大熊猫是世界上最珍贵的动物之一，主要分布在我国的四川、甘肃、陕西省的个别崇山峻岭地区，数量十分稀少，属于国家一类保护动物，称为“国宝”。

它不但被世界野生动物协会选为会标，而且还常常担负“和平大使”的任务，带着中国人民的友谊，远渡重洋，到国外攀亲结友，深受各国人民的欢迎。大熊猫身体胖软，头圆颈粗，耳小尾短，四肢粗壮，身长约1.5米，肩高60-70厘米左右，体重可达100-180千克。特别是那一对八字形黑眼圈，犹如戴着一副墨镜，非常惹人喜爱。 大熊猫的祖先是食肉动物，现在却偏爱吃素，主要以吃箭竹为生。

我总结出一条一荣一耻：“以保护动物为荣，以捕杀动物为耻”。

The global polar bear population could decline by more than 30 percent in as little as 35 years. Thats according to a new study in The Royal Societys Biology Letters.

Researchers looked at climate change effect on the Arctic Sea and calculated the likelihood of this projected population drop is 71 percent.

Thats because polar bears stand on Arctic Sea ice when hunting for seals. According to NASA, even the thickest ice in the Arctic Ocean has "either thinned or melted away."

And just this week, scientists reported sea ice levels in the area were at a record low for this time of year.

This all adds up to not great news for polar bears. With an estimated population of 26,000, the bears are already listed as a vulnerable species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

Panda—the National Treasure

Panda is one of the scarcest animals.People in the world like it very much.There used to be many pandas in China long ago.As the balance of nature was destroyed and the weather was getting warmer and warmer,pandas became less.But at present,the number of pandas is increasing year by year.There are now so many pandas that some are being sent to other countries so that people there can enjoy them.

Nowadays,the biggest nature park for panda in China is in Sichuan.There is a research centre for nature and wild life there.Scientists hope that one day they will have enough pandas to be set free and let them live in the wild again.

一天，我到集市去，忽然听到一位老爷爷高声喊道：“卖青蛙喽!卖青蛙喽!活蹦乱跳的青蛙。”接着就听见几声凄惨的蛙鸣，我顺着声音走过去，只见几只青蛙被老爷爷用一根绳子绑在一起，前脚向外伸着，想逃脱。可总是被老爷爷拉出去，竹篓里也装着青蛙。老爷爷眼里是大把大把的钞票，而不是满天乱飞张牙舞爪的蚊子。我望着这场面，听着惨叫，我的心不禁揪紧了。

青蛙的本领很多，它能预报天气，我国有不少的农谚也是反映蛙鸣雨天气的关系的，如“雨后蟾蜍叫，不久大雨到。”青蛙还是捕食昆虫的健将，当青蛙尚处在幼虫的时候，它一天就能吃掉一百多只孑孓，而长大成蛙后，用它灵巧的舌头，平均每天可吃掉七十多只害虫。青蛙还能预报丰收，南宋诗人辛弃疾在西江月中写道“稻花香里说丰年，听取蛙声一片”。

我们学过《狼与鹿》一课，人为了保护鹿却过渡的捕杀狼，鹿成破坏森林的祸首，是鹿和凯巴伯森林走向灭亡。这篇课文告诉我们：自然界的各种事物是密切联系的，不能随意破坏生态平衡，不然会产生无法想象的后果。卖青蛙的老爷爷您想想吧：如果您抓了一只青蛙，就会放掉七十多只害虫，难道您想看到漫天耀武扬威的蚊子和被蚊子咬的遍体鳞伤的我们吗?

人类啊!快醒醒吧。不要让害虫再猖狂了!我提出倡议：让我们和动物和平共处，保护人类的好朋友—青蛙吧!

shark-skin like swimsuit

A new high-performance swimsuit,developed by mimicking the skin of sharks,will be worn by top athletes in Athens from this week.

The revolutionary new fabric,developed by Speedo,is the result of four years of research and development that began with the study of shark skin at the Natural History Museum .

The new swimsuit,called Fastskin FSII,increases a swimmers speed by reducing passive drag through water by up to 4% more than the next best swimsuit.

Research into shark skin texture and movement through water was carried out under the guidance of Natural History Museum fish expert Ollie Crimmen.

Tiny teeth cover the surface of a sharks skin and the shape and positioning of these teeth vary across the body to manage the flow of water.

With these findings Speedo created a full bodyskin with different fabrics on different parts of the body and for the first time,male- and female-specific and stroke-specific swimsuits.

我曾经听到过这样一句话：“每一个生命都有一段故事，每一个生命都是一个不朽的传奇。”或许你会说：“有谁在意过一只小小的蚂蚁?它虽有生命，但不值一提。”如果你这样想就错了，每一个生命来到这个世界上都不容易，所以，请尊重每一个生命。

10月5日下午，我跟着德州晚报的小记者去德州人民公园里的动物园去看那些大自然的精灵——动物们。一进门就看到一只大灰狼，懒懒地趴在笼子里的地上。老师说：“它是狗的近亲。”嘿，长得还真像一只大狗。它对我们的到来一点儿也不感兴趣，眯着双眼理都不理。别看它现在老实，可是我知道，在草原上可是连豹子都不敢轻易招惹它的，威风得很呢。继续往前走，我们还看到了高大的双峰驼、笨重的黑熊、健壮的果下马、美丽的孔雀、凶猛的老虎、强壮的狮子。小时候，我走到这里就不敢走了，跟个老鼠似的躲在爸爸怀里，不敢抬头。现在想起来还挺不好意思呢。一会儿就来到了我最喜欢的猴山，里面有好多猴子，你追我跑，爬上爬下，一个个玩得兴高采烈，猴王高高地坐在山顶，傲然地看着它的子民，还真有大王的样子呢。我们都哈哈地笑了起来。

出了动物园，我们又去了旁边的趣味园。这是让游人和动物们亲密接触的地方，人们在这里可以亲手喂动物吃东西，还能轻轻地抚摸它们呢。

这次参观动物园我有了深深地感触：动物们也是地球大家庭中的一员，它们和我们一样也有生存的权利，它们是我们的朋友，是我们的邻居。我们应该去了解它们，爱护它们。这样我们的地球才能健康、美好，才能更加丰富多彩!
