Today, I went to drive in Monument Valley. We almost bumped our butts off. We made our own monument. We went in Monticello to go tothe restroom. It was a science lab. I copied a wolf on a computer. I also used handles to control tarish liquid that has iron in it. I also also did was control a ball. Last, I made a rose for mom and much more. Today is a supertastic day!

Today, I hiked on a trail in Arches national Park. It was the longest trail I ever hiked on. It was a rocky and dangerous mountain. I was extra exhausted. When I was at the top, WOW! It was an arch called Delicate Arch. It looks like Athena looking over everybody’s eyes to see if they are obeying rules. How can a loose little arch stand so high. So today was a miracle.

如果缺乏动词，新闻标题会显得单调、千篇一律，例如：

Bill Gates and the Microsoft

American views on China

这两则标题显得大而空泛，华而不实，没有提供关于新闻具体内容的实际信息，应该尽量避免这种写法。

动词的选择

动词使新闻标题变得活跃，但它本身必须是一个活跃的词，能最准确、生动地描述新闻事实，因为标题里没有多余的空间来容纳形容词，所有修饰性的内容，包括程度、颜色、感觉等，都必须依靠这个动词来体现。因此，要尽量避免使用“ask”这类平淡的动词和表达含糊的混合动词，例如“American government gives views on Mexican’s racism”，如果报道对象“American government”在谴责“Mexican’s racism”时用了很有力很明确的语句，那么就应该避免“gives views”这种含糊的写法。

此外，还应该尽量使用表达力强、有力的动词，尽量不使用较弱的助动词“be”、“have”作为新闻标题的主要动词。

时态的使用

一种观点认为新闻标题应使用现在时态，因为所报道的事件虽然已经过去，但它是新近发生的，对读者来说仍然是第一次了解该事件，现在时态能给他们一种事件正在发生的感觉，这对新闻报道来说很重要;另一种观点认为新闻标题不能用现在时，例如法庭报道，对于过去发生的事件，绝对不能用现在时态，避免产生歧义，例如应该写成：“Old retiree stole grocery loaves”，不能写成“Old retiree steals grocery loaves”，否则会使人误会此人一直在继续这种偷窃行为，引起争端。甚至认为任何含有过去的时间因素的标题都应使用过去时态。这一观点可能深受上世纪70年代以来美国新闻学者梅耶(Philip Meyer)的精确新闻报道理论的影响。

那么，究竟应该使用什么时态?考虑的重要依据是看使用现在时态会不会带来歧义，如果不会，则适宜使用现在时。英语新闻标题中不宜使用“yesterday”这个词，尤其是在早报的标题中，因为早报所报道的几乎所有事情都可以被认为是发生在“昨天”的。但如果报道的是将来要发生的事，则应尽量使用确切的时间，如：“Paper industry will strike tomorrow /next week/next month”。再如：“Beijing to fulfill promises for 2008 Olympics”，即使省略了“will”，意思仍很清楚。

有一种新闻标题采用“be+动词不定式”结构，助动词“be”通常省略：

Princess (is) to Visit Baffinaland in August.

Financier (is) killed by burglars.

Countries (are) to Spend More on Cancer Research.

使用将来时态报道即将和日后将会发生的事情是很常见的。

主动语态与被动语态

在英语新闻标题中，主动语态比被动语态的表达效果更好。试比较下面两则新闻标题：

France rejects EU Constitution

EU Constitution rejected by France

对比后，我们发现，使用被动语态的新闻标题，比主动语态标题长，单词数量多，这对有长度限制的标题来说是很不利的。同样长度的标题，主动语态所提供的信息内容更多，结构更生动，而且可以有更多的空间去阐述其他内容，例如“Boy found dead by teacher”如果改写成主动语态“Teacher found boy dead in lab”，不但阐述更加自然，包含的信息也更多。

例外的情况是当事件或动作的承受人比执行者更重要时，可以使用被动语态。

关于动词，还有一个问题需要注意。英语中有不少单词既能作名词，又能作动词，其词性是根据具体语法位置来决定的。写作标题时如果省略了一些前后辅助辨别的词汇，单词的词性就可能变得不确定和含糊，下面这些单词都属于此类：

tax, ban, plan, drive, move, probe, protest, bat, share, watch, cut, axe, ring, bank, rises, state, pay, pledge, talks, riot, attack, appeal, back, face, sign, jump, drug

英语新闻标题的动词应尽量使用一般现在时，但在遇到该动词兼有名词和动词两种词性的情况下，有时可以使用过去时态，以使这个动词的词性更加清楚，避免产生歧义。

英文日记通常由书端和正文两个部分组成，英语日记的格式与汉语日记的格式大致相同，在每篇日记的第一行写上日期、星期和天气，接下来写内容。日期、星期和天气的撰写1有几个要注意的地方：

