I understand your well-respected college offers a number of places to overseas students every year, and I am writing to enquire about the application procedure.

I am at present a student at Mary High School, Hong Kong, where I have been studying for the past five years. I passed the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination last year with distinctions in English and History, and credits in Economics and English Literature. My advanced-level subjects are History, Economics and English Literature. 记得那时，班主任经常和我说，你如果把数理化这三门课也像史地一样的学，那成绩一定就上去的。这时，我都是低着头，小声的回答：“恩。”其实我的心里在说：“史地我就没好好学过，只是看书的时候不知不觉就记下了。数理化这三门只是我一定发愤学的，可是成绩上不去，我也不知道怎么办，只能归结说，自己天生学这三门课的料。”

由于物理成绩不好，一直觉得物理老师不会记住我。但有一次，中学同学聚会，物理老师也在。吃完饭后，同学们都围着老师聊天，由于自己物理不好，所以物理老师我也是最后去聊天的。当我坐在他面前，对他说：“王老师，会不会记得我是谁呢?”他笑着说：“当然记得，你是。和中学时长得一样，只是胖一些而已。

”当时，我听到老师还记得我时，很感动，因为在上学时，很少和物理老师聊天的。我笑了，回答道：“王老师，谢谢你还记得我，我以为我物理学得不好，你不是记得我。”王老师摇着头说：“不会的，你们班，我对你的印象很深，因为你史地学得好，老师们在办公室聊天时，总会说起，但你的物理学得不好，是不是?当然也不是全不好，只是到复杂的计算时，你学得不好而已。现在呢，怎么样，物理好些了吗?”我摇头说：“依旧不好。所以我学的文科。

”之后，王老师又说了我很多在学校时的事，还说我是个认真努力的孩子。听了之后，有种想哭的感觉。因为，自己一直觉得在学习上，虽然我内心想努力去学，但是在行为上，我总是不当回事的去干，同学们有时会说我，你能不能认真的去做一个事。可是今天，多年不见的老师，说我是个认真努力的孩子，真是很感动。

聚会后，我没有留王老师的联系方法，因为我想，也许哪一天我再次见到他时，想“惊喜”的告诉他，我的物理成绩提高了，但依旧没有史地的成绩好……

I like to watch movie so much, because I can learn a lot of things. Comedy

is my favorite type of movie. Every time when I watch it, I will laugh out

loudly. I find so much fun in comedy. It helps me to be humorous and make a lot

of friends. A humorous person is always favored by all, as he can bring

happiness.

Last week, I visited the geological museum with my best friend, Liu Bing.

It was my first time to go there. The moment we arrived there, we found that the

building was grand. When we walked into it, there was a big hall in front of us.

And then there were several rooms to show different kinds objects. There was a

room for collecting scripts and paintings. There was another room to store

clothes and shoes in the old times. The next room was for collecting the daily

necessities in the old days. In a word, all the things in it had a long history.

I learnt some knowledge from it.

现在，因为袁隆平爷爷发明出了杂交水稻，水稻的产量已不是问题，但却有许多人在水稻还没成熟时就被活活饿死，这个问题一直让大家很烦恼：怎样才能让植物长得又快又好呢?

这一天，我在家思索着这个问题，住在我隔壁的大哥哥告诉我，和我们住一个小区的孙博土发明了一种可以让植物迅速生长的仪器!我听后顿时感到不可思议，和大哥哥飞奔到孙博士家门口。我一进门问好后便开门见山，说了我来这儿的目的：来看看能让植物快速生长的仪器。孙博士看到我那一双好奇的眼睛，便笑着拿了出来。仪器很小，基本上只有一块橡皮那么大。

我很不解，这么小的东西能起到加快生长速度的作用?孙博士看我不解的样子便说：“你别看它这么小，它还就真的能起到这种作用!”说着，便领着我们来到他用来实验的苗圃，挖了一个小坑，将几粒稻种263放进坑里，又将仪器放到离种子的不远处，然后将土坑填实，拿出一个遥控器，轻轻一摁上面的开关键，不一会儿种子变成小芽从地里钻了出来，随后变成绿油油的小苗，最后变成了颗粒饱满、金灿灿的成熟的水稻了。我和大哥哥看得是目瞪口呆，忙问为什么。孙博士笑着说：“其实这是一种超声波，这种超声波对植物产生强大的刺激性，从而使得直径300米范围内的植物快速生长，并且也不会影响到食用时的安全性，可以安心食用。”我听了后心想，太好了!这下大家都能吃饱肚子，再也不用有人因饥饿失去性命了。我连忙夸赞孙博士的厉害，他的发明造福了人类。他摸着我的头说：“只要你们爱观察，勤于思考，并且勇于作出实践，你们也一定能像我一样的!”

是啊，科学，就是要多观察，多思考，多动手，这样你也能学好科学，造福人类。
