Too many cars have created a lot of serious problems in our world. Besides congestion， accidents and fast fuel consumption， cars are responsible for a good part of air pollution in big cities. All the time， they are pumping huge amounts of waste gases into the atmosphere. These gases are very harmful， causing disease and even death.

One possible solution is to design and develop clean cars and clean fuels. In Shanghai， some of the public buses begin to run on natural gas， which does not give off as much carbon dioxide as the petrol. But it may take decades for the new models of clean cars completely replace the traditional ones. Another solution is to develop modern public transportation systems and restrict the use of private cars. If the price of petrol rises constantly and the public vehicles are efficient and convenient enough， most people will not buy private cars. 一：用介词短语替代从句，例：

修改后：At the second traffic light turn left.

二：删除诸如"who is”或"that is"之类的关系代词，变从句为短语，例：

句：The novel, which is written in three parts, told a story that took place in the Middle Ages.

修改后：The three-part novel told a story set in the Middle Ages.

注：把句中的"three parts"改用形容词来表达，节省了四个不必要的单词"which is written in"。我们经常可以将关系代词如"that"去掉，这只会引起最少的变动。

三：剔除你不需要的单词，例：

写完这样的句子后，你自己再读一遍，挑出单词"joint"和"telephone"，注意删去不必要的词。

英语写作注意两点

一、先审题，弄清写作要求审题是写好作文的前提，也是书面表达的基础。如果写偏了题，语言表达再好也很难得高分。审题时要注意两个方面：

1.认真地看两遍题目，包括提示，全面了解写作要求。

2.理清思路，确定体裁、框架结构和内容。

He is outgoing and helpful, his friends and classmates like playing with him. Basketball is his favorite. He always makes new friends while he plays basketball. He cares much about me. Although he goes to another city for college, he calls me frequently and asks my life and study and tells me to care more about our parents. When he gets holidays, he often comes home to see us, and that makes my parents happy. Every time he comes back, my mother cooks delicious dishes for him. My brother is a good guy and I am sure he will have a bright future after graduation.
