Gradually, we will consider wealth and fame as the most important things in our lives instead of the care of our parents, or our ‘Friends-time’. Besides, this kind of thought might have bad effects on our work, since we only care about how much money we earn or how to get as many glories as we can, we may tend to forget the original significance of doing the job and can’t concentrate our minds on doing the job well. Thus our work efficiency will be reduced and it is unlikely that we can make a great development in our own career. What’s worse, once we fail to get or lose all those glories or wealth, we may feel rather depressed, empty and even sink into

a desperate situation.

However, if we change our train of thought and attach more importance to the sense of happiness and fulfillment by accomplishing some simple things, our life will become more wonderful. We won’t get tired of our work and we will be courageous enough to overcome all the

obstacle on our road and enjoy the abundant happiness that the job brings to us. Every workday is like a journey full of surprise and delight. Besides, without the burden of wealth or fame, we can immerge ourselves into the job and there is a good chance that we can achieve a lot. In this case, although we don’t aim for wealth and fame, wealth and fame will follow naturally. If not, we will not feel discouraged, as we firmly believe that the happiness and fulfillment during the journey is the best reward for our work.

Van Gogh sold only one painting during his life, but this didn’t stop him from completing over 800 paintings because he never aims to make money or get fame when he creates new works. As for van Gogh, he values the process of pursuing instead of the results. It’s the pleasure and fulfillment in the process of creating gives him abundant motivation. If Van Gogh had always been fascinated in fame and wealth, he would not have had such wonderful works and the world would never have had such a genius of art.

As a senior high student who are preparing for the college entrance examination, we can’t say that the scores is not important. But I still strongly recommend that we should cherish the process of our learning and enjoy the perpetual and interior happiness it brings to us. As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth. This is a true story.

65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.

In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth.

He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm welcome.

When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.

Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.

故事的结局想必大家也清楚，一个从城外来的男子在众人的讥笑中搬移了柱子，并得到了奖赏，从此秦国的诚信在诸候中声名远扬，秦国也从此走上了变法之路，成为称霸一方的诸候。

是什么，让如此小的一件事成为秦国崛起的开端进而拉开了争霸的序幕呢?是诚信，一个国家没有诚信，它便不能取得发展，不能在这个世界上生存，一个国家苦没有诚信，它便不能屹立在世界民族之林，故人言：诚信是立国之本，是一个国家的脊梁!

斯人已逝，风骨犹存：诚信是立国之本。

钱学森在年轻的时候，故事已成美谈，它将作为中民族精神的一代一代的传承下去。

诚信是立身之本，若没有诚信，谁愿与之为友，与之为邻呢?诚信是人存活的底线，没有了诚信人生怎么是“人生”?

人生在世，以诚信为本，可结天下之友：以诚信为本，可明之得失!我们都该以诚信为本，在今后的道路中，扬帆起航。

4月16日上午，CCTV“希望之星”英语风采大赛湘潭赛区复赛在我们东方红学校举行。

我去的时候比赛已经开始了，只见向思璐站在上面紧张地表演着，带动着我也紧张了起来。我一看序号，呀！马上就到我了，于是我赶到座位上，其他同学都全神贯注地看着表演者，我也自作镇定的等待着。

啊，马上就到我了，我再也掩饰不住那紧张的情绪，心在不停“咚咚，咚咚”地跳着。轮到我上场了，我怀着激动而忐忑不安的心情走上了讲台。我首先敬了个礼，做了自我介绍，然后开始有声有色的表演我的节目，英语小故事《AGOODBOY》。我平复一下自己的情绪，然后流利地讲着我的故事，边讲还边做动作，仿佛进入了天真的情境。评委老师专注地听着我的故事，不时用笔记一下什么，我看到一位评委老师的眼睛里露出了一点笑意，我如释重负。我的表演结束了，回答完老师的问题后，敬了个礼，便退场了。

比赛结束后，在回家的路上妈妈接到电话：“您的孩子成功突围，晋级决赛了。”我知道后，高兴地跳了起来，此时此刻，我想起了之前努力的情形：到老师家上完辅导课后，回家一遍又一遍的练习，经常练到晚上9点多……这些都是值得的。我现在最要感谢的是爸爸、妈妈还有那位辅导老师。

正所谓：功夫不负有心人。我从这次比赛中明白了一个道理：只要有辛苦的付出，就会有更好地回报，我要继续认真准备，争取在决赛中取得好的成绩。

When it comes to honesty, quite a lot of people believe it is essential to

a person’s character and success.

They base their idea on the following reasons: on one hand, successful

business owes much to mutual trust; on another hand, great people in history

such as Abraham Lincoln andGeorge Washington set us good examples of being

honest, they are great because they are honest.

Their reasons run as following: to begin with, cheating on exams is

becoming more and more popular; in addition, some singers and movie stars cheat

on taxes; last but not the least, if you are not careful enough, you’ll buy some

defective goods and fake products.

It is high time we emphasized and encouraged honesty. We can take effective

measures to restore it.

For example, kids should be taught to tell truth, strict rules and

regulations should be carried out to stop cheatings on exams and taxes, etc.
