To Regain the Nature of Goodness

—— Review of ‘Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens, is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century.

The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I dont think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodness is one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on peoples honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.

Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.

The narrator of the story,Amir ,is born in a rich family.Hassan is his servant as well as close friend.They both lose mother from birth and grow up like brothers.

From Hassan ,I see the most kind and beautiful soul.He never means to hurt anyone.he protects Amir bravely and has a broad mind to endure what Amir do to him.With the promise to run the kite,he hands the last cut kite to Amir though he has insulted by the bully,Assef. for lifetime,he cherishes the friendship,even he dies of protecting Amirs house."For you,a thousand times over"he does as he says…

If Hassan can be described as an angel, then Amir is just a person.when he is a boy,he is badly want fathers love and care.he will be jealous,he will fear and be cowardly.When he sees Hassan insulted by Assef,he is so scared that he only hides and watches.he sees what happened but keeps it as a secret.In order to escape the guilt,he makes another fault, making Hassan leave by framing Hassan .Years past, he is still haunted by betraying his childhood friend.

I was shocked when the big secret reveals: Hassan is Amirs half brother,the son of his father and a sevants wife! Amirs father lives a torturing life,he is torn into two parts.He cant give Hassan the love in the name of a father,which is unfair to Hassan.That explains why he seems care little about Amir …

Knowing the truth,Amir has a painful struggle at the first,and finally chooses the right way,a way of atonement.He rescues Hassans orphan ,Sorhab,from Assefs hand.At that time,he faces up to Assefs fists,being a man not cowardly.Having gone though a lot of difficulties,he finally brings Sorhab to American.But Sorhab is emotional damaged by adversity.Amir make efforts to revive the little heart.At the end of the story,Sorhab shows a lopside smile,which delights Amir much.Amir run kite for Hassans son,and says what Hassan once said,"for you, a thousand times over".The snow will be melt,and the spring is coming…The ending is not clearly told,but full of hope.

I like the author written style.Theres paragraghs of internal monologues,warm memorys , sad plots,horrible war scenes…the words,sentences always catch me tightly,make me think,make me cry…Now if someone ask me what novels impressed me most,The Kite Runner will be an answer.

It is the first time I have seen a novel in English.It is hard for me to insist on reading as there are so many words I have to look up.But it really benefit me in some way.

公司楼下开了一个书店，每天中午的休息时间我就去翻翻书。

《追风筝的人》是朋友在BLOG上推荐的，她说看了欲罢不能，激起她了解阿富汗的冲动，于是她又看了这个阿富汗作家的第二本写阿富汗的书《灿烂千阳》。

第一本我已经读完，第二本读到一半，有点读不下去了。作者的语言太贴近生活，两本书很相似。

其实读完第一本，我感受颇多，两个阿富汗小孩一起长大，其间经历了太多我们想象不到的事情，这些故事激发我思考“朋友的真正含义”。书中真挚、细腻的语言十分生活化，让我读起来很流利；但故事却很是沉重，读完让人忧郁，也许作者就是想让读者了解阿富汗人性中抑郁产生的原因。

书中男主人公对儿时伙伴的感情，从愧疚，自责，到了解真相后冒着生命危险面对过去自己懦弱的一面，主人公的心路历程与故事的情节一起跌宕起伏。

第二本书还没读完，感觉两本书的情节很相像，只不过是刻画了两个女性的成长经历，也不知道是译者的原因还是作者刻意的结果，书中一些场景的描写都十分的相像。弄得人经常把两本书的内容混了一起。

总之，两本书让我了解了阿富汗这个陌生的国度，了解了那儿人们的生活习性，经历的灾难和他们顽强的求生精神。

喀布尔的苏丹只属于阿米尔和哈桑的树。《追风筝的人》是以风筝为主线，讲述主人公阿米尔和他爸爸仆人哈桑之间的故事，阿米尔与哈桑从小一起长大，喝着同样的母乳，父亲的成功令少年时期的阿米尔极度的想成为与他一样的成功，但不论是成绩、勇气、才气等阿米尔从来都没有成功过，阿米尔看到父亲的失望，在一次风筝巡回赛中，阿米尔看到父亲的喜悦——阿米尔获得了第一名，但这次的事件也是阿米尔与哈桑关系的破裂，为了帮助阿米尔少爷拿回割下的风筝，哈桑对着阿米尔说“为你，千千万万遍”。日落傍晚，阿米尔寻找哈桑，却看到阿塞夫对哈桑的残虐，阿米尔想冲上去，可他却逃离了，一逃就是26年。阿米尔自导自演了一场哈桑盗窃的罪行，他们离开了，阿米尔以为的解放、救赎，不过是另一场硝烟的开始。中年时期的阿米尔成为了一名作家，在美国他与以为美丽的贵族小姐接了婚。一次拉辛汗的通话令阿米尔认清自己的错误，更令人惊讶的是阿米尔一直认为的仆人哈桑是父亲的私生子，是自己同父异母的兄弟，为了弥补自己的最近，阿米尔踏上回到与哈桑一起生活的地方，想起自己曾估计生涩的字来为难哈桑，更用卑劣的手段逼走了他。阿米尔找到哈桑的儿子索拉博，可在战争、种族歧视的氛围下索拉博的早已奔溃，阿米尔痛苦，为自己的罪行感到痛恨。最终的结尾阿米尔带着索拉博放风筝，索拉博也露出了微笑。这本书的结局并不完美，故事的结尾索拉博的不语与微笑，让我不禁潸然泪下，但也如负重释，阿米尔追过，救赎过，也勇敢面对了自己，有些苦涩与酸楚，但人的一生就是这样，犯错，错过，再用一生来弥补。

