我们确实有很多事情要做，最重要的是设法减少污染物的排放量。

全世界有4亿多辆汽车，每年大约要排18.3亿吨二氧化碳。为减少汽车的温室气体排放量，除了限制汽车的数量，节约燃料消耗、安装净化装置外，还要试用甲醇、乙醇等比较干净的燃料，发展公共交通工具和电动汽车。

最后，开发利用干净清洁的新能源是减轻大气污染的最根本的出路。如核能、太阳能、风能、生物质能、地热等能源干净清洁，储量丰富，大有发展前途。

臭氧层的破坏是一个全球性问题。联合国环境会议决定，1995年底将逐步停止生产破坏臭氧层的“罪魁祸首”含氯氟烃物质。但是氯氟烃的寿命是50—— 100年，已经损耗放到大气中的1500万吨氯氟烃，至今只是一小部分对臭氧层发生了破坏作用，其余大部分还在行动，臭氧层仍然会继续遭到破坏，并到下一个世纪的头10年达到高峰。至于要完全恢复到正常自然水平，那起码需要一个世纪的时间！
