Of course, Emperor Wudi could see that Ji An was complaining. So,turning to his ministers, Emperor Wudi said, "It is true that no one can stop learning.You see, Ji An is making more and more indiscreet remarks."

This story comes from The Historical Records. Later generations use the set phrase "the latecomers surpass the old-timers " to indicate that successors can cxcel the predecessors, which is quite different from the original idea when Ji An said that the latecomers surpassed the old-timers.

mount jiuhuait was a fine day in may. i took a bus to mount jiuhua. as the hus was passing half way through the mountain i saw a sea of green trees and bamboos. the trees were standing straight pointing upright to the sky. white louds floated in the blue air.

来到乡间小路上，我们几个小心翼翼地走着，生怕掉进了泥田里，那滋味可不好受啊!突然间，我们发现了路边有许多比较大的节耳根，大家立即行动起来，就在那里就挖了许多节耳根。我们站起来，走到前面的岔路口那里，李雪荧开口了，她说：“这里我们两人一组，分头去挖吧。”于是我和李雪荧一组，蒲航和蒲昭一组，分头挖去了。找节耳根可不容易啊，必须仔仔细细地扒开草看。这条路似乎不和我们的意，走完了才挖了几棵。然后我们又在交叉口那里碰头，结果他们那组满载而归了。后来我们又去挖，总算是满载而归了。

今天挖的节耳根我们洗了之后平分了。挖节耳根真有趣呀!

Good Neighbours
