长城东起山海关，西至嘉峪关。它翻越巍巍群山，穿过茫茫草原，绵延六千七百多公里，是世界八大奇迹之一。如果用长城的条石铺成6米多宽的大道，足以环绕地球三四周有余。它就像一条巨龙盘在有着五千多年历史的华夏大地。在这万里长城中，当属金山岭长城最为壮观，被誉为“万里长城，金山独秀!”

登上承德的金山岭长城，向四周望去，只见周围大大小小的景物尽收眼底，仿佛在我眼前展开了一副雄浑朴实的山水大画：碧蓝的天空一望无垠，翠绿的树木枝繁叶茂，壮观的山峦连绵起伏……再看那长城，它蜿蜒在崇山峻岭之间，立在高山峰顶之上。放眼望去，一眼看不到尽头。在长城上，每隔一段路就有一座烽火台。古时候，只要敌军入侵，烽火台就会燃起狼烟，拉响战斗警报。城墙上还有着一个隔一个的垛口，枪炮眼，用来架设强弓硬弩，守卫城池。墙砖也非常厚实，约有半米厚。这真是一片易守难攻的险地啊!不知道在冷兵器为主的古代，是怎样攻城的呀?不禁感叹道!

金山岭长城还有着用来攻击，打探消息的敌楼;管出入贸易的关隘;用来跑马的马道;阻拦马匹的拦马墙……形式多样，设施齐全，真是古代人民智慧的结晶啊!

如果你去过长城的敌楼，那你一定会发现：敌楼的楼梯非常窄，只可勉强通过一人。其实这样做也是有道理的：用来防止敌人迅速占领整个长城。就算敌人攻破长城，要攻敌楼也没那么好攻。楼道很窄，可令敌人的弓箭手，炮兵，骑兵，铠甲兵全部丧失优势，只能派一个步兵进去单独作战，使其丧失团队优势。而守城士兵又可在宽敞的楼道上放箭，楼道下搏斗，还可架设路障。真是“一夫当关，万夫莫开”的架势啊!如此人工修建出的险峻要塞，反映出古代人民保家卫国的决心。

看着这气势磅礴的万里长城和这一望无际的青山，一股豪迈之情油然而生，我不禁想到了毛泽东的一首词：“天高云淡，望断南飞雁!不到长城非好汉，屈指行程两万……”

建造长城在科技落后的古代是多么艰难啊!长城的每一段路，每一座楼都是用我们祖先的血和汗建成的呀!
