这一段点睛之笔，用充满激情的语言借赞美蜜蜂，赞美了为建设美好生活而无私奉献的精神，揭示了文章的主旨，升华了文章的主题。

有一篇题为《起点》的作文，文章主体部分写“我”克服种种心理障碍，帮下岗后又卖冰棍的妈妈守了一天摊的故事，文章末尾议论道：

我想对妈妈说： 妈妈，你看，今天是我的起点。它不是摆摊子的起点，不是卖冰棍的起点，而是我懂事的起点，孝心的起点，勇气的起点，懂得生活的起点。

这也是一段点睛之笔，它既点了题，又揭示了“起点”的内涵。文章也因此而丰厚起来。

点睛之笔是否一定是在篇末呢?也不尽然。冰心老人的《小橘灯》，其中“这朦胧的橘红的光，实在照不了多远，但这小姑娘的镇定、勇敢、乐观的精神鼓舞了我，我似乎觉得眼前有无限的光明”的点睛之笔就出现在篇中。而《任弼时同志二三事》、《背影》的点睛之笔就冠于篇首。由此可见，点睛之处并无定法，可因文而异，只要能成为“一篇之警策”(陆机《文赋》)即可。

但点睛之笔无论在何处，都必须与全文结为一个有机的整体，刘熙载在《艺概》中指出：“在篇首则后顾之，在篇末则前必注之，在篇中则前注之，后顾之。”这里的“顾”、“注”即前后的照应。这句话告诉我们，点睛之笔是万军之统帅，全文都需环绕着它。

如《任弼时同志二三事》，篇首的点睛之笔是任弼时同志的三怕：一怕工作少，二怕麻烦人，三怕用钱多。下文的带病工作、关心群众、坚持原则、生活朴素等事迹的叙述，无不与篇首的“睛”相顾。

鲁迅的《一件小事》的点睛之笔是在篇中。文章前半部是把“我”和车夫放在鲜明的对比之中：车夫见撞了人便立住脚，而“我”则怕误了路催他“走你的吧”;车夫细心询问老人的伤势，而“我”则觉得“自讨苦吃”;车夫毫不踌躇地搀着老人向巡警分驻所走去，而“我”却感到诧异。行文至此，“我”的渺小，车夫的崇高直注“点睛”之处，于是，作者写道：

我这时突然感到一种异样的感觉，觉得他满身灰尘的后影，霎时高大了，而且愈走愈大，须仰视才见。而且他对于我，渐渐的又几乎变成一种威压，甚而至于要榨出皮袍下面藏着的“小”来。

接着，文章又写了“我”的凝滞、“我”的自责、“我”的痛苦、“我”的惭愧、“我”的自新，这些又都步步顾盼点睛之笔，使“睛”真正成了前后两个部分的聚光点，正应了“在篇中则前注之，后顾之”。

杨朔散文《香山红叶》的点睛之笔又置于篇末。文章从开始就层层铺垫，不断暗示老向导与红叶的相似点，文势直注而下，最后终于揭示出主旨：

我却摘到一片更可贵的红叶，藏到我心里去，这不是一般的红叶，这是一片曾在人生中经过风吹雨打的红叶，越到老秋，越红得可爱。不用说，我指的是那位老向导。

这是由衷的感慨，这是人民的赞歌，正是这点睛之笔，使全文顿时生辉。

点睛除了位置必须恰当外，还有必要研究“睛”的语言表达方式。“睛”的语言应以简、精、深为总原则。简则简要明白;精则浓缩精练;深则深邃含蓄。具体地说，“睛”的语言表达可以有这样几种方式：

其一，直抒感慨。这是点睛的主要表达方式，这种感慨大都含有哲理性，类似警句或格言。 如鲁迅《故乡》的结尾：

我想，希望是本无所谓有，无所谓无的。这正如地上的路;其实地上本没有路，走的人多了，也便成了路。

这简直是诗一样的警句。它既抨击了造成故乡贫困、萧条、落后的黑暗社会，又给人以极大的启示：要用自己的努力和斗争，去开辟一条通往幸福生活的路。

这种直抒感慨，或令人振奋、或叫人警戒、或引人深思，常有绕梁三日，余音不绝之效。

其二，借文中人物之口以显示主旨。老作家杜鹏程的《夜走灵官峡》就是借文中小成渝的话——“每个人都要朽(守)住康(岗)位”来赞美战斗在筑路第一线的工人们并揭示主题的。这要比作者站出来议论一番要生动自然得多。

其三，引用诗文来升华主题。这种方式，常有巧夺天工之妙，主旨在不知不觉间显出。如彭荆风的《驿路梨花》就引用陆游《闻武均州已复西京》诗中诗句“驿路梨花处处开”来表达“神州人人学雷锋”的主题的。旧诗新用，言简意赅，意味无穷。

三、开始写作

开始写作时一定要注意以下几点：

很多同学对英语书面表达的部分都感到头疼，一是因为突然拿到一个题目，脑中一片空白，写不出几个句子来，二是写好一篇文章，可是总是流于平淡，语言枯燥，不得老师喜爱，分数也一直不高不低，难以突破。建议同学们，第一类问题，是可以通过练习而补救的，第二类问题，则需要我们的积累和智慧了。
