Dear Sir,

I am a December 2003 graduate from the University of San Francisco (USF) with a bachelors degree in International Business. As part of my career planning, I am very interested in supplementing my international business education with a basic knowledge of the Chinese language. This I hope will help me enter into business commerce with business organizations partnering with Chinas economic development.

I already have information from BLCU and hope to study there for at least one full year starting with this summers program continuing through the fall and spring semester 2006. Can your office advise me if such scholarships might be available to me?

I have been studying Chinese for one year now. I am not sure what level I belong to. I was told that there will be an HSK test in our university in September. I am planning to attend the test. But I dont know if the result of the test is recognized by your university. If so, can it be a help for me to apply for the scholarship?

有这么一个人，他出现在我的生命里，使我发生了很大的转变，给予我深刻的影响。他就是我的班主任——宋老师。

说实话，刚开始与宋老师接触的时候，我真是特不习惯。以前我的班主任大多都是女老师，即使我平时犯了错误，她们也都是和风细雨地批评，非常温柔。但是这个老师就与众不同，甚至与我的前任班主任简直就是天壤之别。有时候我们犯错了，他会严厉批评教育，不给我们留情面。

如果僅仅是严厉倒也罢了，他还有很多繁琐的规矩，什么“走路抬起脚，轻声慢步上楼梯”啦，“读书声音要响亮”啦，“食不言，寝不语”啦……唉，当时我觉得自己可能是做了什么坏事，才遇到了这样的老师。

那天中午，我多点了几个馒头。可最后一个馒头实在是吃不了了，于是我蹑手蹑脚地走到了垃圾桶旁，准备偷偷地把它扔进去。这一幕偏偏让老师撞见了，他把我拉到一旁严肃地说：“这个馒头这么好吃，你为什么要把它扔了?”我一脸不屑：“不就是一个小小的馒头嘛!又不值钱，需要这么小题大做吗?”我小声嘀咕着。

谁知，被老师听到了：“这仅仅是一个馒头的问题吗?这个馒头从生产再到加工经过了多少道工序，多少人的付出和努力才将它生产出来，你说扔就扔了，这就是不尊重别人的劳动，是否还有做人的底线?”想一想，老师的话确实没错，这使我感到很愧疚。从此，我的盘子里再也没有一点儿剩饭，不仅仅是我，全班同学都自觉地做起了光盘族。“谁知盘中餐，粒粒皆辛苦”，古人都明白这个道理，何况是我们呢?

老师不仅是一个严厉的人，他还特别温柔。在一次升旗仪式上，可能是因为时间太长或者是没吃早饭，我前面的那位同学身体有些晃动，就在她要倒下的那一刻，一双大手把她扶住了，是老师!老师轻轻地扶着她坐在了地上，并关切地问：“你怎么样了，是否哪里不舒服?今早上是否吃过早餐了?”看着老师关切的眼神，听着老师温暖的话语，我的心里也暖暖的。

这就是我的老师，一位朴实的老师，一位严厉而又温柔的老师，正因为有了这样一位老师，才使我明白了许多做人的道理，我将不断地严格要求自己，努力使自己成为一个有理想、敢担当的人。

you always arrive at the classroom ahead of any of the students, from which we could imply that you are a diligent man with regular habit. before the class, you like to talk to us, at this very time, you are more a friend than a teacher. to be honest, i was surprised in the first class when i learned a teacher at your age could speak english insuch a fluent way.(i didnt mean you are old, youre young at heart.) moreover, you know well how to keep your class attractive. youve got such an active mind that you can keep talking during the whole class without a pause. i always appreciated your ideas and enjoyed listening to you. in your class, i learned not only the writing skills but also the presentation skills as well as much knowledge of other areas. thanks for your excellent teaching.

ive got some suggestions for you. it seems that we students have got few chances to participate in discussion during the class time. most of the time, we are listening. seldom did we express our own ideas. i suggest that teachers should interact with students more frequently in the class. besides, id like to practice writing more, so would you please leave us more assignments?

Recently, the problem of environmental pollution is getting more and more

serious. The air pollution, noise pollution and water pollution are found on the

newspaper everywhere. It is obvious that we should do something to protect our

earth. Because we have only one home. We should try our best not to pollute the

environment and appeal the people around us make their effort to protect our

unique home.

