读了丁肇中先生的《应有格物致知精神》一文深有同感，认识到我们学生在学习方法上确实有很多弊病，但对于丁先生对“格物致知”的理解我仍抱有疑问，因此就借这次机会来谈谈我个人的看法。

文章中说“真正”的格物致知是“从探察物体而得到知识，并就此认为格物致知就是“我们所谓的实验”。韩维志在译评《大学》时就曾明确指出《大学》的原文缺少对“格物致知”的阐释，古人因此也做了诸多不同的见解，甚至是大理学家朱熹也曾专门对“格物致知”补缀了一篇论文。然而，没有一个人敢说他的“格物致知”就是真正的“格物致知”，那么对儒学研究不深的丁先生如何可谓“真正”的“格物致知”呢?对此我实在无法认同。

而那勤于格物的阳明先生也恐怕是受冤了。丁先生认为他“格竹七日而不得正果”是因为他“把探究外界”误认为是探讨自己，并于后文说要“格竹”就应“栽种竹子，以研究它生长的过程，要把叶子切下来拿到显微镜下去观察”，这番话着实让人无语。我想丁先生大概是混淆了哲学和实践的概念。儒学无疑是一种哲学，而哲学是一种由内而外的思想体现，与由外及内的实践完全不同。用政治哲学家欧克肖特的话说，哲学是理论的理论，它高度抽象，与实践隔绝，它志在理解而非改变世界，而当其转化为实践时也就失去了其作为学术的学术品格。也就是说哲学本身就是要优先探索自身，然后才能推己及人的。那么这与“栽种”和“拿到显微镜下观察”又有何干呢?想来实在是可笑至极。

最后，“经书上的道理可推之于四海，传之于万世”竟也被丁先生一同否认了，他竟认为这种观点不适用于现今，这同样是混淆了概念。如果当年的马克思列宁主义没有传给“四海”的中国人，社会主义又怎会有今天的这般“伟业”呢?丁先生所谓的“现今”恐怕只能指代重视事实的实践科学，对于“百家争鸣”的哲学而言道理是永远可以传于“四海”、“万世”的。

这样看来，丁先生对儒学的态度实在有些不可思议。那么丁先生的“格物致知”就是完全错误的吗?也不尽然。以丁先生取得的成就来看，他的观点必然有其可取性。我不懂实践科学，但我想丁先生对实践的态度是绝对值得称道的，而且学习方法的问题在国内也的确屡见不鲜，丁先生能够从大体上给出解决办法着实令人敬佩。但是对于丁先生不严谨的求知态度，我们也必须加以指正。

那么，究竟什么是真正的“格物致知”呢?小人不才，目光短浅，也不敢妄下定论，但终归还是有些想法的。永远保持对事物的好奇心，并孜孜不倦地汲取知识，我想这大概就是真正的“格物致知”了。所以，只要坚持求知的态度，相信终有一天“格物致知”的真谛会浮出水面。

范进就是这样一个被八股文残害的人。他听闻自己中举，却发了疯了，拍手、大笑，头发散乱，满脸污泥，一身的水，想像起他那副狼狈的样子，忽然觉得他有点可怜。家境贫寒，寒窗苦读几十年，只为中举，现在中了举之后，难免受不了刺激。这都怨那罪恶的封建制度，它深深地毒害了知识分子，给知识分子们带来了无尽的苦难。

范进在中举前后人们对待他的态度真是不能相比较。起初，范进向老丈人借盘费去乡试时，被老丈人一口啐在脸上，骂了一个狗血喷头。可当范进中举的消息一得知，这对待范进的态度就像是由一只凶猛残忍的老虎一下子变成了乖巧听话的小绵羊一样，不仅送给范进银子，在起初时还说范进一无是处，而在中举之后却大为赞赏。邻居也纷纷送给他东西，这些都真切地反映了人们趋炎附势的丑陋嘴脸。

张乡绅来恭贺范进中举时，俩人彼此间不断说客套话，张乡绅还给范进送银子，说甚么“年谊世好”实际是为了拉拢和范进的关系。从他假惺惺的语言便可看出他的虚伪。除了虚伪，我觉得他还是个道貌岸然之辈范进没中举之前，他家人“已是饿得两眼都看不见了”，也不见张乡绅派人问候、送米甚么的。而当这天早上，范进中举后，才过了多久，张乡绅便得知了消息，火速赶来套关系，又送房子又送银两。也许张乡绅本来就空着这么一所房子，就等着童生中举，然后马上去拉拢亲近。所以在恭贺范进时，才会马上提出让他们搬进自家空房。可见他的奸猾势利。

There are many arguments about the advantages and disadvantages of examinations. Some people think that examinations can help them review the lessons regularly, while others maintain that too many examinations have frustrated them.

To me, I think an examination is a good thing for both teachers and students. Teachers can find out how much the students have grasped and then improve their teaching; students, on the other hand, will learn what their weak points are and then study even harder.
