今年除夕，叔叔、伯伯、阿姨全家到我家一起吃年夜饭，所以我和爸爸的任务就是把家整理干净，贴福字和春联，爸爸说这叫“除旧布新”。

吃完了年夜饭，表姐和堂妹洗涮餐具，其他人围坐在客厅，收看春晚电视节目。大人们点击手机屏幕抢红包、我和表哥、堂弟、迫不及待地吉言拜年拿红包，这是我家今年除夕的亮点!

除夕夜，没有了鞭炮声，但话语声、碰杯声、欢笑声……组成了美妙的交响乐，在除夕的夜空中荡漾着!

看着人家收了许许多多的红包，看着人家吃得肚子饱饱，我不禁地羡慕别人，不禁地唉声叹气，回想起自己的春节，我情不自禁地悲喜交加。

在2月16日这天，我们一家决定了明天去香港买东西，心急如焚地准备好了行李，早早地就睡了。第二天，太阳还没露出脸来，我们一家人睁开眼睛，各自做各的事情，迫不及待地来到车站，连早餐都顾不上吃就出发了，一路上，我的肚子“咕噜咕噜”地响，好像是在说：“快点给我吃东西吃，不然我会饿死的。”我们忍着饿，来到了香港的关口，看到了人山人海，我吃了一惊，说道：“这么多人哪！”我差点哭出了眼泪，对妈妈斥道：“你看，这么多人，我们何时才能吃饭啊？”“你不要再说了，现在又不是你一个人挨饿。”我垂头丧气，又无能为力，直到中午，我才吃饱了肚子。

在香港里，我跟香港的亲戚们一同去维港观看烟花，五颜六色的烟花在群星璀璨的天空中翩翩起舞，祝贺人们在新的一年里学业进步，洋洋得意。

在来香港的第三天，我们去了海洋公园游玩，在那里，吃了许多的东西，最刺激的还是垂直过山车。

虽然这春节里没有收到许多的左包，但我却玩得很开心，希望明天的春节快快来到。

过端午节，一定少不了粽子!今天，姐姐就在教我包粽子呢!你瞧。

做粽子一定要有准备的。原来，姐姐已准备好浸泡了3个小时的糯米，同时也买好了粽叶，这样准备就让我大吃一惊了。

我把米放在叶子里，可米全撒在了桌上，我生气极了。姐姐对我说：“你要把叶子做成一个三角形的样子，然后再把米放进去啊!”

于是，我按照姐姐说的步骤作了一遍，在米上按了按，咦?旁边那个盘子中间放的是什么?原来是肉馅哦!我在糯米中间挖了一个小洞洞，把肉馅弄成圆状，塞入糯米中，让它也加入糯米的行列中。可怎么封好呢?我看了眼姐姐，就明白了一切。

我把翘起来的一片叶子按下来，并用绳子用力的扎紧。成功啦!我按照前面的方法，包了好多个。现在就要下锅了，先是把水烧开，然后把粽子放下去。

过了一会儿，粽子煮好了。大家四人坐在桌子旁，吃起了粽子。

我把绳子解开，正想把叶子摘掉，可我一碰，就被烫着了。姐姐看了，哈哈的笑了起来。我吹着吹着，把让热气吹走了。我再次小心翼翼的将叶子掀开，吃起了自己亲手做的香喷喷的粽子来——白白胖胖的糯米中间，包着一团鲜汁可口的肉馅，放入口中，不油不腻，又有嚼劲，感觉太好了!

端午节就这么过去了，嘴里吃着自己亲手包的粽子，心里想着我国唐代诗人杜甫写的诗：宫衣亦有名，端午被恩荣。细葛含风软，香罗叠雪轻。自天题处湿，当暑着来清。意内称长短，终身荷圣情。

这真是一个快乐的端午节!

As we all know, pollution is harmful to living beings. There are many

different types of pollutions in this world. For instance, water pollution, air

pollution, noise pollution and so on. Water pollution cause many kinds of

disease that have negative effects on human beings, sometimes the diseases will

take people’s life away. Dirty air will increase the rate of getting lung

cancer. While the noise pollution will cause insomnia. People’s health condition

will be damaged.

In my humble opinion, people should take measures to control the pollution.

Recently, not only the government, but also individual has taken part in the

action of protecting the environment. This is a good sign. Rivers are being

cleaned, air is purified, and the people come to realize that the importance of

protecting the environment.

However, this is not enough, the problems are still exist. Not all of them

have been solved. Some factories are still pouring dirty water into the rivers

or give off the toxic gas into the sky. We should know that protecting the

environment needs everybody’s effort.

