Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens’, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.
The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.
The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. 我与他一样，有远大的志向与抱负，为了自己的梦想而奋斗，可是，换作是我能否有他那样的毅力与勇气呢?他用双手为自己建立了一个堡垒似的安全的家，储备充足的食物和弹药，勇敢地抵抗入侵者。真让我汗颜，若是我在这样的环境下，也许会吓得手足无措，更别提防御工事和建造一个家了。我还在父母的庇护下，家庭的温床里，做自己的春秋大梦。
虽然，我与鲁滨逊的年龄无法相比，可单单在精神上，我却是逊色于他许多的。几乎没有挫折，我的道路是平坦的，可是身在福中不知福的，一直抱怨，抱怨这，抱怨那，懒惰地生活在吃饱穿暖无风无浪的生活中。
