端午节为每年农历五月初五，又称端阳节、午日节、五月节、五日节、艾节、端五、重午、午日、夏节，本来是夏季的一个驱除瘟疫的节日。端午节是我国汉族人民的传统节日，这一天必不可少的活动逐渐演变为吃粽子，赛龙舟，挂菖蒲、蒿草、艾叶、薰苍术、白芷，喝雄黄酒。据说，吃粽子与赛龙舟，是为了纪念屈原，所以解放后曾把端午节定名为“诗人节”，以纪念屈原。至于挂菖蒲、艾叶，薰苍术、白芷，喝雄黄酒，则据说是为了避邪。“中国端午节”为国家法定节假日之一，并列入世界非物质文化遗产名录。历代有大量诗、词、歌、赋等文学作品传世。

此说最早出自南朝梁代吴均《续齐揩记》与南朝宗懔《荆楚岁时记》。据说，屈原投汨罗江后，当地百姓闻讯马上划船捞救，一直行至洞庭湖，始终不见屈原的尸体。那时，恰逢雨天，湖面上的小舟一起汇集在岸边的亭子旁。当人们得知是为了打捞贤臣屈大夫的时候，再次冒雨出动，争相划进茫茫的洞庭湖。为了寄托哀思，人们荡舟江河之上，此后才逐渐发展成为龙舟竞赛。百姓们又怕江河里的鱼吃掉他的身体，就纷纷回家拿来糯米团投入江中，以免鱼虾糟蹋屈原的尸体，后来就成了吃粽子的习俗。看来，端午节吃粽子、赛龙舟与纪念屈原相关，有唐代文秀《端午》诗为证：“节分端午自谁言，万古传闻为屈原。堪笑楚江空渺渺，不能洗得直臣冤。”

This winter is freezing cold. I didn’t have any desire to go out for play.

A book exhibition

Dropped in at National Library to see the National Book Exhibition which will close today. Suprised at the fact that so many kinds of books are published in our country. Thought the childrens books with many pages of colorful illustrations were made very nicely. Bought a copy of the Chinese version of English and American Short Stories at a 20 per cent discount. Am going to read this through in this good season for reading.

端午节的由来是这样的：古时候有个叫屈原的人，他跳江了，人们就做了一些粽子往江里扔，让鱼儿吃粽子，不要吃屈原的尸体。

端午节要吃粽子，赛龙舟。它还有很多的名字：端阳节，女儿节……

今天我们举行了包粽子活动，比赛开始了，我们先把粽叶弄成圆锥形，把米放进去，最后再把米用粽叶裹起来，用绳子绑好，一个粽子就完成了。包粽子的过程中，我们遇到的困难是粽叶太硬了，

My father took me out fishing today. At the beginning, we spent a long time

waiting there but there was no fish. I was very impatient and didnt want to

stay there. I wanted to come home. Father said to me, "Dont give up everything

easily. We should keep on trying hard".

不过，我从课外书上看到过，知道端午节的意义是屈原的伟大爱国主义精神。传说端午节就是为了纪念屈原。屈原是战国时的楚国大臣，由于敌国实施反间计，朝中的奸臣又对他进行无耻的诽谤，使屈原遭到国君的冷落并被放逐。但是，屈原的爱国之情并没有因此而受影响，反而变得更加激烈，当他听到国家沦亡之时，愤怒而无奈的屈原投江自杀了。

千百年来，中华人民始终怀着深厚的感情纪念屈原。我认为，屈原的忧国忧民、忠贞不渝的爱国主义精神在任何时候、任何地方，都是凝聚国家和民族团结的精神支柱，他深深地感动着一代又一代的中国人，也深深地感动着我。作为一个中学生的我，最起码，现在要好好学习，长大才能振兴中华，做一个对国家有贡献的人。
