The most eye-catching feature in the picture that impresses me profoundly is that incredibly even the pet dog wears a mask to prevent the terrible smog and haze. As a matter of fact, recent years has witnessed a severe air-pollutionphenomenon triggered by automobile gas emission and industrial exhaust, which will definitely bedisastrous to individual survival and personal development.

It goes without saying that the problem of hazy weather should be attached great importance to by the government and the consequences should be taken into profound consideration. To account for the above-mentioned air-pollution phenomenon, a couple of severe reasons should be pointed out. On the one hand , the severely polluted air industrial wastes have been pumped into the air, the lakes and rivers and an increasing number of automobiles crowd into the streets and produce the gas emission. On the other hand, the widespread use of plastic bags and coal burning as well as the nationwide construction dust have been pumped into the air from time to time.

As a matter of fact, the smog and haze not only does harm to the lungs and noses but alsogives rise to horrible traffic accidents. In addition, no issue is as harmful as theenvironmental deterioration, which will be a potential threat to the survival of human beings that we are unwilling to see. Just according to a recent survey made by one Morning News, more than 40 percent of Chinese cities are suffering from the hazy weather per year.

As a result, it is essential that a couple of effective measures should be taken to prevent the environmental pollution. To start with, the local government should take more steps, such as closing the factories which produced too much industrial exhaust, planting more trees and develop more high-tech products so that air quality can be better and the weather can be more agreeable. In addition, the government should severely punish those who destroy the environment intentionally. Last but not least, it is urgent to limit the number of private cars in the urban cities and we should adopt the most cutting-edge technologies with a view to creating more energy substitutes instead of the petroleum. Only by the above-mentioned pragmatic measures can we enjoy better health and live a more comfortable life.

The older I grow, the more I appreciate children. Now, at my 80th birthday, I salute them again. The quality of human life has improved greatly over the past few centuries, but Earth is being harmed more and more by human activity. As we develop our technology, we demand more from our planet. Eventually, this will harm people as well.

Our planet gives us everything we need, but natural resources are not endless. Strip mining devastates whole regions, leaving bare and useless ground. Deforestation removes old growth trees that cant be replaced. Too much fishing may harm fish populations to the point where they cant recover. We are too careless in taking what we want without giving anything back.

There are more people than ever, living longer that ever. So is it any surprise that many areas suffer from too much development? Anyone living in or near a city has experienced "urban sprawl". Keeping up with human demand is hard enough. Environmental concerns come in last.

With growth comes pollution. Companies and communities dump waste into water. Landfills are full of trash. Emissions from factories pollute the air. Barrels of industrial waste and worse, radioactive waste, have no safe place to go. If were not careful, we can harm our planet beyond repair.

People need to respect the Earth and try to preserve it. If we dont, what kind of future will we have?

老师、职工、同学们，在过去的一年中，我校在校党委的正确领导下，认真贯彻十六大及十六届三中全会精神，努力实践“三个代表”重要思想，全面贯彻党的教育方针和海南农垦教育工作会议精神，坚持“办学以教师为本，教学以学生为本，向学生的升学负责，对学生的成长负责”的理念，着力打造一所学生管理严格，人文素养高，学习氛围浓，创新精神强的一流学校，积极探索适应新形势要求的学校教育教学管理的改革新路，充分挖掘学校各方面办学要素的潜能，使学校政治文明、物质文明、精神文明三个文明建设取得了显著成绩。2004届师范生毕业113人，合格率100%;2004年259名应届高考考生中有223人入围本科，入围率为86.1%，其中入围本科第一批(国线)104人，入围率达40.2%，其中A段(高分段)14人，单科成绩达700分以上16人，创造了历史最好水平。我校全体师生在校党委的领导下，团结一致，众志成城，顺利地完成各项教育教学任务，得到了社会和家长们的一致好评，被省农垦总局授予“防治非典型肺炎先进集体”，被省文体厅授予“千里文化长廊”达标单位。这些成绩饱含了全体教职工在过去的一年中的辛勤劳作和不懈努力，饱含了全体师生的聪明与才智，也体现了我们每一位师生在学习、工作、生活中不断创新，努力进取，顽强拼搏的良好风貌。

老师、职工、同学们，成绩已成为过去，新学年已经开始，我们将在新的时期里面对新的挑战。今年是我校办学取得阶段性成果后将取得突破性进程的关键性一年。为此，学校党委紧紧围绕总结经验，改革创新，拓宽路子，加快发展这一思路，有计划、全方位、深层次、讲成效地开展一系列建设性工作，为把我校建成省内一流学校不懈努力。

教师是教学生产力最具活力的因素。尊师重教是我们中华民族的传统美德，是我们培养优秀人才的重要前提，我们要在学校营造浓郁的尊师重教氛围，今天我们欣喜地看到，同学们为每位教师送上一束鲜花和诚挚的祝福，总局教育局羊文勇副局长代表总局到我校进行慰问。学校领导要善待教师，要为每一位教师服务，要关心教师的生活，维护教师的利益，支持教师的成长，多为教师办好事、办实事。全体同学要尊敬教师，理解教师对同学们的良苦用心，尊重教师为我们付出的辛勤劳动，记住教师对同学们的谆谆教诲。希望我们的教师要像江主席所要求的那样：做先进生产力和先进文化发展的弘扬者和推动者，做青少年学生健康成长的指导者和引路人，努力成为无愧于党和人民的人类灵魂的工程师。我们的教师要谨记“爱生、博学、严谨、创新”的教风，按照我校的培养目标，教育他们立志成为中国特色社会主义建设的栋梁之材。

我们的教师要自觉加强师德修养，既要有脚踏实地、乐于奉献的工作态度，又要有淡泊明志、甘为人梯的精神境界，以自己高深的人格魅力影响学生。我们的教师要与时俱进，不断以新的知识充实自己，成为热爱学习，学会学习和终身学习的楷模。
