Dear Mr. Wang,

Thank you for a rapid response to our invitation. Enclosed you will find an outline of events to take place during International Week here at the University of Montana. I will also list a number of possible speaking engagements so that you can choose those things in which you are most interested. As far as topics are concerned, the topics for classroom visits are generally determined by the professor, but most professors are very flexible. We have approximately thirty-five faculty members that teach courses in Asian Studies, ranging from language and culture to history and economics.

Here is a tentative schedule:

10 am - Cultural Exhibition opens

12 am - International Festival begins with a speech by the university president and an introduction of visiting dignitaries

1-5 pm - Opportunity to visit festival, interact with student performers, taste foods

6 pm - Dinner with Director of Mansfield Center Phil West, Ambassador Mark Johnson, and staff of Mansfield Center

As you can see, there is tremendous interest in China here at the University of Montana. Please let me know if this outline suits your purpose, and if not, please dont hesitate to offer any suggestions for changes. We can arrange as many or as few speaking engagements as you have time for.

今天，天气转凉，大家都披上了大衣，来到了美丽的校园，小鸟似乎变少了，小草开始掉发了，大叔开始掉牙了，这意味着一年即将过去了，一眨眼十月已经过半，一年还有最后的三分之一，一天跟光速一般，在这光是的日子里发生了许多有趣的事情，在中学的每一节可我都听得非常认真听从老师指挥和安排，也在每一节课里紧紧抓住每一个知识点，虽然上课很死板，但有几堂课却让我记忆犹新，比如今天的英语课……

“叮铃铃”上课铃响了，我静静的坐在位子上等待老师上课，在我看来英语课有时有趣，有时却非常无聊，而今天这堂英语课让我改变了对它的看法，我相信这样有趣的课堂老师也一定发了不少心思来准备这堂课，在上课时老师突然给我们来了个对抗游戏，男生VS女生哪一方选手问题回答的多，那方就获胜。

比赛开始了，男生，女生都不甘示弱，勇于站起来回答问题，外面狂风大作，里面却是这番热闹的情景，一分钟过去了，二分钟过去了，三分钟过去了男生和女生之间出现了距离，眼看第一大题就要结束，我们男生非常着急，想挽回局面，正当我们要开始翻盘时，第一大题居然就这然结束了，不过还好，还有第二大题，谁赢谁输还不一定呢？第二大局开始了，经过一番调整的我们，又开始追逐了紧张又激烈的气氛依旧未停，男生们依然努力的追赶着分数，能追一分是一分，女生好像有点骄傲了，回答的人越来越少，我们分数渐渐多了起来，直到最后一题是我们只差女生两分了，当我们认为胜负已定时，老师突然说最后一题回答对加两分，这是我们脸上又有了笑容，因为班长把自己的手举得高高的，他是我们最后的一线希望了，你是男生唯一的靠山了，当老师在黑板上花了两个大星星后就意味着我们的努力没有白费，我们终于胜利了！

今天的这节有趣的英语课给我们打来了许多欢乐和笑声！

说起秋天，我还真是一个小小落叶收藏家，有：枫叶、银杏叶、杨树叶、桑树叶……还有许多说不上来名的叶子。

秋天的早晨，我到公园里采集落叶，一阵秋风吹过，我看到一些黄叶落下来，像一只只黄蝴蝶，随风起舞。几只小鸟在树上蹦来蹦去，好像在和黄叶比美呢！

秋天的雨说来就来，当我没带伞时，就是最危险时，因为秋雨有可能又来找我了。对了，忘了说，我和秋姑娘是对要好的朋友，每次我都高兴地迎接她，于是她礼尚往来，派秋雨给我冲澡……

秋风又跟我急了：“怎么不先夸夸我呀？”好，我来写写她吧！秋风吹在人的身上非常温暖，就像毛绒熊贴在脸上，非常柔和。

第二天早上，太阳升起来了，农民伯伯高兴地在田地里摘下丰收的硕大果实，露出了灿烂的笑容……大雁们好像现在才察觉到要向南飞作文，他们一会儿排成“一”字，一会儿又排成“人”字，飞向温暖如春的南方……

Everyone have their own favorite season. Someone loves the spring the most,

while other one loves winter.The one who like summer might for its hot weather

Summer is a magnificent season, which bring warm to us, letting us wave for

people have stirrings to do something. Also, thinks to summer that makes

swimming and surfing much funnier and the ice-cream taste more delicious.

Autumn, fruit is fragrance and fruit. Autumn is the season of harvest, fall

chrysanthemums spit release each other, and a thriving scene. Autumn is the only

season that we could see the leaves flying in the sky. And it is especially

important for Chinese; one of a day of autumn which called mid-autumn festival

brings family together and enjoys happy family reunion.

