Huang yixuan is my best friend. She is lovely. She is as tall as me. She has a black long hair. Her round face is always red, just like an apple. She likes smile. She like study, but doesnt like sports. She enjoys fishing. Sometimes she will ask me to go with her and her dad to fishing. Her favorite color is blue. So do I. she is good at playing piano. She is a perfect girl in my mind.

I‘ve loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it as Mother sat doing letters. Standing by her chair， looking at the ink bottle， pens， and white paper， I decided that the act of writing must be the most wonderful thing in the world.

Years later，during her final illness，Mother kept different things for my sister and brother. “But the desk”， she said， “is for Elizabeth”。

I never saw her angry， never saw her cry. I knew she loved me， she showed it in action. But as a young girl， I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter.

They never happened. And a gulf opened between us. I was “too emotional”。 But she lived “on the surface”

As years passed and I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to let me know in any way she chose that she did forgive me.

I posted the letter and waited for her answer. None came.

My hope turned to disappointment，then little interest， finally， peace——it seemed that nothing happened. I couldn‘t be sure that the letter had even got to Mother. I only knew that I had written it， and I could stop trying to make her into someone she was not.

Now the present of her desk told me， as she‘d never been able to， that she was pleased that writing was my chosen work， I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside——a photo of my father and a one-page letter， folded and refolded many times.

Give me an answer， my letter asks， in any way you choose， Mother， you always chose the act that speaks louder than words.

这只小白狗是姐姐的朋友给我的，我抱着这雪白的大狼回家，放在客厅里，它伸着爪子好像要和我握手似的！

狗的耳朵竖直，似兔子。姐姐的朋友告诉我：养他就等于养了一只顺风耳，因为它的听力特别好。后来我看果然如此：凡是一点动静，它也能听得清清楚楚；甚至我光脚下地，狗必然飞奔过来，不亚于兔子。

狗的嗅觉更是灵敏了。大体上与白狮相似，但白狮的嗅觉没有狗好。狗的鼻子灵敏，闻这闻那，像一个没见过世面的狗子。它常闻完一个东西就想吃，吃完又不吐出来；有时非但不吐，还咬人！

狗的性格常常使我们感到神奇，我们的狗是会吃醋，每当爸爸下班的时候，我和狗都会找爸爸抱，看见我趴在爸爸的背上，它就不让，不停地用爪子扒拉我。后来我下来了，它上去了。对妈妈也是这样。

晚上我们说带它出去玩，它常就咧着嘴笑，露出舌头。如果我们说不出去了，它马上苦找脸，耳朵以0。01秒速度耷拉下来，然后转过头回房间找爸爸告状去了。

吃饭时如果给它肉，它就赶紧接着，我姐说：有毒！它立马就把肉给吐了，之后一步一步生气地走向走廊，好像在抗议：为什么给我吃有毒的东西？是不是不爱我了？我们怎么叫，它都不理我们，三天后气才消。

哈哈，真是一只古灵精怪的小狗。

我告诉你一个秘密你可不要告诉别人哦！我家的“降雨器”控制失灵，轻轻一碰便会“狂风暴雨”，使我们都很讨厌。不过，等雨过后，大家又会喜欢这个“降雨器”了。这个“降雨器”便是我两岁多的妹妹。

这不，“暴风雨”又要来了。一天我从学校回来，正准备去做作业，谁知道妹妹在门后，一推房门，妹妹的头上被撞了一个青包，又是嘴巴一张，眼睛一眨。不好“大雨”又要下起来了，吓得我连忙去哄妹妹，可我越“雨”越大。妈妈一阵风似的跑了过来，指着我一顿臭骂。这这是哑巴吃黄连——有苦说不出。

晚上，我和妹妹在看电视，妹妹却很不安分，到处东撞西撞，一不小心，撞在茶几的脚上，头立刻肿起了一个大包。这下可好，“雷声”马上传到了妈妈的耳朵“雨”也下了起来。这个“降雨器”可是妈妈的心肝宝贝，妈妈瞪了我一眼。为了劝住妹妹我给了她一个布娃娃，可还是挨了妈妈一顿骂，真是“陪了夫人又折兵”。我真是拿她没办法，就像豆腐掉进灰里，吹也不是，打也不是。

好朋友帮我想个办法治治她吧！我实在是受不了了。

liu hua is my best friend. she is less tall than i, but of stronger constitution. she looks more like a boy than a girl and is strong willed. at college, we spent a lot of time together reading, talking,singing and laughing. whenever we were together we feel happy and carefree.

we have much in common regarding ow education, background, interests and hobbies. we often help each other andlearn from each other. once,when she was in the hospital for an operation on her appendix, i took care of her in every way possible, which made xiang song (the young teacher who shared the ward with her) envy our friendship. when i was preparing for put graduate exams, she did the cooking and urged others to help me. after graduation we parted. she went to argentine. i was still in ustc. we promised to meet in the united states. so we both worked hard at our lessons.

true friendship lasts a long time. hard work is rewarding and three years later, we me again. true to our word, we met at the place where we promised to see each other the united states of america. i received an asslstantship in ncsu and she earned enough money in argentine to support herself and work her way through college.

她除了在中文课上不得已才说汉语外，其他时间从不讲中文，其中包括与我们这些中国小同胞的交往中。在课堂上，在下课后，在教室里，在操场上，随时随地你都能见到她津津有味地和美国同学聊天的画面。说到高兴时，她会眉飞色舞，指手画脚口若悬河，喋喋不修。有时甚至忘记正在上课。日复一日，年复一年，水滴石穿，铁杵成针。勤奋的学习和顽强的毅力是她成功的秘诀。

在美国交换学习时下午放学很早，我们这些小留学生们一般都是乘坐校车先去大学专为外国交流学者开办的托管班里休息，等待家长下班后再接我们回家。有一天，一到托管班我就三下五除二把老师布置的数学作业写完，然后对她说：“安妮，我们去玩吧!可她并没有理睬我，只是冲我摆摆手，仍然埋头做她的作业。我等不及了，便把作业本从书包里拿出来递给她，说：“你快抄吧!抄完我们一块去玩!”只见她想都没想，毫不犹豫地把那本作业本推开了。哎，她就是这样一个不写完作业就不会出去玩的“呆子”，难怪她会取得那样优异的成绩。

她，一个聪明可爱的北京小姑娘;一个勤奋踏实的好学生;一个给我深刻影响的小老师;一个短暂相处却印象最深的好朋友!