一、年、月、日都写时，通常以月、日、年为顺序，月份可以缩写，日和年用逗号隔开。例如：December 18, 2003或者Dec. 18,

2003。

二、如果要写星期，星期要紧挨日期，它既可以放在日期前面，也可以放在日期后面，星期也可以省略不写。星期和日期之间不用标点，但要空一格，星期也可缩写。例如：Thursday

Dec. 18, 2003或Dec.18，2003 Thursday

三、天气情况必不可少。天气一般用一个形容词如:Sunny, Fine, Rainy, Snowy等表示。天气通常位于日记的右上角。

纵览全国历年优秀作文，不难发现，语言的出彩和深刻的文化思考就是大多数文章成功的主要原因。如何才能在作文中做到这两点呢?其中一个有效的方法就是巧妙地使用诗词，用诗词打扮自己作文的语言，用诗词为文章增加文化的厚度。

在作文中用好诗词的途径很多，或是利用诗词巧拟标题，或是妙用为题记，或是化用诗词故事、结构构思自己的作文。在这里我们重点来讲讲如何在文章语段中使用诗词增添文采。

一是直接引用诗词。

一般可以围绕话题，发散思维，搜寻相关的诗词，排比成文。比如下面关于“生命”主题的一段文字，就是引用了四位诗人的诗句对“生命”作了解释：

生命就是龚自珍“落红不是无情物，化作春泥更护花”的献身精神;生命就是文天祥“人生自古谁无死，留取丹心照汗青”的浩然正气;生命就是苏东坡“一蓑风雨任平生”的超脱与豁达;生命就是杜甫“感时花溅泪，恨别鸟惊心”的无奈与感伤。

直接引用诗词让我们亲切地感受到了这四位诗人的形象，而排比成文更显示了作者对语言的把握能力，使文章的文采“跃然纸上”。再比如作文《望月》中的一个片段：

“惟江上之清风，与山间之明月，耳得之而为声，目遇之而成色，取之不尽，用之不竭，是造物者之无尽藏也，而吾与子之所共适也。”月是我们应该珍惜的人人共享的天赐之福。“花间一壶酒，独酌无相亲。举杯邀明月，对影成三人。”月是我们招之即来，尽可倾诉的知己。“床前明月光，疑是地上霜。举头望明月，低头思故乡。”月是游子思乡念亲的一杯苦茶。“人生代代无穷己，江月年年望相似。不知江月待何人，但见长江送流水。”月又是我们参透历史，顿悟人生的一剂良药。

对诗句的引用和评价淋漓尽致地将作者对诗词的分析鉴赏和感悟能力展现在了我们面前，让那轮万古的明月高悬在我们的上空，使我们遥想百年、千年之前古人的梦想，使文章有了深刻的文化思考。

一是化用诗词。

所谓化用，就是截取诗词的某一部分直接变成我们作文语言或者是用自己的语言去演绎诗词的意境。比如下面这些语段：

乐观就是那直上青天里的一行白鹭;乐观就是那沉舟侧畔的万点白帆;乐观就是那鹦鹉洲头随风拂动的萋萋芳草;乐观就是那化作春泥更护花的点点落红。——话题“乐观”片段

在众人皆醉的麻木空气中，你选择了清醒;在众人皆浊的恶浊世道上，你选择了清白。褪去了华服，你选择了荷叶制的衣裳;逐出了京城，你选择了汨罗江的波涛。——《面对选择》片段

出自内心真诚的心灵选择，才能勾画鹦鹉洲上的萋萋芳草，才能点化二十四桥的清风明月，才能渲染香炉峰间的日照紫烟。——《美丽一次》片段

是的，摒除了浮华，去掉了雕饰，我们就像一枝出自清水的芙蓉，透着迷人的清香。——《简单》片段

天空中一丝云儿飘过，淡淡的、自由自在，你觉得真好，这就是语文;初升的朝阳光芒万丈，你觉得生机勃发，这就是语文;如血的残阳映红半边天，让人无限留恋，别忘了这也是语文。语文是那巍巍昆仑，是那草叶上久久不肯滴落的露珠，是古城旧都中国色天香的牡丹;语文是那无声的冷月，是那静谧的荷塘，是秦皇岛外滔天白浪里的打渔船，是那青天里的一行白鹭，是那沉舟侧畔的万点白帆，是那山重水复后的柳暗花明。——《冷香飞上语文》