北京的春节是一个隆重而欢快的节日。今年放寒假，我和父亲母亲去北京过春节。

照北京的规矩，春节差不多在腊月的初旬就开始了。这是一年里最寒冷的时候。还要泡蒜，买饺子，买鞭炮。腊月二十三过小年，天一黑，炮竹声就响起来，有一股过年的味道。这一天，街上的人很多，有的看演出，有的买东西。

过了二十三，大家更忙。必须大扫除一次，还要把肉，鸡，鱼和青菜什么的都预备充足——店铺多数正月初一到初五关门，到正月初六才开张。

除夕真热闹。家家赶做年菜，到处是香喷喷的香味。男女老少都穿起新衣，门外贴上了红红的对联，除夕夜家家灯火通宵，不许间断，鞭炮声响个不停。

正月初一早上，有一大堆昨天放过的小鞭炮。

男人们午前去亲戚家拜年，女人们在家中接待客人。还买点礼物送送，多数铺户在正月初六开张，不过并不很忙，还可以逛庙会，逛天桥和看演出。

在天坛公园，还有民间艺人在模仿皇帝和大臣，在进行祭天仪式，有的拿着刀，有的拿着剑，很英俊。从初一到初九，圆明园里面每天举行皇家庙会，有抬轿子的，有猜谜语的，还有斗鸡和各种小吃，等等一些内容丰富多彩的节目。

这就是北京过春节的习俗。

盼啊！盼啊，眼看春节就快到了，想到这，我不由得笑了起来，在春节之前，人们个个喜气洋洋，个个精神饱满。逛街的人络绎不绝，有的在买年画，有的在买年货，有的坐着火箱围着火炉看电视，还有的人在打麻将打扑克，等等不一而足。

反正，街上五彩缤纷，各种各样的人都有，各种各样的货物都齐全，琳琅满目，人们恐怕想买什么都难选择！春节前，家家户户都灯火通明，家家都把房子打扮得别具一格，各有各的个性。他们把买来的年货放得满地都地。买来的年画怎么贴法，那就各有自己的风格和喜好了。有的正着贴，有的倒着贴，还有的歪着贴，各有千秋。人们把买来的菜全部都弄好了，只等春节一到，就可一饱口福了。家家备有鞭炮，人们穿上新衣服，准备迎新年，在春节之前，人们一出门，如果遇上了好朋友，总是口中不忘说一句：“上街啊！”人们杀猪宰羊，忙碌地准备着春节大吃大喝一番。

春节到了，小朋友们便早早起床，来到爸爸妈妈的房间，开始了传统的拜年仪式了。小朋友们对父母说着一些吉祥话儿，爸妈就拿出压岁钱，让小孩子们高高兴兴。大家都希望今年能够吉祥如意，招财进宝。

一些亲朋好友欢聚一堂，品尝着美酒佳肴，谈着一些开心的话儿。而最高兴的则是我们，可以大把大把地攒取压岁钱，然后就欢天喜地跑到街上去买非常多好玩的东西，例如小汽车、四驱车、玩具枪、足球等，而我们只要嘴巴甜一点，多说些祝福的话儿，那可就大赚一笔了！人们一直玩到深夜，嘴里啃着美味水果，手里燃放鞭炮烟花……大人小孩们载歌载舞，忘情地玩个痛快！

向上一年说再见，向新的一年问好。每过春节之前，我都会细细地回忆着上一年的美好时光。

每到春节，每家每户都放鞭炮、包饺子、贴对联。是一家人最幸福最开心的时候。在这里小孩会收到许多压岁钱，大人们可以在一块儿谈谈国家大事，说说家常小事，爷爷奶奶们可以打打纸牌，也可以打打麻将。这是多么快乐的事情啊！

大人们聊天吃点心，我们玩得起劲。先玩电脑，在游戏中打得天昏地暗，不亦乐乎。紧接着又玩木制拼插积木，表弟是属猴的，他就拿出一个小猴子来给我拼。我在图纸上找相同的编号，找得眼花缭乱，表弟也和我一起找。我们正玩得兴起时，大人们来催促我们去饭店吃中饭了。其实我们俩对吃饭一点兴趣都没有，只想接着玩。

到了饭店，我们走进一个又宽敞又豪华的包厢，看见一张巨大的美丽的圆桌，中间还摆放着姹紫嫣红的鲜花，还有桌上精美的菜肴。但这一切并不吸引我们，我们只是草草地吃了一些，就去一旁拼装敢达模型了。

