I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. She felt that it was her duty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her during her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. 书中的人物无不充斥着孤独感。这也许正是作者想要对我们表达的，这个家族的孤独性给整个家族带来了毁灭。同样，这个没有感情沟通，缺乏信任和了解的家族也象征了当时的社会。或许作者正以此书来表达自己对拉美民族共同团结，摆脱孤独的强烈愿望。

随着科技的高速发展，人类对资源的需求越来越多，致使南极北极冰雪融化的速度加快、海平面日渐上升、南极出现臭氧空洞、北京的沙尘暴、雾霾天气不断增加、日本大地震后造成的核泄漏污染……