这些文字没有直接引用杜甫、刘禹锡、龚自珍等的诗句，而是将他们诗句中的意象搬用过来作为自己作文语言中的一个成分或是作者用自己的语言对诗句的意境进行大胆的描写。这样的语段让我们联想起诗句的意境，带领我们进入似曾相似的诗歌意境，但是又能感受到作文创作者的心声。同样它也能增加文章的文采。

当然写作这样的语段，最重要的是作者对诗词的分析、感悟和概括能力。如果不明白诗的意境，随便套用，那便是“画虎不成反类犬”了。

Now I want to say something about my dream. What is my dream? I often ask

myself. In my mind, everyone shall have his own dream. I think that having a

dream means that we have an idea, and then we will do all the things to achieve

1.教师引导学生回忆课文，明确作文要写自己熟悉的东西。

我们学习了鲁迅先生的散文《从百草园到三味书屋》，文章真实地再现了鲁迅先生儿时的乐园--百草园，使我们获得了美好、愉悦的审美感受。鲁迅先生是怎样描绘这个儿时乐园的呢?

(学生回答后教师补充：那里有碧绿的菜畦，光滑的石井栏，高大的皂荚树，紫红的桑葚，鸣蝉长吟，肥胖的黄蜂，轻捷的叫天子，油蛉、蟋蟀、蜈蚣、斑蝥、何首乌、木莲藤、覆盆子……)

教师问：如此细致的描写是建立在什么基础上的呢?

学生答：鲁迅先生熟悉那里的生活，百草园中的一草一木，都是那样亲切与熟悉，所以写起来充满了无尽的童趣。

我曾经在20年前，写过这样一篇文章，题目是《开花的课桌》，文章是这样写的：

有一天，我看到学生的课桌上插了一枝迎春，枝条上是繁密的金色小花，如一串耀目的阳光。教室里被映上了一层淡淡的暖意。以后，打碗花、紫地盯映山红、葛花……学生的课桌上花事纷繁起来，演示着春天的进程。孩子们穿过乡间的羊肠小道来学校，路上只要一弯腰便能采一把花在手里。这些乡里孩子，有的还穿着露趾的鞋，穿着哥哥姐姐肥大的旧衣裤，他们无忧无虑地吹着麦笛，摇着手里的野花，沿着弯弯的小路跑着跳着，到了学校，便把花插在课桌上。有的孩子，还用细线把小花枝绑在铅笔上，看上去，他象是捏着花枝在写作业。花枝轻抚小脸，让人想不清，是花枝染红了小脸，还是小脸染红了花枝。

身临授知求知的方舟(教室)，面对朝气蓬勃的孩子，目睹课桌、讲桌上的野花，激-情难抑，遂下笔成文。身为教师的我，在想象的天空中翱翔，汇自然世态、人情于一室，集采花、插花、爱花于一桌。于是文思喷涌，左右逢源，运笔随着激-情驱动的喜悦感挥洒自如，下笔有神。文章以"孩子是春天的另一种姿势"为纲来驾驭激-情和所感，使之在教室里、在课桌上、在讲桌上、在孩子们的心灵上，表现出另一种更浓更深更有意义的春天美景，使感受美升华为思想美。为什么我写的如此的好呢?(那是因为我写作的内容是我最动情的东西。)

教师点拨，学生回答后明确：写自己最动情的东西。

Since I go to school, I start to form the habit of noting what I have read.

I found it is very helpful for me, because I get bad memory, I will forget what

I have learned in the class soon, so my teacher asks me write down what I get.

Now, after class, I will open the note, go over what I have learned.

英语写作是中考中检测学生语言应用能力的最重要部分。

提高中考写作水平，需要有效的训练。正确无误的造句能力和各种文体的写作技巧，两者缺一不可。

正确无误的造句能力

这得从初中一开始就抓起，首先可以从替换单词、扩词造句训练，做到有效积累，扩大视野，灵活运用。

如：如何修饰一个最简单、最常用的“说”？我们就可以写出许多：say some thing gladly（merrily excitedly sadly kindly worriedly loudly sweetl ytimidly bravely confidently）

还可说say some thing in a friendly way.替换了一个副词，生动地表达了说话时的不同心情。

扩词有：play football——play foot ball in the play ground——play football in the play ground with my friends——play football in the play ground with my friends after school.对其中的动词我们还可替换成playgames，play the piano…等，后面的状语都可以有相应的更换。

又如：a friend——my friend——my close friend——my close friend named Mary.以此类推，我们可以模仿着进行扩句训练。The students love life.——The studentsof Class One love enjoyable school life verymuch.为了避免句型的重复，我们还可以转换不同的句型，来表达同一内容。如：The dictionary is so big that it doesn’t fit in tomy pocket.——The dic ti on ary is too big to fit into my pocket.——The dictionary is not small enough to fit into my pocket.

