White pollution persists

WEVE been hearing and talking about it for a fairly long time： curbing what has become known as “white" pollution. But still we are using the white polystyrene （PS） foam food containers and other disposable plastic products， which largely make up this form of littering.

Miandianwang， a well-known local fast-food chain， is still handing out takeout food in these PS foam containers， even though they should been phased out before December 31， 2000， under a Central Government decree. One of the waiters said in its outlet on Hongli Road on Monday that they are going to switch to environmentally friendly containers “some time in the future".

However， the Miandianwang outlet in Sams Club， which is affiliated with Wal-Mart， is offering take-out food in light brown containers which are biodegradable. Liang， a clerk with Sams Club， told Shenzhen Daily yesterday that the club required the Miandianwang outlet to do so in its contract.

According to Liang， all the departments in the club switched to biodegradable containers during the Spring Festival holiday.

Zhao Hua， with the energy division of the Shenzhen Municipal Economic Development Bureau， one of the five municipal government departments involved in the curbing of white pollution in the city， said on Monday that large companies and retailers like Wal-Mart and Vanguard have responded to the decree by switching to biodegradable containers. But she admitted that is just the tip of the iceberg in the seemingly endless war on white pollution in the city.

Zhaos bureau has met with four other relevant departments on several occasions. What they produced is not a feasible solution but an echo or rewording of the Central Government decree， according to Luo Wei from Shenzhen Municipal Legal Affairs Bureau， who is responsible for reviewing this “echo". The ”echo" has now been passed on to the municipal government which is expected to announce it formally in the near future. Zhao Hua admitted that cities like Shanghai and other coastal cities which are sensitive about their image as tourist destinations are doing a better job in this regard. “Shanghai is said to have produced a very detailed handbook on how to carry out the curbing work and Hainan has even banned disposable foam slippers in hotels，" Zhao said.

尽管世界发展更快、更好,地球上的资源得到越来越少。为了保护他们,必须得做点什么。

要节约用水,水是生命之源。没有水,就没有生命。所以这对我们来说是非常重要的。我们不仅应该保护饮用水和停止污染,但也充分利用它。

节约用电。它是至关重要的。我们无法想象没有它的生活将是什么样子。每个人都应该尽力节约用电。别忘了关掉灯或其他电动机器当我们完成工作。

拯救森林。他们是有用的。请停止切割下来,转而使用再生纸。让我们的世界一个住在绿色。

回收有用的垃圾。大量的垃圾可以回收罐、纸、瓶子、等等。

以这种方式我们可以节省资源。我相信我们可以让世界变得更美好。

电视里经常播放着湖州的迷人风光，古色古香的房屋,干净整洁的街道,风风火火的商店,事实是不是这样呢?

为了了解家乡环境，我对家乡的环境做了一下调查。调查的对象主要是工厂、河流、公共场所等。

一、空气污染

在我们的家乡，空气污染已十分严重。例如：工厂排放的烟尘废气，汽车、火车、轮船排放的烟尘废气，都含有许多对我们人体有害的物质，是空气的主要污染源。随着社会的进步，人们生活水平的不断提高，许多家庭中也有了各式的交通工具，如汽车、摩托车等，它们给我们的生活带来了方便，但是排出的废气却污染了我们周围的空气。

二、水污染

在我们家乡的小河，几乎全都受到了污染。家庭中的脏水，这些都会流进附近的小河，给我们的生活带来了影响。鱼类难以生存，其他生物的繁殖生长也受很大影响。比如奶奶家门前的小河吧!听爸爸说以前的小河，河水清澈见底，他们常去捉小鱼。而现在我来到了河附近，看到的却是另一番景象，河水的两边堆满了垃圾，甚至在河中也漂着一些白色垃圾。河水又黑又浊，哪里还有个小鱼的影子呢?而且河中还发出臭味。这哪里还是清澈见底的小河，简直是个“臭水沟”。

三、噪音污染。

家乡的噪音污染也十分的严重。噪音能影响人们的生活和工作，对听觉和身心健康都有损害，还会影响少年儿童智力发展，影响我们的思考和学习。噪音的主要来源是工厂、街道、建筑工地、公共场所等。在大街上，汽车、摩托车喇叭的声音，以上的三种污染，对我们的正常生活会有很大的影响，如果继续这样下去，还会威胁着我们的身体健康，以及造成其它方面的损失。