Winter is a season makes people feel sad and cold, but a warm, toasty house

may feel great in the winter, that is the only charm that other season doesnt

have. Nothing is greater on a cold day than a hearty hot bowl of soup. Moreover,

we can make a snowman and have snow high in winter.

Every season has its own lovely charm, I love them all.

I, the undersigned, am a senior in the Computer Science Department of Tsinghua University. I ordered a book which is entitled Practical Writing and Reading for NETEM by Wang Li on December 20th, 2004.

However after reading the book on January 10th, 2005, I found that it is a pirated one so that I write to you for complaint.

The book has brought me some negative effects. To begin with, much of my valuable time and energy have been wasted in reading the book since it is quite hard to identify many words in the book. What’s more, I have not benefited from reading the book since some of keys to the exercises are misprinted.

I would like to be informed whether you can refund me the money or change another book for me. I am looking forward to your early reply.

今天早上我一觉醒来发现自己的房间变得好大呀!连我的水杯都比我高。我刚想坐起来，却发现自己的动作有点笨拙。我低头一看，发现竟然有六只触手，身体黑黑的。我心里一惊，心想：我难道变成了蚂蚁?我转头看向放在我床头柜上的镜子。这一看差点把我吓晕过去。我竟然真的变成了一只蚂蚁。

这时候妈妈进来了，喊道：“葛子涵，快起床吃早饭啦。吃完饭就赶紧打扫你的房间，打扫完就马上去写作业。"妈妈推开门疑惑的说："这孩子跑到哪里去玩了?“我大声喊道：“妈妈，我在这里。”可她似乎并没有听到我的话。而是径直走出了房间。我无奈地摇摇头。爬上柜子，走上了我的书桌。这时的我才发现我的桌子上好乱呐。上面有我昨天放在桌子上的巧克力包装纸。还有用来擦鼻涕的纸。而且还有吃棒棒糖撒下来的糖果碎屑，这时我看到了一群蚂蚁正在搬运糖果碎屑，一只蚂蚁看到了我就喊到你在那里干什么呢?赶紧一起来搬运食物!我赶紧加入了他们的队伍。发现这一群蚂蚁刚好直通到一个洞穴。洞穴里有很多吃的，有巧克力。有花生，有瓜子......我大吃一惊，这不就是我平常吃的食物吗?怎么都到这里来了。

这时候有一个小孩儿，他拿着一把水壶。我定睛一看。很惊讶，那个小孩儿正是我。“我"看见了这个洞穴就把水壶里的水全都倒进了洞穴里。蚂蚁们都被水淹死了。我也被水冲走了，我长喊一声：“啊——”眼睛猛的睁开发现原来这只是一场梦啊!

这时候妈妈走了进来。跟我说道：“你还在床上躺着干吗?赶紧起来打扫卫生!"我回想起刚才的情形。一大堆食物都在蚂蚁的洞穴里。再也不敢耽误打扫卫生的时间了。一闪身从床上坐了起来，拿起扫把开始打扫卫生起来。

Im glad youll come to Beijing to learn Chinese. Chinese is very useful, and many foreigners are learning it now. Its difficult for you because its quite different from English. You have to remember as many Chinese words as possible. Its also important to do some reading and writing. You can watch TV and listen to the radio to practise your listening. Do your best to talk with people in Chinese. You can learn Chinese not only from books but also from people around you. If you have any questions, please ask me. Im sure youll learn Chinese well.

原先一直听人提起这本书，今天才有机会一见。原来傅雷一家会有这样坎坷的遭遇。傅雷夫妇因为时被打为“右”倾双双自杀，他的大儿子傅聪在波兰学钢琴后来自由出入到英国被骂为叛徒。他们直到1979年才被平反，安葬在龙华公墓里。

在信里被傅雷父母对两个儿子：傅聪、傅敏和傅聪的妻子弥拉及他的孙子凌霄的爱而深深打动，里面也包含着傅雷在音乐方面的独到见解，对傅聪在波兰期间学习的谆谆教诲，叫他如何学习俄文，如何学弹谱子，如何讲礼仪，如何做人，如何对待他的老师，如何对待自己的祖国……一字一句，字字肺腑。

傅聪的回信大部分在时期已经被烧毁了，留下来的只有寥寥几封，但是也看的出他对音乐的爱，父母的爱，对祖国的热爱……而且通过写信，他在写作方面也不断提高，他经常会在信中提起他在艺术上的看法，他说他最欣赏的是巴赫(和我一样)，还有中国古代诗词，他也十分感兴趣。

