The worlds environment is surprisingly healthy. Discuss. If that were an examination topic, most students would tear it apart, offering a long list of complaints: from local smog(烟雾)to global climate change, from the felling(砍伐)of forests to the extinction of species. The list would largely be accurate, the concern legitimate. Yet the students who should be given the highest marks would actually be those who agreed with the statement. The surprise is how good things are, not how bad.

After all, the worlds population has more than tripled during this century, and world output has risen hugely, so you would expect the earth itself to have been affected. Indeed, if people lived, consumed and produced things in the same way as they did in 1900 , the world by now would be a pretty disgusting place: smelly, dirty, toxic and dangerous.

That is why todays environmental problems in the poor countries ought, in principle, to be solvable.

Raw materials have not run out, and show no sign of doing so. Logically, one day they must: the planet is a finite place. Yet it is also very big, and man is very ingenious. What has happened is that every time a material seems to be running short, the price has risen and, in response, people have looked for new sources of supply, tried to find ways to use less of the materials, or looked for a new substitute. For this reason prices for energy and for minerals have fallen in real terms during the century. The same is true for food. Prices fluctuate, in response to harvests, natural disasters and political instability; and when they rise, it takes some time before new sources of supply become available. But they always do, assisted by new farming and crop technology. The long-term trend has been downwards.

当然，要想写出好文章，多多读书以及在生活实践中积累经验都是非常必要的。但是也应该看到，为了进行新的工作，从事新的创造，从书本上得来的知识就只能作为原料来运用。任何书本知识都不能直接变为简报、讲稿、文艺创作或其他任何文章（除非抄袭），这就如同木料不会自动变为家具一样。

再就专业特殊能力的锻炼来说，“读书破万卷”只是突出地锻炼了记忆力，而并未强调对感受、联想、想像、思维等能力的锻炼，因此也就没有准确而充分地揭示具有综合性的专业特殊能力的养成途径。在一般的读书过程中，大脑各种功能的发动大都是无意的、自发的；只有在目标明确的专业创造和专业写作过程中，为了有效地达到目的，这些功能才非拧成一股绳不可。所以，具有综合性的创造能力主要是在创造的实践中养成；具有综合性的写作能力也主要是在写作实践中养成。不经过创造与写作的直接实践，而认为只要“读书破万卷”，就能“下笔如有神”，那是不可能的。杜甫七岁就写了歌咏凤凰的诗，直到晚年也还是“他乡阅迟暮，不敢废诗篇”，可见他主要是在作诗的实践中成为大诗人的。他说“读书破万卷”，只是强调了一个“必要条件”，我们决不可以把任何一个“必要条件”当作“充分条件”来看。

对于阅读起始的年龄，在我看来，并不局限于识字之后，反之，人从出生的那一天起，就开始了阅读。那时的阅读，可以是广告牌上零星几个大字，抑或是商标上一串串英语字母。即使看不懂，也无伤大雅，因为那只是阅读的第一阶段——体验。阅读，并不需强求体会到作者想表达的每一层深意，阅读先是一种美的体验：体验语言华丽或朴素之美；体验结构错落或工整之美；体验选材新颖或平凡之美……这些体验都是直观而感性的，是人与生俱来的能力。

人类是如何进步的？答曰：由感性变为理性。阅读的进步也是如此，在体验之后就是领会。那位陶潜先生曾在《五柳先生传》中写道：“好读书，不求甚解，每有会意，便欣然忘食。”可见，早在遥远的晋代，领会就已占据了阅读目标中的一席之地。领会是更深一层的体验：领会作者意图；领会特殊含义；领会写作手法。领会的过程，更像是一个分析的过程：为什么春风又“绿”江南岸，而不是又到、又过？为什么东坡正值壮年却要在《江城子》中自称“老夫”？子厚笔下的驴与虎真的仅仅阐述了蠢驴活该被智虎吃的道理吗？凡此种种，都是需要我们在阅读中去领会的。

刚才讲了感性到理性的阅读阶段，颇有“看山不是山，看水不是水”的意味，而阅读的最高境界，类似“看山仍是山，看水仍是水”的玄妙——即是“悟”。俗话说：“腹有诗书气自华。”这“气”从何而来？自然是悟来的。在阅读的天地中渐行渐远，就会发现语言、结构、立意等都不再重要。那些流传千万世的经典，看似平淡无奇，却屹立不倒，正是因为他们给予了我们充足的“悟”的空间：《夸父追日》是“知其不可为而为之”的勇气；《愚公移山》是“子子孙孙无穷匮也，而山不加增，何苦而不平”的远见；《陈涉世家》是“王侯将相宁有种乎”的志向……在悟的过程中，我们体会到了文章字里行间的精气神，并将其吸收、消化。所以说，阅读的最高境界，也是其最根本，就是以文字的灵魂，塑造我们的灵魂。