Remember last years summer vacation, my father and I went for a walk EHu edge, a way, Im kind of shouted thirsty, so my father on the side of the road store bought me a Popsicle. I ate and go, soon finished eating, carelessly threw the ice sticks into EHu. Dad saw, reminded me immediately; "Coco, cant litter oh! If everyone like you to throw garbage in the lake, the beautiful EHu lake becomes waste." Im ashamed of say: "know, next time I must not litter." Dad smiled and stroked my head and said: "the earth is our home, we should protect it, cherish it, let the sky bluer, the water cleaner, the grass is greener." 今天，我们读了很多关于保护环境的小短文。我想起曾经在我身边发生的事情。

记得是去年的暑假，我和爸爸一起去鹅湖边散步，走了一段路，我就一个劲的喊口渴，于是，爸爸就在路边的小店给我买了根冰棍。我边吃边走，一会儿就吃完了，随手把冰棍棒往鹅湖里一扔。爸爸看见了，马上提醒我说;“可可，不能乱扔垃圾噢!如果每个人都像你一样往湖里扔垃圾，这美丽的鹅湖不就变成了垃圾湖了。”我羞愧的说：“知道了，我下次一定不乱扔垃圾。”爸爸微笑着抚摸我的头说：“地球也是我们的家，我们应该保护它，爱护它，让天更蓝，水更清，草更绿。”我调皮的说：“噢，那就是大家一直说的，城市是我家，环境清洁靠大家。我明白了。”让从那以后，我再也不乱扔垃圾了。

我想爱护环境与每个人息息相关，所以要从每个人做起!

可能有人在背后骂过老师，鄙视老师，可我们有想过老师有多少辛苦吗？

我们景老师六年级开始担任我们这个班。我们这个班可以说是学校里最不好的，有人劝过老师说：“这个班各方面都不好，还是不要教了。”老师却说，同样是班，我就不信这个班不行。

老师说：“即使浪费一节数学课，也要给我们上思想课，只要思想正确了，其他各项会进步的。

为了使我们的学习进步，老师办了奥数班、同步班、作业班。

有的家长会说，在学校不好好教，非要办什么辅导班，她就是想赚钱。

有天，有家长投诉给校长，说我们老师办什么什么补习班，她就是想什么什么。

老师……她……哭了，她才27岁，鲜花绽放的年龄，她给了学校，送给了我们。

之后，老师说不办补习班了。

那天，老师走后，我们的心情很低落，像是沉沦到了谷底。我和几个要好的小伙伴，商量着明天怎么去老师家，买什么礼物，怎么安慰她。

周六相约，我们来到集合的地方，一起买礼物，一个车挤好几个人，但我们却没人抱怨。我想这是不是我们班真正的面目，不调皮，不是只有自己没有他人，我们的本性是好的，是心中有集体的。

来到老师家，老师没在，我们在这等。看见门口都是玉米，我们却不由自主的挷玉米。这又是我们班的真面目，那么热情、爱帮助他人、那么可爱。

之后老师来了，我们便去她家里。

老师肯定没有想到，这一群曾经被别人不认好的孩子，会主动地安慰老师，带给老师温暖。

我们很快乐，快乐的忘了时间。

但那个投诉校长的人，我们至今都不知道。我们也不想去追究，有些不开心的事，能过去的就过去，就像老师说的，开心是一天，不开心又是一天，何不开开心心的过好每一天呢？

其实每个学生的本性都不是坏的，只是有时会迷失了自己，只要你给他一个指南针，他便会重新找到希望，找到曾经的自己。

在以后的日子，我们有欢笑、有痛苦、有骄傲、有失落。

那些说我们老师的人，我告诉你们，老师赚的钱是她多少辛苦和汗水换来的。

期末，我们更加努力，因为我们不想让那个笑起来比花都美的老师失望。

我们在最后的时刻，那么认真，我们一星期可以做一套卷纸，我们可以天天写好几张卷纸，我们可以每天留到晚上六点多甚至七点多，我们可以哪道题错了我们抄十遍，我们可以写作业写几个小时，我们可以的还有许多许多。

只要努力就要回报。我们在期末，语文年级第二，数学年级第一，英语年级第一，总评第一。想当初回回都是倒数的我们这次的成绩这么好，谁最辛苦，谁在我们考试的时候最紧张，除了她还有谁？

十一个一百分，二个九十九分，数不胜数的九十多分。

谁说我们不行，谁说不可能，谁说没有奇迹？

这是谁的汗水，这是谁的辛苦，这是谁的成果？

My winter vacation

我的寒假

During the winter vacation, nothing is different for my life. I wake up 11 o’clock Am everyday, after a washing, I have a good lunch with my parents. Next I play computer games till the time to have supper. After have dinner. I go on playing till 2 o’clock Am, and then go to sleep with tired. This is one dull day of my winter vacation.

