Christmas is a truly amazing phenomenon. The day and season perpetuate a miraculous, historical event as an annual presence that challenges an often rough, cruel, and egotistical creature — the human being — to become open and amenable to their Creator’s vision. In Britain, Christmas Day is normally spent at home, with the family, and it is regarded as a celebration of the family and its continuity. Preparations start well in advance, with the sending of Christmas cards and installation of a decorated Christmas tree in a prominent place in the home. 在英国，圣诞节往往在家和家人一起过，且被视为对家庭和睦的一种庆祝。准备工作很早就开始了，大家寄贺卡且在家最显眼的地方装饰圣诞树。尽管这已经成为了根深蒂固的传统，圣诞树最早是由维多利亚女王的丈夫，阿尔伯特王子在1840年从德国引入这一风俗，且开始流行起来。一些房子用常青植物(冬天不会掉叶子的植物)装点;前门挂圣洁的花圈，屋内用圣洁的花冠，常春藤和皮毛装饰。一捆捆的槲寄生经常放在门口上方——任何从下走过的情侣都必须互吻!要准备的传统食物：甜馅的派，一个花式的圣诞蛋糕和圣诞布丁。人人都有自己喜爱的食谱，但都用足了香料，坚果，干果和白兰地。礼物是买来包好的，通常都是在圣诞夜摆放在圣诞树下的。圣诞节也是世俗的宗教节日，许多家庭喜欢在圣诞夜去教堂参加午夜活动，或者在圣诞节早上去教堂庆祝圣诞。

圣诞节最兴奋的要属孩子了，他们在壁炉边或者床角挂起袜子(一只旧袜子，或者贪心点，一个枕头)，来装圣诞老人的礼物。英国的圣诞老人或者叫Santa Claus最先在1653年被木刻下来，穿着传统的红白服饰，但是关于圣诞老人坐驯鹿拉的雪撬来，并且下到烟囱里给孩子送礼物的故事却是来源于美国的。

实际上，人人都在圣诞节那天下午早早地坐下吃圣诞晚餐，烤火鸡是传统食物，但有些家庭更喜欢鹅或者烤牛肉。在圣诞布丁之后上的菜就是热气腾腾的火鸡。白兰地斟在布丁上，然后点燃。晚饭后，所有人都去散散步放松一下，玩玩游戏，赏玩他们的礼物或者看看电视。

Today is December 25, Christmas.

Early in the morning, father, mother and I said: each other "Merry Chrismas!" Dad said, do they observe Christmas day in western countries like our Chinese Spring Festival. Mother immediately open a computer access to the "Christmas", "Christmas tree" and "Santa Claus" history and legend. I feel very curious, is also very interesting!

I took out a few days ago quietly do mom and dads beloved gift. Father al Jefferson said happily: "Thank you! Thank you!" Also picked me up! Im so happy!

In the afternoon, my mother took me to square grain transportation by buying a Christmas tree. What a lot of people there! Mum bought me many gifts, singing "Jingle bell" toy Santa Claus and there are legends of the magic wand... Although mother not to buy me a Christmas tree, but I already very satisfied.

Back home, I open the gift bag, put the Santa on the ground, as he ran to sing "Jingle bell, Jingle bell..." We were amused. Father reminded me that I said: "a gift to cherish!" I say: "good, must be!"

Today, is really a happy Christmas!

今天是12月25日，圣诞节。

一大早，我和爸爸、妈妈互相说：“Merry Chrismas!”爸爸说，西方国家的人过圣诞节就像我们中国人过春节那样热闹。妈妈立刻打开电脑查阅了“圣诞节”、“圣诞树”和“圣诞老人”的来历及传说。我觉得很好奇，也很有趣!

我拿出了几天前悄悄地做给爸爸、妈妈的心爱的礼物。爸爸高兴地连声说：“Thank you! Thank you!”还把我抱起来了呢!我开心极了!

下午，妈妈带我去漕运广场买圣诞树。那里的人真多呀!妈妈给我买了许多礼物，有会唱“Jingle bell”的玩具圣诞老人，有传说中神奇的魔术棒……虽然妈妈没有给我买圣诞树，但是我已经很满足了。

回到家后，我把礼包打开，把圣诞老人放在地上，只见他边跑边唱“Jingle bell，jingle bell……”我们都被逗乐了。爸爸提醒我说：“礼物要好好珍惜哦!”我说：“好，一定!”

今天，真是一个快乐的圣诞节!

Rise and shine on Christmas morning! The children are always the first ones to wake up, some even do at four. Present wrappers everywhere! They look into their presents with a big smile on their face and oh dear….I hope no one’s disappointed. I feel sorry for anyone that got pink underwear. Children play while dinner is prepared by the adults. The Christmas dinner are usually eaten together by relatives. The tradition of Christmas pudding and roosters are usually eaten with deserts afterwards. The rest of the day is usually games and fun before the good days all come to an end.

Christmas Day

圣诞节

Christmas Day falls on the twenty-fifth of December. It is a very happy day for many boys and girls. Before the term ends in some schools, the children act a nativity or “birth” play, showing how Jesus was born in a stable.

12月25日是圣诞节。对许多男孩和女孩来说，这天是个非常开心的日子。在某些学校，学期结束前，孩子们会表演有关（耶稣）诞生或出生的戏剧，用来（向大家）展示耶稣是如何在马厩里出生的。

On the twenty-fourth of December, all children are very excited. Usually they are sent to bed early so that their parents can get the presents ready. The younger children think that Father Christmas will come down the chimney or fireplace, so they hang up a sock for him to put presents in. The greedy ones even hang up a pillow-case or a sack to try to get more presents. Later that night, father or mother will put presents in the sock, and leave others at the side of the bed.

在12月24日这天，所有的小孩都很兴奋。他们常常被（父母）早早地赶上床去睡觉，以便他们的父母能准备好礼物。年幼一点的小孩认为圣诞老人将从烟囱或壁炉里下来，所以他们挂起袜子，方便圣诞老人把礼物放进去。有些贪心的人，为了能得到更多的礼物，甚至把枕套或布袋挂起来。晚一些时候，爸爸或妈妈将礼物放进袜子，并把其他礼物放在（孩子们的）床边。

On Christmas morning, the children wake up very early. Some even turn on the light at two oclock, and most of them are awake by six oclock, and the young ones play while the dinner is prepared. At about one oclock in the afternoon, the Christmas dinner is brought in. The turkey or chicken is quickly eaten. Children search in their Christmas pudding for new coins which are hidden in it. The rest of the day is full of games and eating until the happiest of all Christmas holidays comes to an end.

圣诞节的早上，小孩们很早就醒来了。一些人甚至在凌晨两点开灯，但大多数小孩会在六点醒来，孩子们在（大人们）准备晚餐的时候玩耍。下午一点，圣诞大餐出炉了。火鸡或鸡腿总是很快被抢光。孩子们寻找着属于他们的圣诞布丁是为了确认金币是否有藏在里面。在剩余的时间里，（人们）便是玩游戏和吃食物直到最开心幸福的圣诞节结束。