敢达模型是现在最流行的，而且拼装也非常复杂，这个只有三百多片，据说还有一千多片的，要拼上十几个小时呢!我和表弟先从头部开始一点一点往下拼。一个小时后，模型的头，胸加上一只手才完成了，我这才发现，这个比我以前拼过的所有木制拼插积木都要难。直到大家吃完饭走了，我还没完工，唉。

我和表弟依依不舍地分手了，我真想天天与他玩，但只能期待下一次的聚会了。

英语念起来干枯无聊，我偶尔往前面望去，有一排同学没事可做，竟然搞起敢死队的工作——在英语老师的眼皮子底下看漫画书，晕。更为巧合的是――竟然都是坐在一排的人！怀疑是不是串通好了的呢。

敢死队员1号：小心翼翼型

这位队员一边看着书，一边虎视耽耽地望着老师。瞧，他刚翻一页，就抬头看看老师，接着又翻一页，然后有抬头望望老师，这样重复循环，真不知道他把内容看进去没有。看见老师的目光没有扫向他，他赶紧抓住机会连翻几页，然后突然抬头，盯着老师。

敢死队员2号：动作怪怪型

这位队员可有点怪了，看着书，一会儿掏掏鼻子，一会儿打打哈欠，一会儿摸摸耳朵，一副惟恐天下不乱的样子，好像不让老师发现他的举动就不甘心似的，真是个怪人。

敢死队员3、4号：谈天说地型

这两位同学有些不把老师放在眼里了，边看书边聊天。我隐隐约约听见他们说冒险岛OL，说漫画内容，说小说，说娱乐咨询，就连老师和同学的目光扫向他们，也无济于事。

敢死队员5号：边学边看型

这位同学好像有些明白学习的重要性，看了几分钟的书，马上立起来听老师的讲课。课上一半时，老师为了扫查班上的敢死队，把同学们一个叫起一个问问题。这下可让这群敢死队员们开始惶恐不安了，他们连书都顾不着看呢。而这位队员呢，看一会儿就学学，这一招算是对他的MISS了。

敢死队员6号：理直气壮型

这位同学可是班上的霸王级分子了（注：别乱想，不是我啊），他可是一人之下，几十人之上，谁敢对他不敬，他的落雷马上就落在你头上了，（注：我已经欠了他3顿打了，要不是我能帮他弄电脑作业，我早就魂飞天了）因此每人敢告发他。不知是她的好运还是老师放水，他这样看了一堂课，竟然都没半点被批评，真太不公平了！！

谁知道，老师从天而降，为了抓住敢死分子，居然来个背后突袭，到所有座位后边地毯式搜索。5名敢死队员唰地一声，在同一时间内放下书，装起乖乖。只有敢死队员6号稳如泰山，而老师的目光明明瞄准了他，可老师却好像在放水一样，竟纵容他在自己眼皮子底下活动，真气死人了！而其他5位的敢死队员便无机可乘，只好乖乖停课，唯独6号占了便宜。

自家团完年，该去别人家团年哪！我们要去大奶奶家团年。

大奶奶还真是好客，一把年纪，还亲自出来开门。爷爷急忙上前问好，说罢，又把手中的牛奶、饼干全部递给大奶奶。大奶奶一见，说：“一家人，送什么东西，真的是！上面有视，快去看吧。”顿顿又说：“我就不上去”。话虽这样说，行动却不一样。你猜怎样？大奶奶跟在我们后面，我们却浑然不知。突然、大奶奶说句：“在四楼。”爷爷一见，连忙说：“你就不要跟上来。”大奶奶点点头：“哪我下去。”我们目送大奶奶下去后才敢去看电视。

欢乐的一幕免不吃饭的时侯发生。

今天吃的是团年饭，大家有说有笑。奶奶说：“朱可婧天天盼过年，这下盼到。”伯妈说：“我家朱悦也是。”——过年，想说也说不完。

要走啦！大奶奶恋恋不舍的把我们送上车。哎、好好客。

最搞笑的当然在春晚看电视的时候发生。每当有我不喜欢看的节目时，我就去洗澡。洗澡完毕，我就爬到床上脱衣服。各位，不要以为我是来睡觉的，还没到点呢，我用被把自己裹个棕子，然后跑去看电视。

朋友、你一定很奇怪！我为什么要裹着被子去看电视呢？哈！哪是因为裹着被子很暖和，朋友，你也可以试一下哦！

农历五月初五就是端午节了，家家户户都要包粽子，还有有趣的划龙舟比赛呢!奶奶在家已经煮好了香喷喷的粽子，打开锅盖满屋都飘着粽子的清香，让我闻得口水直流个不停。我迫不及待地剥开粽子叶津津有味的吃了起来，真是回味无穷呀!

The Dragon Boat Festival is on the fifth day of may in the lunar calendar.

