To solve this intractable problem, every citizen needs to participate in producing less garbage. We all know it is becoming more and more important to protect our environment well.We should stop cutting down trees ,dropping litter everywhere and throwing waste before it is processed. It has caused lots of problems such as much rich land becomes desert;Rivers become dirty ;The air is becoming worse and worse ;The temperature is becoming hotter and hotter.So we must do something to change the situation.Wed better walk or ride bikes to work or go to school instead of driving a car,We mustnt use plastic bags.Our government must take some measures to prevent factories producing smoking etc.

Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to

improve his way of life。 With the tools of technology he has altered many

physical features of the earth。 He has transformed woodlands and prairies into

farms and made lakes and reserviors out of rivers for irrigation purposes or

hydroelectric power。 Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining

marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways。

However， mans changes to the physical environment have not always had

beneficial results。 Today， pollution of the air and water is an increasing

danger to the health of the planet。 Each day thousands of tons of gases e out of

the exhausts of motor vehicles。 Smoke from factories pollutes the air of

industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside。 The pollution

of water is equally harmful。 The whole ecological balance of the sea is being

changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless。

Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before。 As we know，

massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even

poses a great threat to mans existence。 Indifference to these problems will

mean mitting suicide。 Therefore， effective measures should be taken and laws

passed to conserve environment。 Otherwise，man is certain to suffer from the

serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living

surroundings。

当今世界，工业相当发达，生活水平也是一天比一天高了，可是有很多人还是怨声载道，因为现在的环境太差，空气已经被污染得不成样子了。

我们家附近有许多的化工厂，其中有一家化工厂光明正大的排放污气。成天成天地在放气，而且是乌黑乌黑的气体，人一到那家工厂附近便会咳嗽，真是太呛了。我一路过就说：“要是我，早八百年就把这家厂给关了。”别人也是这样想的吧。可是从来都没有听说过有人要来治理这一家污染空气的工厂。

且先不说大的，小的污染也无处不在。其中为数最多的就是能使人致癌的抽香烟了。

我身边这样的人很多，但主要是一些年长的人，我最熟悉的场所并且有许多人吸烟的莫过于大型的宴席了。

有一天爸爸有一个朋友的女儿过一周岁生日时，我们一起去赴宴，那有许多的人，我坐在一个老爷爷边上，那个老爷爷一直在抽烟，我被熏得呛出了眼泪，可又不敢出声。吸烟不仅对自己有伤害，“二手烟”对他人的伤害更大哦。

保护环境，人人有责。让我们赶快行动起来吧。

“小脚不乱跑，小草微微笑！”每当我看到校园花圃里挂着的美丽的宣传板子，就想起上学期我做的一件快乐的事情。

记得上学期，老师让我们制作一个美化环境的标语。那天中午，我回到家里，顾不上吃饭马上就请妈妈帮我的忙。妈妈和我一起跑到电脑前面，打开电脑后，我和妈妈就开始忙碌地在网上搜索。我紧张而兴奋地挑选起我喜欢的宣传标语。选了好久好久，我终于选中了一个黄橙颜色搭配的、蘑菇型的，上面写着“小脚不乱跑，小草微微笑”的宣传标语。可费了很大功夫，就是打印不出来，把我急坏了。爸爸连忙过来帮忙，可也是无济于事。最后，妈妈终于有点子了。她神秘地告诉我：“你负责挑选，我负责完成。”第二天起床，宣传标语果然漂漂亮亮地出现在了我的面前，我高兴极了。吃完早饭，我迫不及待地来到了学校，心想：标语啊标语，你一定要帮我好好提醒同学们，让他们不随便破坏小草，让小草天天开心微笑。

终于，我的标语受到了老师的表扬，挂在了校园的花圃里。每当看到它，我心里就暗暗给自己加油：一定要好好读书，长大了为保护环境做更多的事情。

在一个宁静的夜晚，我渐渐地入睡了。忽然，一股无比巨大的力量把我卷到了一个神奇古怪的地方。

当我醒来时，发现有一个人站在我旁边。他说：“我是月球人派来的使者，月球之王听说你是环保小卫士，所以叫我跟你说几句话。”“什么话？”我迫不及待地问。“说来话长，由于你们地球人太贪婪，太自私，发明了汽车、飞机。你可知道，飞机和汽车虽然方便，但它们排出的尾气却把我们月球的树林给弄死了。”他不满地说。“这怎么可能?”我问道。他说：“因为阳光被你们的飞机、汽车所排出的尾气给遮住了。月球上的树木没了阳光，就会死亡。我们那里的树就是这样死的。”

“哦”，我说，“但是我们现在都使用太阳能了呀？”“那是很久以前的事了。现在我们月球的危机就是水被污染了。由于你们地球的工厂所排出的废气把我们月球的水给污染了，我们月球人喝了污染过的水就会生病、死亡。再加上没有阳光，所以月球人的生命已经危在旦夕了。然后，你们地球人的好日子也不多了。请你救救我们吧，同时也在就你们自己呀！”他滔滔不绝地诉说着。我感到无地自容，说：“对不起，对这些贪婪自私的人类，我无能为力。”他遗憾地走了。

同学们，地球是我家，环保靠大家。让我们共同行动来保护环境吧！

Halloween

Halloween is an autumn holiday that Americans celebrate every year. It means "holy evening," and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Saints Day. However, it is not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly.

Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern".

The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say,"Trick or treat! Money or eat!" The grown-ups put treat-money or candy in their bags.

Not only children, but most grown-ups also love Halloween and Halloween parties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghost as their imaginations will lead them. This bring them the satisfaction of being young.

万圣节前夕

万圣节前夕是美国人年年都会庆祝的秋季节日。它的意思是“神圣的夜晚”，在每年的10月31日，也就是万圣节前夜。但实际上这不是一个真正的宗教节日，而主要是孩子们的节日。

每年秋天蔬菜成熟可以食用的时候，孩子们就会挑出大个儿的橙色南瓜。然后在南瓜上刻上一张脸，把一根点燃的蜡烛放在里面。看起来就好像有人在向南瓜外面张望。这些灯就叫做“iack-o-lantems”，意思也就是“杰克的灯”。

每年万圣节前夕孩子们还戴上奇怪的面具，穿上吓人的服装。有些孩子把脸刷成怪物。然后他们拿着盒子或袋子挨家挨户串门。每来到一个新房子他们就说：“不款待就捣乱!给钱还是吃的!”大人们就会把用来招待的钱或糖放在他们的袋子里了。

不仅孩子，许多成年人也喜欢万圣节前夕和万圣节前夕晚会。因为这一天他们可以根据自己的想象把自己装扮成名流或幽灵。这会带给他们年轻的快感。