寒假期间，我的生活没有什么不同的。我每天十一点醒来，洗完碗后，与我的父母吃丰盛的午餐。之后我玩电脑游戏，玩到吃晚饭的时候。晚餐后。我继续玩游戏玩到凌晨两点，然后去睡觉了。这就是寒假我暗淡无光的一天生活。

And I also meet some of my good friends during the vacation ,we have a very long talk about the life of each other in the past year and play table tennis tegether .And I watched the spring festival party of the CCTV in the last seconds of the 2011 year! 六年的时光转眼就过了，感觉就像做了一场长长的梦，梦醒了，就要离开这个生活了六年的母校了。真有点舍不得啊!舍不得朝夕相处的同学们，舍不得慈祥和蔼的老师们，更加舍不得这所美丽漂亮的学校。

还记得我刚踏入这所美丽校园时候的情景，整齐干净的教学楼，宽阔的操场，花坛里的月季仍在绽放，亲切的老师，和我一样无知的同学们……现在，这里的一切我都了如指掌，这里就像我的家一样。

从沉沉的梦醒来后，我感觉自己的头变得很尖，手也没法动弹。我猛地惊醒过来，发现我变成了一架战斗机，正在工厂里!

我被指派到了空军，卡车刚刚把我运到那后，就走过来一批机械师，把我开到了工厂里。那些机械师看了我后，对其他人说：“这架飞机做得很精致，比别的飞机优秀很多!”我很开心，但我刚想说话时，才发现丧失了语言能力。他们给我装上了好多台发射器，甚至给我装上了隐身器和喷射器。在他们给我做保养时，我感觉很痒，但是笑不出来。

忽然，铃声大作，上级指派我有任务，我心里非常紧张：这是我第一次单飞，我好害怕!机械师给我加满了油，飞行员便驾驶着我扬长而去。

飞着飞着，不一会儿，遇到了一股强大的气流。我的身体开始剧烈地抖动起来，千万把住“方向盘”啊!我忐忑不安地想，啊!稳住!飞行员刚带我冲出气流，在我的视线里出现了两架不明飞行器，一股寒气冲上了我的脑袋，一打二，打不过啊!

只见流弹向我飞了过来，我赶紧侧身躲开了。对方的火力像暴雨一样涌了过来，激光从我身边飞过的声音都很清晰，虽然我努力在躲开，但还是挨了几下，好痛啊!我开始扫射，两架飞行器躲来躲去，什么都没打中。一架突然向我俯冲而来，我的脑子里飞快的闪过一个念头，便打开喷气机，也向它冲了过去，在即将撞上的那一刹那，我忽然改变了方向，绕至它的机后，向它发射了一枚激光弹，击中了!我击落了一架，而另一架此时也冲了过来，我开启了“隐身器”和它玩起了“躲猫猫”——我飞到左边打一下，飞到右边打一下。它发现了，便冲向左边，但我在它后面，用激光打破了引擎，它便坠了下去，我又发了一个火箭，把它彻底毁灭了。

我们凯旋归来，其他飞行员都对我们赞叹不已。我和我的飞行员都很高兴。机械师给我修理时，我太累了，便睡了过去。

Dear Sir,

I am writing to apply for a British Council scholarship to study in Britain. I did my five years basic training in medicine at Shanghai University. After this I successfully completed a one-year postgraduate course in Ophthalmology at the Peoples General Hospital, where I am at present serving a two-year probation in the Eye Clinic.

As a result of the publication in 2003 of my article in New Scientist entitled "Soft and Rigid Contact Lenses ", which was based on a survey of 37 patients over 6 months, I made contact with Dr. Li Ming of the Capital Hospital and Dr. Ma Li of the University College Hospital. I have received their help and advice with my current research project, which is a two-year survey of the acceptance of various types of contact lenses in 200 patients.

Despite their help, I feel that I cannot make real progress in this field unless I can actually have day-to-day contact with these specialists. I would therefore like to continue my research at either the Capital Hospital or the UCH as soon as my probationary period here is completed, and I would like to study in Britain for two years.

I enclose a detailed curriculum vitae and an offprint of my article, together with two letters of recommendation from Dr. Li Ming and Dr. Ma Li.

我希望能够将秦王带回燕国，所以我用钱买通了宠臣蒙嘉，使他带我进宫，熟悉地形，以便安然退出。

当天晚上，我换上宦官服饰，由蒙嘉带着偷偷入宫。恰逢秋日，这萧萧秋风竟吹得我心中有些凉意，我紧握袖中之剑，突然看见远处，华盖龙灯，竞拥出一群人来，原来正是暴君赢政。我偷偷跟在人群之后，寻找机会。不久后，来到了秦王议政之所。他吩咐我们呆在门外，便与丞相李斯进去了。

