“一元八角七。全都在这儿了，其中六角是一分一分的铜板。这些分分钱是杂货店老板、菜贩子和肉店老板那儿软硬兼施地一分两分地扣下来，直弄得自己羞愧难当，深感这种掂斤播两的交易实在丢人现眼。德拉反复数了三次，还是一元八角七，而第二天就是圣诞节了。”

圣诞节之前，女主德拉想给男朋友吉姆买一份礼物，可是她已经没有多余的钱了，没有办法的情况下，她决定卖掉自己的金发。而他的男朋友吉姆同样想买一份礼物给亲爱的德拉，终于在这个时候德拉为了买表链，卖掉了自己的金发。而吉姆为了买发卡卖掉了自己的金表。

读完这部短篇小说，我体会到了作者对纯真美好的爱情的赞扬，虽然他们没有钱，但是都愿意将自己认为最好的礼物给对方，虽然结果很诧异，但体现了两个人爱情的美好。

《麦琪的礼物》是一部非常优秀的作品，我以前读书的时候就知道，欧亨利的小说风格是既在意料之外，又在情理之中。作者无愧于”短篇小说之王“。今天我们要更加努力，通过自己的双手赚钱。

联合国科教文组织在1972年向全世界发出“走向阅读社会”的召唤，要求社会成员人人读书，图书成为生活的必需品，读书成为每个人日常生活不可或缺的一部分。1995年，联合国教科文组织宣布4月23日为“世界读书日”。

这篇《麦琪的礼物》写一对年轻的夫妻，丈夫有一只金表却没有相称的表链;妻子有一头美丽的长发，却没有相配的发梳，丈夫卖掉手表为妻子买了许多梳子,而妻子卖掉长发给丈夫买了金表链。两人同时为对方考虑各自干出了动力心魄的“壮举”，使得双方的愿望都落了空。也许他们很傻,但是这种夫妻之间的深情却让人万分感动。读完了这本书，发现欧 ·亨利的作品大多比较短，故事总是很戏剧性、行文幽默让我很喜欢。

这本书里。最让我喜欢的是《弃恶从善》这个故事。里面讲了一个刑满释放刚出监狱的犯人，因缺钱所以又参加了两次偷窃活动后隐姓埋名跑到了另一个小镇，却又因爱神的捉弄喜欢上了银行老板的女儿，所以留在了这个他不熟悉的小镇。有一天，因为一个特殊的原因是他暴露了自己的身份，于是，他在找到跟踪他的警察之后自首，可警察竟然没有抓他。喜欢这个故事的原因是故事里的每个人都有一副好心肠：警察因知道事情原委所以没逮捕主人公基米，基米则因为弃恶从善、改邪归正所以成为了小镇上小有名气的富翁，而老板的女儿莉则因为听了基米的解释后相信他，并幸福的生活在了一起。

我看完这个故事后常常在想，假如我们的社会中也多一些这样的人该多好呀!像我的同桌倪心源，虽然成绩不好，但每次我问他借东西，他总是能答应我。还有葛卜瑞，也有一副好心肠，每次遇到班上同学有困难，需要帮助的时候，他总是第一个举手的。还有姚佳辰、张忻恒等等，在我们班上都是有着一副好心肠。

读了欧?亨利的名作《麦琪的礼物》，我才深深地感受到了欧?亨利小说的吸引力。

小说的结尾总是出乎人的意料，往往对整部作品有着画龙点睛的作用这种结尾往往会造成心灵的震憾，给人更直接地心灵暗示，爱是相通的，但又是不可理喻的，只要互相谅解，互相支持，互相帮助，人世间将开满绚烂的爱之花!