《追风筝的人》后半本书都在写主人公的自我心灵救赎，书中的感情不仅仅是亲情、友情、爱情，当读者静心阅读时，可以感受到主人公所做的行为但是现实生活中人们的真实反应，作者的笔就如一把尖锐的刀，直插人心，将人性真实的刻画：阿米尔打算逼走哈桑时的快意与迟疑，危急关头的懦弱无助，亲人面临危险的慌乱，爱情乍到时的浮躁与不安……追风筝的人，童年的风筝对于阿米尔来言是自私，他看到父亲对哈桑的无限包容，他嫉妒了;中年的风筝对于阿米尔来言是真正的救赎、自由，阿米尔用背负生命的代价，理解生命的意义，即使哈桑已经不在了，但阿米尔永远记住那赤城的友情。

读书像是品茶，哭、涩、甜一一品味，人生如茶，浮沉随便。假如真的有时光穿梭机，阿米尔回到那个属于他和哈桑的山丘上，阿米尔醒来满脸泪水，哈桑紧紧拥抱着阿米尔，安慰道：“阿米尔少爷，为你，千千万万遍，不要哭泣了”，阿米尔回拥哈桑，哽咽道：“啊!我的朋友，我亲爱的哈桑!我希望我们可以长长久久的生活在一起，我为我曾经对你的行为道歉，为你，我千千万万遍”。

《追风筝的人》这本书在六年级的时候我妈就给我买回来了，原因很简单：这是美国前总统奥巴马，给他女儿的新年礼物。我想这本书被奥巴马相中，不仅是因为情节扣人心弦心弦，更是因为书中故事真实，震撼人心。

读完这本书，心灵已经被洗涤、被震撼。战争，种族清洗在我们现在中国儿童的眼里是多么遥不可及，但在我离我们很远的东亚，战乱不断。书中的阿米尔和哈桑是情同手足的朋友，但实际上他们是同父异母的兄弟，但因为哈桑是哈扎拉人，所以哈桑十分招人排斥。（也可能是因为他的兔唇。）

哈桑和阿米尔的故事，让我想到一句话：真心的朋友是在你离开时哭泣，虚假的朋友是在你哭泣时离开。用这句话，形容再合适不过了。知心都是赤诚相待，而虚伪的朋友都是在你最需要帮助的时候漠然离开。阿米尔难道不是这样吗？就是阿米尔虐哈桑千百遍，哈桑还是会待阿米尔如手足，为他千千万万遍。

近日读了本《乔布斯传》，虽然一直是APLLE粉，但对乔布斯却知之甚少，读后深为之痴迷，这是一个不可思议的人，一个改变了世界的人，虽然他的人生之旅是如此之短暂，却足以让众多活着的人汗颜……

他拥有并不完美的童年，但他的养父信守承诺，为了能去乔布斯满意的大学甚至不惜搬家换工作，乔布斯是个有着梦想与并执着的人，为了实现自己“活着就是为了改变世界”的梦想，不惜放弃大学学业，即使在他最困难的时候被自己创办的苹果抛弃，也从未放弃过。最终，在那个崇尚创新的社会，他实现了自己的梦想，他与他的团队正是美国以及全人类所追求的“创新精神”的代名词。从某种意义上讲，乔布斯的成功也许是美国的人性自由，个性化教育及创新精神的完美结合。

衷心希望我们中国能够拥有自己的“乔布斯”，能够拥有一批有梦想，有创新精神的企业家队伍，以‘活着就是为了改变世界“的魄力，振我中华之雄风。我想，要想实现这些，需要我们改变的太多了，死板的教育方式，纯净的创业环境，正确的财富观……也许不是一代人的努力，从我做起吧!

