卡西莫多是个极其丑陋的聋瞎敲钟人。他遭到了亲人及整个社会的遗弃。但厄运不但没污染他的心，反而使他成为了一个善良的人。他多次救下了爱斯美拉达，还常帮助无家可归的孤儿。命运给了他爱上爱斯美拉达的机会，可上帝却在他生命结束之时跟他开了个莫大的玩笑——在另一个世界与爱斯美拉达相爱。故事是悲惨的，可他们留下的精神却是永恒的!
