There was once a little girl named Jerry that lived with her mother in a

small cottage in the forest. They were very poor, and could only afford to eat

bread. “Oh no!” cried Jerry’s mother one afternoon, “We ran out of bread, and it

is almost time for supper!” “Do we have any eggs left?” asked Jerry, “No, none;”

said her mother very worried.

“Don’t worry mother,” said Jerry suddenly, “I shall go and get some in the

market.” Then she ran off through the forest to the market with her basket.

Along the way, she was quite tired, so she rested upon some big rocks. It

gradually became late and Jerry decided to go and buy the bread, but suddenly a

wolf cried out behind her; “Please, please help me!” cried the wolf, “I have a

problem that nobody wants to help!” then he held out his paw to Jerry, there was

a thorn stuck to his paw. “Is this a trick?” asked Jerry, “Because wolves like

to eat people.”

“Oh no,” answered the wolf, “We do not eat people now, we only want to eat

some bread with mustard on top;” then he cried again. Jerry quickly knelt down

and removed the thorn from the wolf’s paw; “Oh thank you! Thank you!” shouted

the wolf joyfully, “I shall never forget your kindness!” then the wolf returned

to his home. Jerry walked to the market to buy healthy fresh bread, and then she

ran back home with a full basket of it.

On the way, she was still tired; so she stayed at the same place. As she

was about to go, some greedy wolves blocked her way. They had water in their

mouths and said, “Give us the bread!” said a wolf, “Where are the mustard?”

asked a second wolf, “Just give it to us!” shouted the third wolf. Jerry had no

choice, as she was about to give the fresh bread away to the wolf, the wolf that

she had saved before rushed out and said, “Leave her alone!” he growled, “That

girl saved me before, and so leave her alone!” he shouted again.

The other wolves had no choice but to obey, they walked away. Jerry thanked

her new friend the wolf, and the wolf said that he was supposed to do that in

return. In order to show Jerry’s respect for him, she gave him half the bread,

and returned home immediately to tell her mother about it.

They had some bread that evening, and Jerry’s mother including Jerry

herself both became good friends with the wolf. The wolf also had plenty of

bread, and moved his home close to Jerry.

The moral of this story was: if you help others and they will help you in

return, you help them again then friends you’ll become. It will be a peaceful

life if friendship is all around us.

I was just a little girl five years old. At that age, I did nothing. Every

morning I would get up early and start dressing up to the playground to play. I

have no friends, but I am curious that I could make some by sharing things. And

so I took some bread from the cupboard, took a bottle of milk and ran to the

playground.

There were many children playing there: Some were playing hide and seek,

some were playing tag; some were playing catch, some were playing toys; some

were building sand castle… I ran to the sand pile, there I met some girls

building sand castles. I asked, “May I sit down here, please?” “Suit yourself

coward!” shouted the girls rudely at me.

And so I sat down and began to play. After I had finished half my sand

castle, I heard the girls say, “I am so hungry, but I don’t have money to buy

thing,” and then it hit me; “I have some bread to share with them.” And so I

took some bread out of my bag, and said, “Here, have some bread.” When the girls

took the bread they ate it and said, “Well, well; looks like we have a hero. But

I am not going to be your friend!”

I had spread some jam on my bread and took another piece, put it on top and

started to eat. When I had finished the last bite, I put the rest in my bag, and

went away. I was very sad that sharing things didn’t help me make friends; I

shall have to think of another. After ten days I have thought of another way,

and so started out to the fields. There sat a girl shepherd sitting next a rock.

Now it all happened that this girl was the one that had helped me with

everything I have.

I quietly took out a piece of paper, and wrote some words: I haven’t seen

you for a long time, and so have decided to write you this. I want to thank you

for all you have done for me in the past few years, what do you want me to do

you for this month? After I had finished writing the last words, I put it inside

an envelope; licked the stamp, and stuck in on the right corner of the envelope;

at last closed the top.

After that, I ran to her mail box and put it inside, and then went home.

After a few days I have found a letter from the shepherd girl in my mailbox. I

carefully opened it, and in it was a piece of paper; on the paper were some

words, these are the words: I am very grateful for your kindness, but really I

have much work to do in the fields; If you come here and be a shepherd with me;

then that is the most best thing you could do for me. After reading this, I

thought to myself: I am alone so I guess I could be a shepherd. And so I told my

parents, and set off.

After a short time, a green parrot hopped out of the enchanted zoo, and

back towards the town. As he was hopping about, the animal control came and

shouted to the green parrot; the parrot understood, and started to fly up. The

van of the so called, “Animal controller”, followed until the gas ran out. He

had no choice but to give up.

Now of course, the green parrot escaped out of sight, and found some twigs

that were going to help him be comfortable during the whole time freedom. When

the pirate Captain Cook came back from his journey; he stopped a while to find

treasure on an island during his way pass. Once or twice a time he would turn

back and sail for land, and so he couldn’t make up his choice. At last he got

the treasure from his mates, and started for land immediately, they kept the

treasure in a box, which had a code of handsome Ship. None of his mates knew

that, so that whenever they wanted to steal some gold from the Captain, they

would have to enter the code.

