马克·吐温的作品立意清新，极尽幽默讽刺之能，语言驾驭得恰到好处，不愧为美国的幽默大师和语言大师。难怪人们说，“没有马克·吐温，就没有今天的美国英语。”我最喜欢马克·吐温的《竞选州长》和《一张百万英镑钞票》，《竞选州长》辛辣地揭露批判了美国所谓的民主和自由，简直就是一幅幽默诙谐、滑稽逗笑的漫画!好笑之余，又能隐约透视到善良的人们对时政的失望和无奈;而《一张百万英镑钞票》一针见血地批判了人们的拜金主义思想。一张张滑稽和趋炎附势的嘴脸道出了世态炎凉。沉重之中，作者又让我们看到了主人公未泯的良心和他对崇高爱情的追求，我们好像是在暗夜中看到了一束光亮。我更羡慕和钦佩他的语言驾驭能力，他常常把一个细节描写得奇妙无穷，读他的文章简直就是一种享受!

欧·亨利的作品结构布局与众不同，其故事情节既合情合理，又出人意料，如《麦琪的礼物》、《警察与赞美诗》等，让我们在悲凉辛酸之余挤出一个“含泪的微笑”;他的《高尚的骗子》系列，更是在揶揄之中含有淡淡的讽刺，妈妈曾开玩笑地说生活中的骗子似乎都研读过《高尚的骗子》系列，他们的骗术似乎都是欧·亨利某些小说的翻版，他们似乎都拜欧·亨利为祖师爷……

《大名人小故事》通俗易懂、言简意赅、短小精悍。分爱国、勇敢、求实、创新、立志、改过、勤学、惜时、智慧和友谊十三篇，二百三十多个故事，这些故事是经典中的经典，智慧中的智慧，是我们少儿的最爱。名人是我们的榜样，榜样的力量是无穷的，我从中受益匪浅。

《快乐王子集》让我过了一把童话梦，王尔德的故事就像诗一样美。快乐王子是美的化身，他的真诚、善良让我们油然而生敬意，而他悲惨的结局更震撼着我们的心灵。在我们心中，这种为了他人的幸福而牺牲自己的精神是非常崇高的。

《三字经》涉及到教育、孝道、生活中的方方面面，内容广泛，一应俱全，简单明了。它列举了中国古代的重要典籍和儿童读书的次序，讲述了三皇至清代的朝代变革，简要地概括了中国的历史，强调了学习要勤奋、刻苦、孜孜不倦，并且用运了训多典故，知识性非常强，像黄香温席、孔融让梨、孟母择邻处断机杼、孙康映雪夜读、车胤囊虫夜读、路温舒蒲草抄书、公孙弘削竹简刻书、朱买臣负薪读书、李密挂角边牧边读、孔子师项橐、祖茔八岁吟诗、蔡文姬四岁变琴音、刘宴七岁做正字的官……这些都是我们耳熟能详的经典故事。当然《三字经》也有许多糟粕，我们应该有选择、有鉴别地学习，而不是一味地模仿或照搬，如孙敬头悬梁、苏秦锥刺股的故事，孙敬和苏秦勤奋苦读的精神确实值得我们学习，但他们的方法却不值得借鉴。现在人们的屋子里基本找不到可以拴头发的房梁，男生基本上是短发或光头，即使有梁也没有头发可栓，而女生也没几个有可以吊起来拴在梁上的头发。更重要的是，我们儿童正处于生长发育阶段，保持充足的睡眠是必要的。只有休息好了，才有充沛的精力更好地学习，这样才能取得事半功倍的效果。如果我们一味地模仿他们样子迷迷糊糊地苦读，这样的读书效果只能是事倍功半，至于他们通过自残使自己保持清醒就更不可取了。再说宋朝的梁灏，苦读那枯燥的几本书，读了七八十年，才金榜题名。他这一生就用来读那几本书了，八十二及第，八十二都挨着死亡的边了，还能为国家做多少贡献?如果他用着七八十年做其它他擅长的事情，或许更能实现他的人生价值。而“彼女子，且聪敏;尔男子，当自警”这句话本身就有重男轻女的思想，至于其中提到的三纲五常，这是束缚人的封建礼教，就更不可取了……

书能带给我们丰富的知识，书能教给我们许多做人的道理，书能让我们博古通今……漫步在书的海洋中，和书中人物同喜同悲，因他们的欢乐而欢乐，因他们的悲愤而悲愤;和作者一起嬉笑怒骂，阅尽世间百态;和那些哲人圣贤共同研修设身立命、为人处世之道，感悟人生的真谛……

The Ten-minute Break Between Classes Time seems to be so limited for us Senior Three students. As a result, more and more students try to study from early morning till late afternoon, even during the ten-minute breaks. In my view, taking a ten minute break between classes is equally important. Otherwise, we will feel exhausted both physically and mentally,During the ten minute break, we are supposed to do something really relaxing, we need is to have a rest, instead of getting more tired. Besides, studying during the break doesn ’ t necessarily mean that you will achieve more. So doing nothing tiring in that short period is of greater significance. As far as my ten-minute breaks are concerned, sometimes I take some simple exercise, such as having a walk with my classmates, or just a free chat to refresh myself. When the next class begins, I feel energetic again.

Matt gave us a class this afternoon, at the first part of the class, we saw a film. It was mainly about American football. After the film, we began t get to know the American football. It is similar to soccer, but it was much rougher. Players might get more easily. In another word, it was a game full of danger, they played just like fighting. One of the players just broke his leg during the match, and he would never play American football, because of his leg. What a pity! Matt told us that when he was in high school, he also take part in American football. He had broken his fingers for three times and his leg for once. Then I was puzzled, it was a very dangerous game, why was is popular?

China has long been known as “the land of ceremony and propriety.” Today however people often complain that public morals are no longer what they used to be. A family for example likes a cell of society which also mirrors the general mood of a country. As we know the Chinese have very strong family ties. But with the emergence of a “modern” concept to families people find that problems like high divorce rate and extramarital affairs become more serious than ever before.

Another example: the name of Lei Feng who was always ready to lend a helping hand to others used to be known by almost all Chinese as a model to learn from. But today some people claim that “the spirit of Lei Feng” is outdated. Fashionable ideas say money talks. In the early stage of the market economic development the appearance of some evil phenomena is not surprising. But we should not sit passively by and let it run rampant. Instead active measures should be taken to improve morals and ethics of the public.

Personally the media should play a leading role in this regard. They should spare no effort to praise the good and criticize the evil.