快乐。快乐是童年棒棒糖的回忆;快乐是游泳池嬉闹的情景;快乐是年幼玩游戏时的笑声;快乐是夜晚一家人出去散步;快乐是……

快乐，从一年级到现在，我的心里藏着许多的快乐……

一年级，令我快乐的事是我光荣地走进人生的第二阶段——小学，啊，我终于上小学了，我认识了许多的好朋友;令我快乐的事是我光荣的成为了一名少先队员，有六年级的大哥哥大姐姐为我们挂上鲜艳的红领巾，我们在国旗下高举右手宣誓，望着五星红旗徐徐上升，我们这些祖国的花朵，都默默地在心里播下了“好好学习，天天向上”的种子。那时我们是多么快乐啊！

暑假一转眼就过了一半了，而在我前一半的生活可以说是比较充实，下面就让我说一说我暑假的生活吧。

在这个暑假里，不只有写作业，旅游也是暑假里不会少的一件事，我在这个暑假去了有名的武夷山游玩，在武夷山我游玩了雄伟的大王峰，十分窄小的一线天等一些美丽的地方。我认为我这个暑假可以算得上是游山玩水了。

暑假里，我和我的朋友还去玩了几次密室逃脱，让我收获很多。也让我明白了团队合作十分重要。暑假中运动也十分的重要。我每天都会去和朋友一起去打篮球让当天的烦恼随着汗水流泄出来。

时光总是那么的短暂，但在短暂的时光时我们不是都在学到十分多的道理，希望时间能过得慢一点，这样我们就能学到更多的道理。

过年时，我和爸爸妈妈回福建老家，顺路到泰宁大金湖玩了一天。

吃了午饭后我们就乘游艇驶入大金湖，游艇缓缓向前进，艇尾溅起了许多白色的浪花。我们似乎被绿色所包围了，湖水两边的树木郁郁葱葱，一碧如洗的天空下，绿绿的山倒映在清凌凌的湖水里，显得更绿了。远处群峰叠重，奇石竞秀，在阳光的照耀下好像有许多碎银在闪闪跳动。

游艇在导游的指引下继续前行，当游艇停稳，我们就抬头上仰，我面前出现了空中楼阁，在山洞里一柱擎天，奇特险要，导游向我们解说：“这是甘露寺，是大金湖的著名景点。”我心中不禁感叹起来：建成这样的楼阁，真是要人神合力，才使甘露寺成为这么美的人间仙境。

游艇缓慢地开到水上一线天，忽然，游艇的回音加大起来，山崖挡住了去路。只觉山穷水复疑无路时，却突然发现悬壁的转弯处出现了一条裂缝，游艇顺着这条裂缝向前行驶。这时我们抬头看天，辽阔的天空变成一条长线，使我真正领悟到水上一线的含义。

游遍了大金湖，我领略到了大金湖的绿水和青山。我陶醉于这水，沉醉于这山之中，不知不觉已经是日落时分，我们离大金湖而去了，而大金湖的美丽却永远留在我的脑海中。

Computer has considered to be one of the most important inventions in 20

Computers play an very vital role in our daily life. They can do a lot of

Last Sunday， our class held aSpringOutingin the forest park. It was a nice day. The sun was shining brightly and the flowers were swaying in the spring breeze. 请让我们孩子去做自己喜欢的事吧!有一种执著在我们心中根深蒂固——对自由的追求、对属于自己的那片蓝天的向往!也许在这过程中我们会受到伤害，但是请不要阻拦我们，让我们尽情地飞向属于我们自己的那片蓝天。等我们长大了的时候，我们可以向别人讲我们是如何去奋斗的，如何同困难做斗争的!我们一定会为我们的反抗与成功而骄傲。

今天中午，我到姥姥家吃饭。我一进门，就看到了我最喜欢的小狗一一跳跳。它的脸有些像狐狸，还有点像猫。它会拜拜、嗑瓜子呢。这时姥姥拿来了龙眼肉，馋得跳跳直拜拜。但是狗不会吃龙眼肉，它吐不出来核。它那双贪婪的小眼睛不停地望着我，我也没有办法。之后，它不停地叫唤，好像在恳求我们。过了一会儿，另一只小狗一一美妮来了。它们相互闻了闻，确认了不是敌人。而且我说话时，它们还竖着耳朵听，真是不懂装懂呀!

一盘菜上桌后，它们又瞪着餐桌一一那是烧鸡肉。跳跳又对着我拜拜，我却无动于衷。不一会儿，我们吃饭了。只见它们可怜巴巴地望着我们，好像在说：“咕噜噜，我的肚子饿了嘛!”它们真可爱呀!

