在我们家，腊月二十就开始准备过年了。

腊月二十几，我们家就开始买鱼、买肉了。一般把鸡鸭买回来杀掉，然后把鸡肉、鸭肉留着过年再吃。

过年前五、六天，我们家就开始准备年货了，年货其实也不多，我们家就买一些糖呀，干桂圆呀，柿饼呀，什么的，但是一买就一大箱。

过年前两、三天，我们家要搓圆子，从早到晚都在搓，搓了许多个。可是，搓了这么多圆子，把家里气味全部变成了圆子味，正好门窗又没打开，没有新鲜空气，只有一股圆子味，真想吐。

我的家乡在河南省周口市的西华县。我觉得我的家乡什么都美，绿化环境随处可见。并且，贾鲁河穿过郑州，流经西华，河边的风景真是红的像火，绿的像宝石，粉的像霞。

我们西华可有一个无人不知的特产胡辣汤。胡辣汤起源于西华县的逍遥镇，每天早上，郑州的大街小巷处处可见胡辣汤的身影，那麻辣鲜香的味道让人赞不绝口、回味无穷，成为大家早餐桌上的一道美味佳肴。听说，《胡辣汤》还拍成电影了呢，大家有机会一定要到电影院去看一看。

西华历史悠久。女娲补天的故事大家都听说过吧？人类的母亲女娲的故乡就在西华。传说，女娲在西华炼出了七彩石补天，现在西华还有女娲城遗址和女娲广场呢！因此，西华以前有娲城的名字。

虽然西华是县城，没有城市里那么好，但是，我非常喜欢那里的乡土气息。那里有弯弯曲曲的小河，处处可见小泥鳅游来游去的踪影；那里有金黄的麦穗儿，散发出泥土的芳香；那里有热情似火的人们，他们很淳朴、很勤劳、很善良。

People always say that we are lacking of the eyes of realizing the beauty in life. I can’t agree with it anymore. Last week, I woke up very early in the morning, so I decided to take a walk. The street was very quiet and there were many old people dancing in the square. Without many cars, I realized the city looked so clean and beautiful. My Home Town

My home town is a beautiful place. It stands beside a wide river and is rich in fish and rice.

But in the old days it was a poor and backward little town. Many people had no work. They lived a hard life.

In 1949 my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken place there. The streets have been widened. Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is greatly improved.

I love my hometown. All the more I love its people. They are working hard so as to make it still richer and more beautiful.