只要是经典的，就必定是难忘的。

暑假里，我读了美国作家欧·亨利的短篇小说《麦琪的礼物》。一篇经典美文，让我过目难忘，回味无穷。

《麦琪的礼物》讲述了麦琪和吉姆相互送圣诞礼物的故事。麦琪和吉姆是生活在社会最底层的贫穷市民。他们夫妇俩各有一件引以自豪的东西，那就是麦琪那褐色的瀑布般的秀发和吉姆祖传的金表。圣诞节来临的时候，为了给对方买一件像样的礼物，麦琪卖掉了她美丽的长发，为吉姆的金表配了一条白金表链;而吉姆卖掉了宝贵的金表，为麦琪买了一套她以前在百老汇的橱窗里看到并羡慕得要死的昂贵的梳子。

虽然麦琪和吉姆的物质生活是贫穷的，但是他们的精神世界是如此富有;虽然他们极不明智地为对方牺牲了他们家最宝贵的东西，但是他们把对彼此的爱表现得如此生动。

麦琪和吉姆的故事只是漫长人生中的一个小小片段，然而作者却把整个故事写得跌宕起伏、引人入胜。总是短短几句话就把主人公的动作、表情、心理活动描写得维妙维肖、生动形象。并且我感到，作者一直是用同情的笔触, 来描写麦琪和吉姆贫穷生活中的这个小插曲，仿佛有一双温暖的眼睛，一直在注视着他们，鼓励着他们。这也许就是这篇文章成为经典的奥妙所在吧。

作者说：麦琪和吉姆是“所有馈赠和接受礼物的人中最聪明的人”，是圣贤;而我要说：发现他们是“最聪明的人”的作者，更是圣贤。

In a word, good books can make me know what I didnt before. So I think of a good book as my best friend.

阅读“皇帝的新衣”，我不得不把一阵笑声在他的傻瓜。《卖火柴的小女孩》不能不让我为她哭的痛苦。《鲁滨孙漂流记》把我带进了一个充满危险的陌生的世界。我也深深打动了海伦凯勒的耐心和毅力……除此之外，本书还告诉我其它的东西——如何成为一个男人，如何分辨对与错。总之，好的书籍可以让我知道什么我不在。所以我认为一个好的书是我最好的朋友。

两元八角七分，也全都在这儿了——这些钱是这一个月以来吉姆拼命工作所额外赚来的。他白天上班，晚上回家，等妻子入睡后，又偷偷起来替别人抄手稿。然而这一份稿件才几分钱的微薄收入又怎能为德拉买件精美的礼物呢？明天，就是圣诞节了！

他打了个哈欠，努力将腰身正了一正，却又控制不住地塌了下去。发黄的面庞中露出了一丝无耐。那枯黄的年轻面颊像他们住的公寓一样苍白无力，毫无生气。但一想到妻子德拉那热切的声音，还有那棕黄色的美丽长发后，微笑就渐渐浮上了他的脸。那双美丽的绿色眼睛中又发出了快乐与明亮的光芒。

在他心中，他的生命里只有一个人和两样东西值得一提：一是爱妻德拉，二是德拉那美丽的如同棕色瀑布一般的长发，还有自己祖父传下来的一块金表。但这三样都各有遗憾：德拉在这贫寒的家里受了多少苦？她那美丽秀发又没有一把像样的梳子去梳。而那名贵的传家金表，却又因是个破表链，而不太好意思带在手上。

吉姆趁没人的机会，偷偷将表拿出，仔细翻看着。那一根细细的秒针映着光辉，显得无比耀眼。嘀嘀嗒嗒有节奏地律动着。他痴痴地望着表盘，看时间飞速流过。离圣诞节，越来越近……他突然打了一个机灵——一个念头突然萌生。他用右手轻轻抚摸着那块金光闪闪的表，悄声说了一句“对不起了”，便把它快速揣进口袋，向上司随便找了个借口便出去了。

他一路上心不在焉，却突然在一家表店门口停住了脚步。他又把那两元八角七分拿出来看了看，叹了一口气，迈开脚走了进去。出来时，他已是满面红光，手在口袋里紧紧攥着那一打钱——三十元！迈开大步向闹市区走去。一两个小时过去了，他的手里终于捧好了一个精致秀美的小木盒——里面装着那份珍贵的圣诞礼物。他快步回家，极想见到德拉那惊讶与幸福的表情。

As we know, World Reading Day which falls on April 23rd is drawing near. The purpose of the global festival is to promote reading and publishing. Nowadays, a lot of students prefer to spend much time in watching TV and they are crazy about Internet. So, most of them dont have enough time to read books. And still worse, they dont like reading. However, reading is necessary. I firmly think that by reading, we not only enrich our life ,and broaden our horizons but also learn to perfect our personality. Now that reading is good for us, let’s develop a good habit of reading. I strongly suggest that every one of us should read at least one or two good books every term.