随着《卡农》开始，正在做题的我稍稍抬了抬头，微微一笑。这琴声可能对别人来说十分普通，甚至弹得不那么精彩。但对我来说却有一份特殊的意义。

弹琴人是楼上的一个姐姐。因为住在同一个单元楼，她晚上练琴时，那琴声就在我们家中回荡，似乎每天晚上都能听到这琴声。开始的几天，我和妈妈都没有注意到它——毕竟本来琴声就不大，加上家里的杂音，声音就更小了。但是由于琴声每个晚上都会响起，不久，我和妈妈便注意到了它。

我忘不了第一次听到琴声时眼前出现的画面：我仿佛在一片绿油油的草地上，微风习习，树叶沙沙作响。我躺在草地上，望着蓝天白云，心里十分的惬意……每到晚上，我和妈妈都会聆听这场“免费音乐会”。妈妈一边听，一边发出阵阵感叹：“多优美的曲子呀!多动听的旋律啊!这姑娘弹得真是不错!”

时间在一天天流逝，这琴声似乎变得越来越美妙、动听了。

一天晚上，在听琴的时候，妈妈感叹似的说了一句话：“你听，楼上的小姐姐每天都弹琴，越弹越好，这就是勤奋哇!你什么时候能像这样，我就不用操心了。”说者无意，听者有心。我心里一震：对呀!这琴声每天都会响起，我应该把这琴声当成我前进的动力!自那天起，我就暗下决心，一定要勤奋!从这天起，每天晚上回来我都会认真地学习，如果劳累了，就听一下琴声，勉励自己。

每到晚上，楼上的琴声都会隐隐约约的穿过墙壁，徘徊在家中。谢谢你，姐姐;谢谢你，琴声!你们给了我动力!有你，真好!

汇成了一支声势浩大的交响曲，在广袤的大地上不断地回响着。

端午节到了，我和我的母亲到街上买来红枣、肉和粽子叶准备包粽子。

开始包棕子了，我的母亲先叫我仔细看：只见我的母亲先拿两张叶子放在手上，然后，拿一点点米放在叶子上，再拿米来把红枣或肉盖住，最后，把粽子给绑起来，这样一个粽子就做好了。

接着，我的母亲叫我也一起包粽子。我说：“好的。”刚开始包粽子还算顺利，可是就在绑粽子那里，米全部散出来了。我反复做了很多次都没有成功，有点灰心了。这时，我的母亲鼓励我说：“不要灰心！对自己要有信心。只要你努力去做，我的母亲相信没有什么事情可以难倒聪明的帆帆。”于是，我的母亲仔细地教着，我耐心地包着，包着……后来我终于学会了包粽子。

粽子煮熟了，我吃着自己包的香甜美味的粽子，心里暗暗地想着：

世上没有困难的事，只要对自己有信心，再大的困难也难倒不了我。

The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, usually

in February or March in the Gregorian calendar. As early as the Western Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 25), it had become a festival with great significance.

This days important activity is watching lanterns. Throughout the Han

Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), Buddhism flourished in China. One emperor heard that

Buddhist monks would watch sarira, or remains from the cremation of Buddhas

body, and light lanterns to worship Buddha on the 15th day of the 1st lunar

month, so he ordered to light lanterns in the imperial palace and temples to

show respect to Buddha on this day. Later, the Buddhist rite developed into a

grand festival among common people and its influence expanded from the Central

Plains to the whole of China.

Till today, the lantern festival is still held each year around the

country. Lanterns of various shapes and sizes are hung in the streets,

attracting countless visitors. Children will hold self-made or bought lanterns

to stroll with on the streets, extremely excited. "Guessing lantern riddles"is

an essential part of the Festival.

Lantern owners write riddles on a piece of paper and post them on the

lanterns. If visitors have solutions to the riddles, they can pull the paper out

and go to the lantern owners to check their answer. If they are right, they will

get a little gift. The activity emerged during peoples enjoyment of lanterns in

the Song Dynasty (960-1279). As riddle guessing is interesting and full of

wisdom, it has become popular among all social strata.

People will eat yuanxiao, or rice dumplings, on this day, so it is also

called the "Yuanxiao Festival."Yuanxiao also has another name, tangyuan. It is

small dumpling balls made of glutinous rice flour with rose petals, sesame, bean

paste, jujube paste, walnut meat, dried fruit, sugar and edible oil as filling.

Tangyuan can be boiled, fried or steamed. It tastes sweet and delicious. What’s

more, tangyuan in Chinese has a similar pronunciation with "tuanyuan”, meaning

reunion. So people eat them to denote union, harmony and happiness for the

family.

In the daytime of the Festival, performances such as a dragon lantern

dance, a lion dance, a land boat dance, a yangge dance, walking on stilts and

beating drums while dancing will be staged. On the night, except for magnificent

lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Most families spare some fireworks

from the Spring Festival and let them off in the Lantern Festival. Some local

governments will even organize a fireworks party. On the night when the first

full moon enters the New Year, people become really intoxicated by the imposing

fireworks and bright moon in the sky.
