不可能和鲁滨孙一样，漂流到一个荒岛上去生活28年，但是，我会从现在开始，努力与一切困难做斗争的。

从鲁滨孙身上，我学到了坚强，他的所作所为，在以后，会一直影响着我今后的生活中，不管遇到多大的困难，我都要像鲁滨孙一样勇敢面对。