只听见里面有谈话之声，我侧耳倾听，对话中充满了一个帝王庞大的野心。其中一段对话，竟改变所有人的命运。秦王问李斯“寡人欲一统天下，汝言是否可成。”李斯道：“今秦国地险民富，良将如云，此乃帝王之资，王必可一扫天下。”秦王曰“汝可知当世谁为英雄”李斯道：“不知”，秦王曰：“夫英雄者，胸怀大志，有包藏宇宙之机，吞吐天地之能者。寡人力促天下一统，到时宇内升平，百姓安居乐业，寡人便可成英雄。其余诸人如赵王，齐王等皆冢中枯骨，不足道之。”……

我回到了住所，这天晚上，我辗转难眠，心中自问道：“现今秦国民富国强，六国不可与其争锋，一统天下，指日可待。到时天下太平，不再有战火纷飞。我今若杀赢政，对天下苍生真的有益吗?可我不能辜负太子的知遇之恩，到底孰轻孰重。”终于，一夜之思，我有了选择……

图穷匕现，我没有杀他;环柱而走，我没有杀他;飞掷利匕，我仍没有杀他。直到剑光闪过，我被砍断了一条腿。我倚柱而立，我要保持生命最后的尊严。侍卫终于来了，一把利刃向我砍来。刀影中，我见到了自己坚毅的脸庞，我放声大呼道：“谁为英雄!”

As we all know, pollution is harmful to living beings. There are many

different types of pollutions in this world. For instance, water pollution, air

pollution, noise pollution and so on. Water pollution cause many kinds of

disease that have negative effects on human beings, sometimes the diseases will

take people’s life away. Dirty air will increase the rate of getting lung

cancer. While the noise pollution will cause insomnia. People’s health condition

will be damaged.

In my humble opinion, people should take measures to control the pollution.

Recently, not only the government, but also individual has taken part in the

action of protecting the environment. This is a good sign. Rivers are being

cleaned, air is purified, and the people come to realize that the importance of

protecting the environment.

However, this is not enough, the problems are still exist. Not all of them

have been solved. Some factories are still pouring dirty water into the rivers

or give off the toxic gas into the sky. We should know that protecting the

environment needs everybody’s effort.

我要感谢我亲爱的老师，使他们呕心沥血，让我健康成长。 I want to thank my dear teacher to make them worried and let me grow up healthy.

我先要感谢我的语文老师——A老师。是她，手把手教会了我们怎么我笔写字;是她，让我们知道了每个字的正确读音;又是她，一遍又一遍不厌其烦地教我们怎么写好一篇作文......老师的教育方法还真有一套。当我们回答问题出错的时候，她并不是批评我们，而是举一些简单易懂的例子把我们引向正确的答案。这样既不会伤到我们的自尊心，又激发了我们举手发言的积极性。

其次，我还要感谢我的数学老师——B老师。我从小就喜欢数学，成绩也不错，可是我也很马虎，记得有一次考试，我在写答案时把一个小数点漏写了，结果与满分无缘。是他，带着和蔼可亲的笑脸，用亲切的语气告诉我做每一件事都要认真、仔细。从这以后，我渐渐治好了“马虎病”，我又与满分有缘了。

我还要感谢我的英语老师——C老师。她生动有趣的教育方法，让我喜欢上了英语;她标准的口语发音，为我们学习英语打定了良好的基础;她让我们早晚背单词的方法培养了我的学习习惯;她还有一本贴画册，只要是课堂上专心听讲的同学，老师都会给老他们发一张贴画，以示鼓励。

老师，我感谢您!您就像蜡烛默默地燃烧自己，为我们在茫茫学海里指明道路。老师，我感谢您!你就像辛勤的园丁，为我们这些祖国的花朵传授知识。老师，我感谢您!你就是那波涛汹涌的大海，而我是一条小鱼，我在您的怀抱中健康的成长!老师，我感谢您，您让我们从一个目不识丁的孩童变成了一个品德兼优的学生!每天晚上，您还忙着备课、改作业，你的这种敬业精神，值得我们学习!

老师，我感恩您的无私，感恩你的奉献，感恩您对我无微不至的关心和付出，我要向您忠诚的说一句：“谢谢您，老师!”

Friendship is, lock, lock two people tightly together; Friendship is, candy, let two people taste the taste of happiness, friendship is priceless, and everyone needs it.

友谊，它像火红的太阳，照亮了我们成长的路线;它像甘甜的露水，为我们解渴;它又像最闪最亮的星星，每到黑夜，总在天上默默祝福着我们。

友谊，多么响亮的名字啊!它伴我们成长，伴我们玩耍.....友谊无价，是多少金钱都买不回来的。

谁都离不开友谊，珍惜吧!

How is everything going! Tomorrw is Teachers’ Day.I would like to express my sincerely wishes to you. You taught me English inthe primary school. That is the time to lay our foundation.
