After a long cold winter when I have rarely been out on my bike, the weather has finally turned warmer and even sunny occasionally. A long coast down to Jiangtan and straight on to Mount End saw us climbing up to Zhongshan Park. The climb got stiffer but still Tom kept on riding. Gritting my teeth I followed on and crested the hill, Then the usual Essex switchback with an enforced short walk for both of us part way along saw us at Tawny common. Round the common we went, to the Mole Trap, an erstwhile rough old country pub now tarted up for the motorists. I don’t go in there any more, so we sat on the adjacent public seat for a while and a short natter.

Time enough to break away, Tom to his lunch appointment, me for home by way of theYellow Crane Tower and Changjiang Bridge. See you in a while, crocodile! I arrived home about 2 o’clock. Just in time for my own Sunday lunch .

读书让我明白很多前所未有的知识，也让我体会到一种莫名的感觉，他让我明白什么是虚怀若谷，什么事诚信谦和，让我明白人与人之间还有一种高境界。总而言之，三言两语说不清读书的好，道不明读书的乐。

现在，我们已经进入了信息时代，读书还象以前那么重要吗?

可能很多同学都会对这个问题感到迷惘，我的观点是，课外阅读的重要性是毋庸置疑的。

互联网是我们获取信息的一个重要手段，但是，互联网代替不了读书。

读书可以充实我们的思想，可以丰富我们的情感，可以教给我们本领，可以纠正我们的过失，在书籍中，你可以真切地感受到生活原本是如此地美好!

也许有人会说，现实社会中，有许多的大老板，大富翁都不读书，不是照样发大财、赚大钱，那么，我们读书又有什么意义呢?

此话差矣，的的确确，现实社会中，有许多的大老板、大富翁不读书，发了大财，赚了大钱，但是，我们也应该反思一下，在我国的众多私人企业中，有多少能够与国外的百年老店如可口可乐、埃克森石油、杜邦化工、IBM、通用电气等世界著名的大公司、大企业相提并论呢?相反，在我国短命、失败的私人企业多的不可胜数，我们的大老板、大富翁，他们所缺乏的是什么呢?

据说，世界首富，比尔·盖茨，每天都要抽出一小时来读书，世界首富都如此重视读书，更何况我们这些离世界首富相差很远、很远的人呢，我们有什么理由轻视读书呢?

但是，现实中，确实有一些读书人，死读书，不解决实际问题，成了书呆子，这样的读书，不是我们所要提倡的。我认为，与其说不解决任何实际问题，一味地死读书，还不如不读书的好。