这样训练写句的方法，可以帮助学生克服心里先想好中文，然后逐字翻译的不良习惯，从而造的句子符合英语表达的习惯。

在平时的学习中，我们可以试着用课文中所学的句型和词汇，设计一些中译英句子，虽然对初中学生有一定的难度，但长此以往可以有效地掌握正确的句子结构，巩固所学词汇，做到活学活用，为中考作文作好铺垫。

在《牛津》7B开始，我们针对所学的句型和学生日常学习生活的真实情景，设计了许多中译英，如：

1.尽管我的爷爷奶奶已80多岁了，他们还能每天早上坚持锻炼。(although…)

2.你与其他同学不同，你总是喜欢独自一人呆在家里。(be different from)

3.去天目山参观是一件很开心的事。(It’sfun…)

4.我有个建议，把我们旧的书报杂志送给班级阅览角，这样同学们就会有更多的书可以分享。(suggestion)

5.在暴风雨中，我们最好不放风筝，因为它可能让我们触电。(because,get a electric shock)

6.新的隧道将把上海和崇明岛连接起来。(linkup…with)

7.这位驾驶员从这次事故中吸取了教训。(learn a lesson)

8.我们赢了这场比赛，他们看上去很失望。(win，look)

9.你们校运会准备工作进展如何？(get on with…)

10.我们盼望着2008年的北京奥运会.(look forward to)有了扎实的组词、造句能力，要写好一篇中考作文，就如同裁缝做服装准备好了上等的面料，如果学生对中考中可能出现的各种文体的格式，一般行文规律能了解掌握，那么中考作文定能获得满意的成绩。

Dont you see the heavy smokes from the big chimneys? Dont you smell the gas from the motors all around the streets? Weve got much dirtier air! The iceburgs are melting from the warmer winter because of the air pollution!

难道你没有看到浓重的烟雾从烟囱里冒出来吗？难道你没有在街上闻到从机动车上排出来的气体吗？我们得到太多肮脏的空气了！因为气体污染，冰山在暖冬的时候融化了不少。

Dont you see there are less lives in the water? Dont you see that we must pay higher cost in water processing? Weve got much darker water running around! The oceans are in danger.

难道你没有看到水中的生物越来越少了吗？难道你没有看到我们必须花更多的成本加工水源吗？我们到处开采深水。海洋正处于危险之中。

Dont you see the mountains getting bald ? Dont you see our ground becoming hollow ? Weve been exhausting the resources beneath the earth. Our grandchildren will live on nothing.

难道你没有看到山峰正变得光秃秃吗？难道你没有看到土地正变得空空的吗？我们正耗尽地下的资源。我们的孙儿将无法依靠任何事情生活下去。

We have only one globe. Treasure the mother nature!

January 21

It was cooler than yesterday. One of my father’s friends invited me to eat red bayberries. You must know it is unusual. Because we will climb the hill to eat red bayberries. There is no chance to eat red bayberries in the hill for the people who don’t live in Beijing. On the hill, you can breathe the fresh air, you can listen birds singing and you can eat red bayberries. It was enjoyable. It is said there are wild pigs in the hill. What a beautiful natural.

January 22

Today I found time was a cruel thing. Whatever man is, time always goes on. It won’t stay to wait for somebody. You can’t use anything to exchange time. Time is also a fair thing. Although you have a lot of money or you enjoy high reputation, time won’t leave them more. Today I found I hadn’t enough time. Although I have 50-day holiday, but I found I had a lot of things to do. I had a lot of homework to do and I had something necessary to do.

January 23

I have rested for 10 days. In these days, I felt very bored. I didn’t know to do what. Although I had a lot of things to do, I felt uncomfortable. I was ill because of the cold weather. I was tired, sleepy and had no strength. My parents are worried about my health. in fact, it didn’t matter. I was always in the room with air-conditioner and opened it in a low temperature. So when I went out, the high temperature disagreed to me. Finally, I was ill.

Today I feel I like Mrs. Tian’s English class more than before. In her

class we can learn knowledge in the game. In her class, she makes an experiment:

she puts many salt in the water, then put an egg in this salty water. The egg is

floating. I love this English class.

My favorite season is summer. It’s hot in summer. There is a summer

vacation in summer. I don’t go to school. I think many children like this

season, because they can eat ice-cream and go swimming. I can go swimming.

Sometimes I go to the beach with my parents. Sometimes I go to the swimming pool

with my friends. I usually visit many places in summer vacation.
