Chinese New Year or Spring Festival  the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It  sometimes called the "Lunar New Year" by Englh speakers. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; th day  called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Years Eve  known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve".

Outside of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, Chinese New Year  also celebrated in countries with significant Han Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. In countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States, although Chinese New Year  not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Australia Post, Canada Post, and the US Postal Service sues New Years themed stamps.

Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It  also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper  a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by whing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition  a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wh peace and happiness for everyone.

Although the Chinese calendar traditionally does not use continuously numbered years, outside China its years are often numbered from the reign of Huangdi. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year 2009 "Chinese Year" 4707, 4706, or 4646.

During the summer holidays, I went to my grandmothers home. One evening after supper, I stood on the balcony to look at the sky.

The stars in the sky were twinkling. Some were crowded, and others were separate. Then I found that the stars were not the same colour. They were white, grey, light blue and orange. It was really beautiful. At that time, the sky was like blue damask decorated by millions of bright dimonds.

Before the Spring Festival, people go home, no matter where they are. Usually, we in the new years Eve dinner. Then the family sat together to share their lives or aircraft. My room is very simple but warm. My room’s color is white.

At first, I think it is too drap, but now think it is comfortable for not too much color. There is a small bed, a desk, a bookshelf and a wardrobe in the room. It is very simple, right? But on the bed there are a lot of lovely dolls on my bed. There are teddy bear, Mickey Mouse, dolls and so on. I love the most is the bookshelf. On the shelf, there are different kinds of books. Summer can be very hot in southern Taiwan where the temperature usually

goes up to 32"C or more. Because of the heat it is a trying experience to go to

school or do anything else in a place that is not air-conditioned. Also because

of this I stay at home most of the time during the summer vacation and

occasionally go to the beach to plunge myself into the cool water as a way to

keep my body less sticky. Actually I like swimming think nothing is more

refreshing than a swim. In the summer vacation that has ended I went swimming

many times with my classmates we all had a good time. This summer vacation,

however, was not spent entirely in seeking fun. As a second-year senior student

I had to prepare myself for the college entrance examinations that were a year

away. In other words, I must find time to study, too. So I divided my time

between work play during the summer vacation derived benefit from this

arrangement.

To tell you the truth, Fathers Day has been in my heart for many years. In

the past, I only knew about Childrens Day, and I didnt even know when Fathers

Day was coming. But this year, I suddenly wanted to celebrate this festival for

my father, so I secretly decided to give it to my father. A happy Fathers

Day.

After eleven oclock, I quietly got up and stared at the alarm clock,

waiting for twelve oclock. At twelve oclock, I rushed into Dads room and

pushed Dad. Dad turned around with difficulty, and before he could ask, I said

Thirdly, I want to maintain my academic of my specialized course or do more better than ever before by working harder. Finishing my assignments and notes is what I need to insist on every day.

Just like the old saying goes, “Nothing is impossible to a willing heart”. I have a strong belief that I can realize my dream as long as I persist in it and study hard with plenty of time and patience.

从小我们就教育孩子要成为一个孝敬父母、有爱心的人，并且家长自身也通过自己的行为潜移默化地教育、引导孔心雨。

孔心雨在学习上从来都是自己完成，我们从小就教育她要独立自主的去学习，不管是语文、数学，还是历史、地理，她都是自己学习课本完成作业，从不让我们做家长的操太多的心。如果她有时学习效果不好没有考出好成绩，她自己也会觉得不好意思，非常自责，这是我们家长能做的就是给予她鼓励和支持，以及提供一些学习方法，但落实到怎样学习，还是要靠她自己去独立完成。学习是孩子的主业，也是家长最关心、最操心的一个方面，孩子能在学习上自我独立的做好，这也是孩子对家长“孝”心的最直接表现。

孔心雨生活上自己的事也能自己完成，既是培养自己的能力，也是体现自己的孝心。每天早晨起床后，她都会主动把床收拾、铺整齐，平时自己换下来的衣服自己清洗。她对做饭菜也很感兴趣，非常愿意学会后为爸爸妈妈服务。假期里，在我们的指导下她学会了一些简单的做菜方法。周六、周日，她会主动要求帮大人洗碗，尽力减少家长的家务劳动，让我们非常欣慰。

孔心雨也很关心家人。有时，她妈妈工作累了，孔心雨会主动为妈妈按摩肩头、捶捶后背，给妈妈倒水。前一段时间，她外婆脚骨折了，孔心雨每周休息时间都要同我们一道去看望外婆，陪外婆聊天逗外婆开心。每年父母生日时，孔心雨都会发挥她喜欢画画的爱好，给我们送上一张她自己手绘的生日贺卡并写上祝福的话语送给我们。有时，她还会用自己积攒的零花钱，为父母买一些小礼物。

孔心雨生活上也比较独立自强。我和她妈妈经常晚上加班，她放学时会给我们打电话说她放学了，如果我们都有事。孔心雨就会自己回家泡方便面吃，吃完后自己做作业学习，然后自己做作业学习，然后自己练钢琴，到晚上十点过时自己洗脸洗脚睡觉。常常我们晚上回家时，孔心雨都已经睡着了，只有卧室的灯还亮着因为毕竟她一个人在家，有点害怕，所以开灯睡觉……她很体贴父母，晚上从不大点还要我们赶回家陪她，而是说她自己在家会很好的，让我们路上慢点小心。这些都让我们做家长的觉得孩子真得长大了。

孩子也很懂事，从不对我们提无理的要求，自己做错了事也知道主动认错。总之，虽然没有什么惊天动地的事迹，但一点一滴的日常行为，在我们家长眼里，孔心雨就是一个懂事，孝敬、体贴父母，生活上自立自强的好孩子。

Dear Mr. Seaton，

Thank you very much for taking me with you on that splendid outing to

London. It was the first time that I had seen the Tower or any of the other

famous sights. If Id gone alone, I couldnt have seen nearly as much, because I

wouldnt have known my way about.

The weather was splendid on that day, which I thought was rare. I still

remember some people told me that in Britain there was weather and no climate.

During the same day, it might snow in the morning, rain at noon, shine in the

afternoon and be windy before the night falls. So I think I was lucky.

I think the river trip was the best thing of all. London really came alive

for me as we saw it from the Thames during that wonderful journey down to

Greenwich. It was all tremendously exciting - a day that I shall never

forget.
