Scientists have developed more effective technologies in waste treatment. As time goes by, more and more people put high priority on the protection of environment for a healthier life.

To sum up, people produce huge amount of garbage and the environment is seriously polluted because of lack of financial resources, sense of responsibility, or efforts. But the world will not turn into a “throw away” society if people put in sufficient efforts to protect our environment.

Serious Floods

The Yangzte River is the longest river in China. And its important and helpful to us Chinese. But these days the Yangtze River is bringing us serious floods.

Many villages were destroyed by floods. The floods made hundreds of millions of people lose their homes, relatives and friends. The older one is, the deeper influence the humanity would be. When one is just a little child, he would go directly to what he like and claim it. 为了我们的环境，我要跟那些人说：“请你们不要再破坏环境了，否则自然灾害就会降临到人类。如果再这样继续破坏的话，整个地球就会消失。世界末日始终会到来。

地球是我家，保护环境靠大家。让我们一起行动起来，保护我们这个美丽可爱的地球吧!

今天，我和爸爸经过我家附近的一条小河时，闻到了一股臭烘烘的味道。

我捂起了鼻子，问爸爸：“哪来的臭味儿啊？”爸爸没有有回答，带我来到了小河边。“呀，河水怎么这么脏啊？”我惊讶地问。只见河面上漂浮着很多垃圾，连河里的鱼儿都奄奄一息了。爸爸叹了口气说：“你看那边的工厂，每天浓烟滚滚，再加上人们乱丢垃圾，所以河水才会这么脏。”我抬头看了看天，只见浓烟像乌云一样，把太阳都遮住了，天空变得灰蒙蒙的。

爸爸说：“我小时候还经常到这条河里游泳呢。那时候，河水清澈见底，里面的小鱼自由地嬉戏，河边绿树成阴，每年春天都有成群的燕子飞来安家，可美了！”

“那怎样才能让小河恢复以前的样子呢？”我着急地问。“这需要我们每一个人都自觉地爱护环境才行啊，否则我们的生存环境还会更恶劣。”爸爸严肃地说。

听了爸爸的话，想到自己以前吃了零食就把包装袋随手乱扔，我的脸红了。我对爸爸说：“以后我再也不乱丢垃圾了，我还要号召班上的同学一起去宣传保护环境的道理，让小河变得和以前一样美丽！”爸爸摸着我的头，欣慰地笑了。

末日的警钟一分一秒的接近，有“地球之肺”的森林逐渐的减少，地球开始崩毁，地球只有一个，而且这一个属于大家，而不是人类的，地球是我们的庇护所，我们应该找到一个和地球共存的平衡点，减少地球的怒气，让人类不再是加重灾难来临的推手，让我们有更好的生活环境，同时也替后代子孙多留一些生存空间。

这几年我们的长江、黄河上游的人们砍伐树木，不保护环境，使得长江、黄河上游的水和土壤流失的很厉害，长江下游经常发洪水，黄河的水里有好多泥沙。我们新疆的塔里木河是我国最长的内陆河，塔里木河岸边的胡杨林是可以用来吸住泥土不会出现沙尘暴，可是人们在塔里木河的上游大面积开荒截水使得下游河水干枯，造成上百万亩的胡杨林死亡。至使本来就很贫瘠的土地，更加沙漠化。我们乌鲁木齐的人家做饭、取暖的烟囱冒出来的黑烟和汽车尾气的大量排放使的空气被污染。使乌鲁木齐的冬天看不到蓝天，雪也是黑的。

我在电视看见韩国的饭店用的筷子都是金属做的，可以反复用。可是在我们国家大大小小的饭店全是用的一次性筷子，据我了解一棵生长五十年的桦树只够十家饭店一天用的筷子的数量，中国有多少家饭店?一天要用多少棵桦树啊!!

对于我们校学生来讲要保护环境，首先要从不要乱人垃圾果皮纸屑，见到有人乱扔垃圾要给他讲道理。大人们也不要砍伐树木，这样会污染环境。要从节约每一滴水、每一度电做起、从小树立保护环境的意识，做到保护环境，人人有责。使我们的家园更美好!

我们再来说说树木减少的问题吧!现在好多树木已经被我们砍伐叻，所以沙尘暴来了，洪水来了，大自然来报复我们了。我们都知道使用的一次性筷子都是用树木做的，如果我们每个人每天可以少用一双一次性筷子，一年下来就可以保留千万棵树木，看到这时，你还在放肆自己的行为吗?

我们再来看看那天空，蓝蓝的天不见了，白白的云也藏起来了，是真的没有了吗?不是的，它们只是被工厂排放的浓烟给“保护”起来了。

这些都是水造成的呢?都是我们人类自己，如果不乱砍伐树木、垃圾，合理排放净化过的污水，相信我们的地球就会很美。保护地球人人有责，让我们一起来保护环境吧!

我们每一个人能感受着学校一直都在绿化，美化，净化校园环境。当我们在教室学习，清洁舒适的环境带来的好心情，我们深深感受到一个整洁的校园对全体师生多么重要。

同学们在校园成长，生活，长大，校园其实就是我们的第二个家。我们每天可以看到同学在校园的各个角落打扫卫生，捡拾果皮纸屑，用自己的双手去维护和营造优美的校园环境。

我们每一位同学都是校园里的一名成员，都有维护校园的义务和责任。校园美好的环境存在需要我们共同营造，文明的习惯也是靠我们平时一点一滴养成的，归根到底我们的生活学习环境靠每一位同学来维护。

为进一步创造良好的校园环境我们应该树立校园意识，以爱护校园环境为主。自觉维护校园的清洁卫生，做好值日工作，养成良好的卫生习惯。不随地吐痰，不乱扔果皮纸屑，不在校园里吃零食。爱护校园环境，不在墙面，桌面乱涂，乱画，乱刻。不攀摘花草树木，爱护一花一草。

环境问题，已经是关乎生存质量和幸福，刻不容缓的问题。美好环境将是我们赖以生存和发展的基础，爱护环境需人人做起，从诸多小事做起。

大长安文化艺术沙龙要求会员们爱护环境积极行动起来并向广大人民发出以下倡议：

一、自觉维护所到区域环境卫生，不论是小区、小巷内，还是大街、公交、地铁上，做到不乱扔果皮、纸屑、烟头等，不随地吐痰、随意停车、随意喧哗等，养成良好文明习惯。

五、建议每一天从微笑、健康、卫生、慈爱、实践开始，让爱心常在、阳光普照，善待自己、诚心生活、善待社会。

World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Another resolution, adopted by the General Assembly the same day, led to the creation of UNEP .

World Environment Day can be celebrated in many ways, including street rallies, bicycles parades, green concerts, essay and poster competitions in schools, tree planting, recycling efforts, clean-up campaigns and much more.

Heads of State, Prime Ministers and Ministers of Environment deliver statements and commit themselves to care for the Earth. More serious pledges are made which lead to the establishment of permanent governmental structures dealing with environmental management and economic planning. This observance also provides an opportunity to sign or ratify international environmental conventions.

World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

The World Environment Day theme selected for 2004 is Wanted! Seas and Oceans - Dead or Alive? The theme asks that we make a choice as to how we want to treat the Earths seas and oceans. It also calls on each and every one of us to act. Do we want to keep seas and oceans healthy and alive or polluted and dead?

The main international celebrations of the World Environment Day 2004 will be held in Barcelona, Spain in close collaboration with the Universal Forum of Cultures. UNEP is honoured that the City of Barcelona, the Catalan Regional Government and the Government of Spain will be hosting this important United Nations day.