Every family needs to make zongzi. There are also interesting dragon boat races!

Grandma has cooked delicious zongzi at home. When she opened the pot cover, the

fragrance of zongzi was floating all over the house, making my mouth water

continuously. I cant wait to peel off the zongzi leaf and eat it with relish.

Its really memorable!

吃完粽子后，爸爸带我去看划龙舟比赛，这里人山人海，车水马龙的可热闹了!比赛开始了，各个队伍都蓄势待发，随着一阵枪声一条条龙舟飞快地划过水面，犹如一支支箭向前飞去。在场的观众们兴奋喊道着加油加油，在为参赛者加油鼓励，参赛者们听了心里充满了信心使劲地划桨，水花到处飞溅。各条龙舟你追我赶的，最后，落后的一号终于追上了遥遥领先的二号第一个冲过了终点，观众们不禁欢呼起来，到处都是一片欢乐的海洋。啊!这真是我最难忘的一天了。

After eating zongzi, my father took me to watch the dragon boat race. There

are lots of people here, and the traffic is very busy! The race started, and

every team is ready to go. With a burst of gunfire, each dragon boat flies

across the water like an arrow. The audience cheered and shouted, cheering and

encouraging for the contestants. The contestants listened with confidence and

strove hard to paddle, and the water splashed everywhere. Each dragon boat

chased after each other. At last, the laggard No. 1 finally caught up with the

far ahead No. 2. The audience couldnt help cheering. There was a sea of joy

everywhere. Ah! This is the most unforgettable day for me.

还有许许多多的传统节日也是和端午节一样有趣的，我们要一起保护中国的传统节日。

There are also many traditional festivals as interesting as Dragon Boat

Festival. We should protect Chinese traditional festivals together.

同学们，今年过年你们一定都得到压岁钱了吧！我和你们一样，但今年和往年的形式不同，你们想知道我是怎么得到的吗？那就请跟时间倒流器倒流回除夕晚上！

好，我们到了除夕晚上，这会我可高兴了，要知道口袋里即将装上爸爸妈妈给我的压岁钱。激动、盼望，好不容易吃过年夜饭，时间也快到十二点了，不对呀，往年他们已经掏腰包，今年怎么了？我开始琢磨如何开口要压岁钱。可是爸爸妈妈都看出了我的心思，俩人会意的一笑，看来偏让我着急，怎么办？这时，爸爸细声细气地说；“宝贝，收拾桌子，拾完了桌子我给你压岁钱。”我正在气头上，见爸爸气我，我想：我也气气他。就对爸爸和颜悦色地说：“您拾吧，拾完了我给你压岁钱。”可是爸爸未动地方，我还想找他们要回属于我的压岁钱，就对爸妈绕圈子，我对他们说：“拜年话已说，今年‘收成’还不错吧！”“啊！不错。”他俩齐声说。“那挣的钱还不算少吧！”我又渗了一下，“你们看呐！我是比较爱钞票，按传统习俗今年就赏点‘那个’东西吧！”“什么东西”他俩故意装作不知道的样子，可心里明白着呢！我做了一个“给我钞票”的手势，两只稚嫩的小手分别伸到他们眼前，双眼放出金光，嘴上挂着甜甜的微笑。爸妈看我已点明意思，只好把‘银子’交到我手上，我在为我的胜利高兴的时候，爸妈对我说：“洋洋，新年新气象，过了一个年，又长了一岁，长大了，就能使爸妈更省心，愿我们家的‘小树’茁壮成长。压岁压岁，岁岁平安，日日进步。”我说了一句；“ok”！

今年，在满是爸爸妈妈的祝福声中我大收了一笔压岁钱，我可一分没花，把它全交给了银行管理，因为那还能得到利息呢！

Dear Sir,

I understand your well-respected college offers a number of places to overseas students every year, and I am writing to enquire about the application procedure.

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are History, Economics and English Literature. In addition to these subjects, "Use of English" is also a compulsory subject because a pass in English is a minimum requirement for admission to most faculties of the University of Hong Kong.

Apart from academic work, I have been actively involved in extra-curricular activities. I am Chairman of the English Club and I have represented my school in many inter-school contests.

On the advice of my friends, I have decided to further my studies in England because I wish to widen my horizons and benefit from the scholarly heritage of your country.

I wish to continue to study the above-mentioned subjects at your college in the 2006/7 academic year before I sit the Advanced-level Examinations in England.

As regards my character, Mrs. Chen, my Principal, and Mr. Huang, my English master, have agreed to act as my references.

As I come from a family of fairly limited means, I would like to know if there is any financial assistance available for overseas students.