今天我在《盐城晚报》上看到乱扔废旧电池的危害可大了。但小明却不以为然，还说：“大家都扔呀，还没见有多大的危害呀！”其实一粒废电池的危害可大啦！不信，我讲给你们听一听，废旧电池的危害。

一粒纽扣大的电池扔在一片土地上，会污染一平方米的土地，让那片土地寸草不生，会变成一块不毛之地。一节 1 号电池如果放进一条小河里就会污染60万升水，这也许是一个人一生的饮水量。如果一个人喝了一小口这样的水就会生病，更严重的话可能窒息死亡。这是多么悲惨呀！同学们！我有一个好办法，那就是捡废旧电池的活动。

我们先约好几个好伙伴一起去拾一些废旧电池，谁找的废旧电池越多就有一枚劳动小章。开始行动！我们一人拿了一个大袋子去找，我先在附近找一找，不放过一点蛛丝马迹，这时我就在一个角落里找到了 6 节不同的废旧电池，这让我高兴万分，在这时环保局长闻讯赶来，看到我们像花猫一样的连都不约而同的笑了，夸我们是环保小卫士 ……

这次拾废旧电池给我们上了深深的一课。

我奶奶家门口有一条“垃圾河”，而且它并不像其它河那么宽敞、干净，下面就由我来给你们介绍一下以前这条河是怎样的和现在这条河又是怎样的吧，我们来做个对比。以前这条河可宽敞了。听爸爸说，在80年代的时候，他经常在河里游戏比赛，以前的河大概有20多米，能游过对面已经很历害了。到了90年代，人们霸占了河道，在河的两旁建房子，所以河面变的越来越小，现在只有5米左右。

以前这条河可干净了。河里原来有许多形态万千的鱼，鱼儿们有时把头伸出水面，有时在水里聊天，还有时在水里玩游戏，可爱极了，原本鱼儿们美好的家园，现在被人们把垃圾扔进河里还有被旁边工厂的污水排进了河里，人们这样做根本就没有想过是对还是错。

有一些娇小的鱼儿就死掉了，现在鱼儿看见人们一向河边走去就赶紧躲到水底去了，就更加不用说你去抓鱼了。这条河以前的水清澈见底，非常干净，有时候人们还会用这些水洗衣服呢!这条河虽然很长，但是如果你一直顺着这条河走的话你会看见满条河全是垃圾还会闻到一股臭味。从那开始你肯定很讨厌这条河的。

我看见这样的一幕不禁要批评人们：你们这样子做是不对的，你们盖房子可以在别的地方盖，可能你们认为这里环境好，才在这里盖的，竟然你们都说这里环境好，为什们还要在这里盖呢?尽管你们在这里盖就算了，为什么还要破坏鱼儿们的家园?为什么还要把垃圾向河里扔?为什么在河的前面一点就有垃圾桶了，难到你就宁愿破坏环境，也不宁愿向前走几步吗?

我们每个人都要从小做起，保护环境，让“垃圾河”还原以前那样美丽吧!

我们的环境污染我们的环境污染我们现在的生活比以前好得多，但环境跟以前简直就不能比。以前的空气清香并掺和着花草的芳香，河水清澈见底......

而现在呢?汽车排出的废气和工业废气相当多，河水臭气直出......我们大家为了过上好生活，都买汽车，但车主们有没有想过这样的量使用汽车的后果。有些地方之间的距离非常近，但车主们不想跑，就直接开汽车。假如一辆汽车一天排放一千克废气，那么中国每天大约有几千万辆汽车在行驶，那么一天就要排放几千万千克的废气。这个数目仅显示一天一千克的废气排放量和仅计算中国的废气排放情况。工厂的污染更严重，水和空气都要被污染。大量的废水排入大海和河流之中，以致大量的鱼虾、水中植物死亡和大量的水资源被污染......

我们地球上的资源也在一天一天的减少。大量可回收的品中只有3%是被回收并再生的。许多白色垃圾造成了白色污染。我心中的家园是和以前差不多的，可是这是很难挽回的。为了我么大家共同生活了几千万年的蓝色星球?——地球的美好未来而努力吧!