Now let’s go back to the parrot; the parrot was actually having a pretty

good time, but his nest became a pretty kettle of fish. His eyesight was not too

bad either; nor his ears, except they were as small as an ant. When Captain.

Cook’s ship came closer to land the parrot was all ears to hear what he was

saying. “Mates, you go down and fetch as many gold as you can, while I stay

here, I had a long week of sailing this ship; and so I’m going to stay in my bed

and kick back.”

His mates were like servants and obeyed immediately, the parrot however;

heard his every word, and wanted to stay with the captain and live. He had a

plan, and then he flew down and tickled a mate’s toe. The mate laughed, and the

parrot stopped. When the mate paid attention to the parrot, the mate said, “How

are you doing?” the parrot answered, “Great; how are you doing?” “Not too bad,

thanks;” “Take it easy,” they soon became friends, and chatted all along, “So,

can you give me a home to live on the ship?” “Sure thing, piece of cake;” when

they got the parrot on the ship; the captain came out, and became friend with

the parrot also.

The parrot gave him advice, and he became wealthy and returned all the

gold, but kept the treasure he found himself on other islands; and when people

trouble the parrot, the captain with which will defeat those guys with his

mighty sword.

I do not like teamwork in most time. Because I think it is hard for the

whole team to hold the same view. It is a waste of time to argue with each other

then make a compromise. But recently I have really seen the great power of

teamwork.

Last week we had a play competition. Because of some reasons, we had not

decided the play two days before the competition. Our monitor called the actors

and actresses who had been decided together. Then they think about every plot

together. To my surprise, it seemed that everybody had his or her good idea.

They gave up their weekend to practice the play. Finally our team won good marks

and were given the opportunity to participate in the final competition.

Teamwork is really powerful. No matter learning in school or working in the

在偶然的一次机会，我在电视上看见了你们，你们个个衣衫褴搂，眼神迷茫，我格外难过，你们的教室结满了蜘蛛网，还总是漏水，一张张石头搭成的课桌凳子都是从自己家里拿来的。铅笔用得成了小拇指大小，橡皮用的成了小块，也不舍得扔掉，这一切都是我们无法想象的，我们真是身在福中不知福。

等到放假的时候，我一定把你接到我家做客，我一定带你去我们临汾最好的涝巨河公园游玩，那里有龙泉瀑布，有音乐喷泉，我还会带你去滨河游乐场，那里的过山车非常刺激好玩。有时间咱们一起去听讲座的课，老师讲得栩栩如生，不用再爬天梯，过大河去上学。

如果晚上天气好，我们去滨河公园看大片大片粉红色的荷花，景色美不胜收。

Recently I have had a discussion about the ways to learn English better

with Jim, a student from Britain. In his opinion, the best ways are reading

English newspapers and talking with friends. He also believes that sometimes

seeing English films isnt a bad way.

I quite agree with him. However, I think, we can make flashcards. In this

way , we can memorize a lot of English words. Besides, we can look for a pen pal

As the saying that an apple a day, keeps the doctor away, so apple is good

for our health. My mother always puts apple on the table, but I dont eat it a

lot. Now I realize the nutrition of apple, so I start to eat an apple every day.

It keeps me healthy. I can get enough nutrition, which is the best fruit.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Im Li Hua, a middle school student from China. I read the announcement of

the summer camp that you have posted on the Internet and I am interested in

it.

I know that you welcome students from different countries and Id like to

take part in it. Ive been learning English for 10 years, and I speak fluent

English. What is more, Ill be able to tell students from other countries about

China and learn about their countries as well. I hope I will be accepted as a

member of your summer camp.

你们好!

虽然我们拥有很好的学习生活的环境，但却没有好好利用自己所拥有的条件，浪费着宝贵的时间虚度着易逝的光阴。然而对于这样的生活，我们却全然不知。

那天我无意中在电视上看到一个关于你们的节目，当看到你们在微弱的灯光下看书，在风雨飘摇的教室学习时，我才发现我有多浪费自己的学习时间。你们那瘦弱的身躯在泥泞曲折的山路上艰难前行，但脚步却又那么坚毅。你们那无助的看着黑板的眼神，骨子里却又透着那么多的坚定。

你们那里的学生大都家境非常困难，吃不饱、穿不暖，但是你们非常想上学，渴望学到一些你们梦寐以求学到的知识。

在你们的学校里，是一间间破旧的房子，一张张破旧的桌子，还有同学们从家里带的破旧的板凳。没有电灯，没有书本，甚至没有黑板!这一切都是我们无法想象的。但你们在这么艰苦是条件下，还能坚持学习，取得优异的成绩，这些都是值得我们学习的。

通过这次的“手拉手”活动，让我们都能真正感受到社会就是一个大家庭，一方有难，八方支援。我们可以通过援助，让有困难的学生不再感到孤独，让他感受到温暖。也许我们捐助的东西微不足道。也许是一个书包，一支铅笔，一本图书，一枚硬币……但它代表了我们的情意。我相信，当你们收到我们的礼物时，一定体会到了大家庭的温暖，拥有了欢乐。