放笔之际，耳畔又想起了乔布斯对斯卡利说的那句名言‘你是想卖一辈子糖水，还是想改变世界’。

第一次读这本书的时候，它给我的感觉是深沉的，懊悔的。我能感觉得到作家写它时的沉重，忏悔和渴望赎罪。

这本书和其他的小说不同。这本书全文的感情一直很平稳，没有刻意加工的大起大落，全文像流水一般流畅，以平淡的字句反映出了内心深处的感受，给我，给读者的心灵带来了极大的撼动。一般讲人性的书都会以一种黑暗的角度来描述，其实这种书我一点不喜欢，因为它们大多都很压抑，我亦不喜欢那些书的作者，因为他们给人一种卖弄学识以及阅历的感觉。而追风筝的人的作者却真实的让人感觉到他心中的情感，丝毫不做作。

我喜欢文中的哈桑，因为他忠诚，真诚。他不仅一次的对阿米尔说为你，千千万万，每当我看见这句话，我的心中都充满了感动和震撼。哈桑对阿米尔的感情绝对是的，我想他真的拿阿米尔当朋友，而且是可以献出生命的那种。但阿米尔不那么想，他从不把哈桑当朋友，他嘲笑他昧，甚至于在看到哈桑被欺负时，选择独善其身。尽管他事后很懊悔和羞愧，但正因这份懊悔和羞愧，他犯下了更严重的错误。他陷害了哈桑，陷害他偷东西。哈桑和他的父亲离开了，但哈桑对阿米尔的感情还未终止。

当阿米尔和父亲到了美国时，他对在阿富汗的哈桑感到非常抱歉，当他回到阿富汗想要赎罪时，却被告知身为他弟弟的哈桑已经死了，只留下了一个儿子还在继续受苦。阿米尔费尽千辛万苦把他从自己的老敌人手里救出来，并带到自己身边抚养。当他和侄子一起放风筝的时候，他仿佛又看见了儿时快乐的自己。

我们每一个人都是追风筝的人，或是赎罪，或是追梦，其实这并没有什么条件，但我们一定要去追，要有追的勇气。

放风筝的人在前面跑，而追风筝的人一心一意的在后面追，或许这也是一种幸福吧。

假期刚开始，我就看完了《追风筝的人》。

这篇长篇小说讲述的是阿富汗地区的两个孩子的故事，一个叫做阿米尔，一个叫做哈桑。哈桑是阿米尔的仆人，他一直把阿米尔当作自己的朋友，但是因为阿米尔看他地位低下，所以从没把他当作真正的朋友，只是当作一个玩伴，这也让哈桑十分悲哀。

在他们那个地方，每年都会有一次放风筝的比赛，赢者可以获得无上的荣誉，阿米尔自身的努力以及哈桑的帮助，他获得了冠军，而这一举使那个地区的“小霸王”，另一个富家少爷十分地不快活，因此他和他的一群伙伴找到了哈桑，痛扁了他一顿。但是阿米尔目睹了整个事件的经过，却无法帮助哈桑。最后，哈桑和他的父亲离开了他的家。因为战乱，这个富家子弟不得搬到美国。不知不觉他已经中年。他带着悔意，回到了家乡，却看到了民不聊生，硝烟弥漫，让他不能忘记的祖国——阿富汗。

他听说了哈桑被那些士兵枪毙在街头，死于非命。阿米尔的悔意更加深刻。他也得知哈桑唯一的儿子索拉博落入了阿米尔儿时的对手——也正是在巷子里对哈桑下毒手的那个人手中，在那个小巷子里发生的一切一切，都在阿米尔的脑袋里回旋，他久久不能平静……

终于，阿米尔救回了索拉博，但是他的心灵已经收到了重创，他已经忘了怎样笑，他几乎快要疯了。他，是那样的可怜，失去了父母，失去了爱……

是的，阿米尔犯错了，一个不可赦免的错，这个错误让他在以后的日子里失眠，在一个又一个夜晚里翻来覆去，他不能原谅自己，哈桑也不能原谅他。这篇小说让我感受到，一旦犯下了错，就无法挽回，再多的救赎，也不能弥补，就算是小错也是这样，这也更让我觉得，现在我们所拥有的东西，一定要珍惜。等到失去它们的那一天，才会知道它们有多么珍贵。

作者用最细腻的手法，描写了人类各种各样的情感，爱，恨，悔，失落，伤心，开心，大笑……我真切地感受到，主人公内心真实的感受。没有什么华丽的辞藻，却让读者感受到最真挚的经历。

战争改变了阿富汗，改变了阿富汗的一切一切……战争让许多人在绝望中死去。文中有一个令我记忆深刻的片段：在阿米尔和他的父亲坐着偷运人去别地逃难的人的车上，空气令人窒息，还有难闻的气味。车上有一个阿米尔认识的人，硬是死在了车上，他的父亲，在车上，拿着枪，射进了自己的喉咙，血流了一地……这个镜头让我久久不能平静。
