Table Manners

The main difference between Chinese and western eating habits is that unlike the West, where everyone has their own plate of food, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. American eating is funny. They eat almost everything with a fork, and it appears that holding a knife in ones right hand longer than a few seconds is considered to be against good table manners.

The system is that if it is absolutely necessary to use a knife, people take the fork in their left hand, and cut off a piece of meat or whatever it is in the normal manner. 沃尔特格罗佩斯是二十世纪最重要的现代设计家、设计理论家和设计教育的奠基人。1907至1910年间，他师从德国著名建筑大师彼得贝伦斯（Peter Behrens），也是他一生中所受的最大影响。1911年，他成为德国劳工同盟组织中的成员，同时他们建立了一种新的设计方式，即：将创造性的设计师与机器作品相结合的制作方式。该组织反对模仿，同时讨厌为功能而行的简单理论。1919年，格罗佩斯成为Grand Ducal Saxon艺术学校和艺术学院（Crafts Academy of Arts and School of Arts）的主任，并创立了魏玛国立鲍豪斯设计学校（Staatliches Bauhaus Weimar）。后来包豪斯成为“建筑的家园”，学校的座右铭是“艺术和建筑的新统一”。鲍豪斯学校的课程主要包括对于石头、木头、金属、陶土、玻璃、颜料以及织品的研究，同时还包括对自然、原料、几何结构、建筑物、绘画、色彩以及合成物品的分析和研究。

格罗佩斯在设计领域方面阐述了一种新观点，即将艺术和工业融合在一起。

格罗佩斯认为建筑师的职责包括视觉环境，同时还应该通过团队的方式来完成各项工作。这一理论涵盖了各种设计，比如椅子、房子、城市等的设计。每个项目都要经过这样的过程，即对特殊需要的部分和所涉及到的问题进行系统的研究。考虑到现在的原料和技术并未涉及到先前的形式和风格，因此他为大量急迫的社会问题寻求了明智的解决方法，并尽力在商业、技术与有创造性的设计师的想象力方面构筑了沟通的桥梁。

他进行过电车、火车以及豪华的机动车辆的设计，还运用简单的几何学知识进行创作，通常，改变尺度的长方形就能代表不同的层次。用光滑的表面、原初色系（红黄蓝）以及现代的原料（比如钢材、玻璃等）进行设计的形式比较明显。在线性和水平元素之中， 格罗佩斯引进了力量、稳定性以及机动性等特征。由他设计的作品单纯和整洁，而其体积和位面则经常借助其功能由光线起着强调的作用，同时格罗佩斯极为关注细节。窗户是一件很重要的工具，窗口与正面墙壁的平齐则加强了整个空间的整体完整性，而窗口凹进去的地方则强调了天花板的位面。通过对光线角度和图像比例的研究，格罗佩斯给出了一个较为完美的定位：“我们收集了如此大量的技术材料，以至于这些陈列品几乎完全剥夺了我们的平衡觉。我们的城市呈现出了一种为所有人完全释放的面貌，残酷的竞争进入到人们的思想、心中以及身体的每一处。”

从他的著作中可以看到他最好的经验之一，“新的时代需要人们充分的展示自我。精确的标记形式缺乏整体性和明显的对照，而组员的分配就像整体中的部分，比如色彩符合恰当的风格就应该像经济学对人一生的影响一样重要。”

There are four seasons in a year.

Let us start from winter. Of course the snow is the symbol of the winter. It is the snowflakes, flying in the wind. The symbol of spring is the green colour coming into the sight. That is the grass. Broad and large leaves of the maize may be the symbol of summer. At last, the yellow leaves falling down from the trees means the autumn arrives.