然而在这个科技迅速发展的年代，传统的纸张阅读方式逐渐被各类电子读物取代，各类公共场合随处可见“低头族”阅读的身影：或是捧着电子书；或是翻着各类社交媒介中零碎的段子。科技已经带我们走向了“碎片化阅读”的时代，我个人并不喜欢这种阅读方式，这种阅读方式如同由各种布片组成的一件衣服，即使每片布都是高级的绫罗绸缎，也毫无美感而言。

话又说回来，“碎片化阅读”能很大程度拓宽我们的知识面，且耗时不多，故可以尝试，但始终不应被当作最主要的阅读方式。

体验、领会、悟得阅读之美，以文字的灵魂重新塑造我们的灵魂。“人本来生于天地之间，却因文明日繁而心萦于世务，身陷于尘网。”由尘网入，自尘网出，阅读万卷书，行走天地间，这就是我眼中的阅读。

书面表达历来是英语教学中一个难点，要想在限定的时间内写出一篇质量上乘的文章，非一日之功。纵观几年来的高考书面表达，我们可以看出，高考英语写作越来越重视情景的设置，要求考生总结自己的感受和见解，给出自己的观点。书面表达又是全面衡量学生英语综合水平的一种测试形式，因此，我们不得不重视。

第一步，写作的内容，要求做到两点— 内容完整、相关。这两点只要考生不粗心，基本都能做到。比如陕西考区的题目，要求写暑假的安排，是一篇正反观点类的议论文。必须注意题目的要求，第一要提出讨论话题，Recently there has been a heated discussion about what the students should do during the summer vacation.(这是一个经典的模版开篇句型)。第二要写出一方面的观点，然后是另一方面的观点，最后提出自己的看法，根据要求缺一不可，否则就会被扣掉相应的分数，这就是完整。再比如，2005年广东考区的成语寓言故事，不仅要描写整个守株待兔的过程，还应该根据要求点名寓意，否则也是不完整，这点只要在课堂上强调，学生是很容易做到的。所谓相关，也就是不要过多出现文中没有的信息，不能过分发挥，一般学生犯此类错误的较少。

第二步，写作中的语法。在阅卷中，一般三个小的语法错误会被扣掉一分，一个大的语法错误(关于谓语的错误)会被扣掉一分。所以，学生应该尽量避免犯语法错误。我在课堂中会强调，对于语法基础薄弱的同学，除了加强自己的语法功底外，就是去背诵我给出的50个最高频用到的句法结构。这些结构不仅正确，而且一定是高考中的有效得分点，即使语法偏弱，记住这些句子然后在考试中使用也能避免学生自己造句中的语法错误，一举两得。比如，倒装句在考试中就很少有同学主动启用，但是一旦正确启用就会收到意想不到的效果，所以我会给出四组倒装句，然后让学生加强运用和练习。这些句子包括：

1、Only when we realize the importance of environmental protection, can we solve the problem of pollution.

2、So precious is time that we can’t afford to waste it.

3、Diligent as he was, he failed in passing the exam.

4、By no means should teenagers get into the habit of smocking.

第三步，连接词的运用，使文章连贯、流畅。我把这些词分为8类，叫做“畅词”，往往学生由于中西方语言的差异，会忽视这一点，所以在授课中会通过大量的练习巩固和加强学生的印象。而且不仅要写，还写出高水平的畅词，因为高考是选拔性考试，要做到“人无我有,人有我优”。比如，“首先”这个表示次序的畅词，一般同学一定想到的是firstly 或者first of all。可是我建议学生启用to begin with, 或者initially (这个是建议水平较好的启用)。“然而”，绝大部分启用but, however，我建议学生采用on the contrary 或者oppositely。

第四步，也是整个课程的核心部分，要强化“复杂、高级”两个概念。为什么是核心呢?因为学生在这一部分没有正确的认识，在平时的学习中老师也没有有意识灌输和训练总结。大部分学生以为只要写出来、写正确就可以拿到高分，其实80-120个单词包括大概10个句子，如果全部是简单的词汇和句型没有办法达到最高档作文的要求。因此，我们强调高级的词汇和高级复杂的句型，不是说全部必须高级，而是必须出现一些才能符合高考作文大纲的要求。在这一步中，我总结的“高分词汇选择原则”、“简单句到复杂句的瞬间转换”、“高分句子写作策略”以及“钻石得分50句”，通过这些理论和实践结合的讲解，学生会感觉成绩的快速提升，效果明显。

时常陷入怀念这一种奇妙的境界，似幻似真，带有青春色彩的事迹一一浮现在脑海。我习惯垂下眼帘，去细细体会其中的乐趣。

每个人喜欢怀念的时期段总是不同，但都有着相同的乐趣，嘴角的那一弧度绽露的是一张洋溢幸福的笑脸。为什么是笑而不是哭？我自己认为是因为人的潜意识对于快乐的事情记忆得更为深刻。

呆滞的目光表明我走入了时光的隧道，在隧道的尽头，你可以发现耳边传来阵阵欢声笑语，这就是我最为怀念的高中时代。看似离我好久远，其实也不过几年而已。光在几年里穿梭的距离其实遥不可及的，带来的岁月在脸庞布上了沧桑的痕迹。
