Girls at a training course offered by the "Care for Girls" program in

Qingjian county, Shaanxi province, talked about their pursuit of dreams despite

我已经是一名中学生了，已经不再是小学那个不懂事的孩子了。在高中，我要改掉小学一些不好的毛病，例如：在小学时我不爱说话，上课从来不举手回答问题，老师也拿我没有办法，因此我的表达能力不强，特别是语文的阅读题经常写不出什么感想，再加上我上课有时走神，语文的成绩就非常不理想。我还有一个极大的问题，就是马虎。妈妈也经常叮嘱我别马虎，而我就是把它当做耳旁风，觉得这并不算问题，只要考试时认真就行。可考试时还是改不掉这个毛病，数学经常抄错数，所以数学也很少的高分，并且我上课不爱认真思考，下课也不爱专心学习，因此成绩一直排在别人后面。

Genghis Khan, "Khan of Khans", was the great leader of Mongolians. At the end of 12th century, he united Mongolian tribes and challenged other powers to expand his huge Mongolian empire, which extended from South China to the Caspian Sea.

In 1277, Khan attacked the West Xia Kingdom (presently Ningxia) and encountered strong resistance. He died of disease and age. The great emperor was later buried secretly according to Mongolian custom. It says that after the burial 2,000 men were slaughtered by some 800 soldiers who were in turn executed so that the location of the real tomb remains a secret.

There are four sacrifice ceremonies held annually to commemorate the great hero and leader of the Mongolian people. The ceremony, held on March 21st on lunar calendar, is the grandest. After the ceremony, horse racing, archery and wrestling are held as entertainment.

My first day in school

Today is September 1st. It’s the first day of a new term. I’m very happy because I’m a student in Chengli Middle School.

The school is very big and beautiful. There are so many teachers and students. They are very friendly. I’m in Class 2, Grade 7. Miss Liu is our head teacher. She teaches us English. She looks very strict. In our first class she told us what we should do and what we shouldn’t do in school.

Today was Saturday, early in the morning, I woke up and stayed at home the whole morning to watch TV. After finishing my lunch, I had nothing to do, so I decided to call my friends out. I headed to the coffee shop which was near a square.

There were a lot of people in the square, some women were dancing and singing, while some men were taking the chess. I walked into the coffee shop, chose a table which was near the window, so that I could see the outside scenery.

When my friends came, we talked happily, we shared the things that happened during these days.

What’s more, career can provide us with a means to live on. Most of the people earn their income from a job. On the other hand, family is also an indispensable part of life, as many people will admit. Family is always regarded as a place where we can escape from troubles in life. In my opinion, career and family are not in opposition to each other. Rather, they can enhance each other so that one’s life can become better and better. Therefore, it’s not a choice between right and wrong, but one between ideal and practical.

Yesterday my classmates and I went to on a picnic. According to our plan we would climb the West Mountain.
