太阳每天在升起，潮起潮又落。察克用石头在墙上标记下在岛上度过的日期，椰子水已没有了任何味道，第一口生吃螃蟹应该是天下最美的佳肴，而后来也没有任何味道了。“我发明了火!”当察克兴奋的喊出这句话的时候，我真正的相信这世界的“火”确实是察克发明的。这要比爱迪生发明电灯更加让人振奋，还有比这更有意义的发明吗?

人可以忍受身体的伤痛，可以忍受饥饿，可以忍受寒冷，可是人要怎样才能忍受长期的绝对的孤独呢?还好有怀表里的凯莉，还好有排球变的维信，还好有跟着飘来的邮件。如果说在一个人绝望的时候他最需要什么，不是他对明天还有多大的理想，而是今天是否有朋友在鼓励。这里借一位网友的话：“凯莉的怀表和相片让察克感受到爱情;朋友维信让察克感受到友情;未打开的翅膀邮件让察克感受到责任。”尽管他已猜到凯莉肯定要另嫁他人，朋友维信只不过是他跟自己说话、鼓励自己的一只排球，那份邮件几乎没有继续送到的可能，但对于现在的察克，它们的存在已经够了，已经可以让他感受到爱情，亲情和责任了，已经可以让他继续有勇气生存下去并怀有一丝希冀了。他是多么珍惜这些东西，一次冲动察克把维信扔了出去，他又那样害怕的去找回来“维信，对不起，我再也不丢下你了”。

大海终于给察克送来一面帆——一块破铁皮。这已经弥足珍贵了，他无法再期待上帝会给他带来什么更好的赏赐。察克用尽小岛所有可以取之为绳的东西，做好一个对他来说如同诺亚方舟一样重要的帆船。带上几个椰子，和朋友维信一起，离开这片不敢再想起的独自生存了四年的荒岛，开始寻求重生之航。当他渐渐远离小岛，回头再望时，是怀有怎样复杂的心情，或许万般情绪不能言表，只会在心里对自己感叹“真不敢相信!”

茫茫大海，一叶孤舟，几夜风雨，依然是茫茫大海，海浪无情的把朋友维信带走了，察克意识道他将会像这身边的鲸鱼一样永留大海，可是鲸鱼啊，这里是你快乐的天堂，却是我的坟墓!

货船来了，货船在不早不晚的时候，在察克已经释然的时候终于来了。“在这里我不讨论电影故事情节必须如此安排”。看来察克的生命还不到归期。如若他死了，你，还有我和所有人都不会甘心的。“凯莉——”唯一的最真切的令察克怀有希望活下来的凯莉让察克在看到货船时发出久别的呼唤，“凯莉——”

察克的回来，几乎所有的朋友都比他自己要开心，是的，经过此次大难后，察克不再有大喜大悲，让欢喜留给朋友们。如果说这次经历让查理改变了很多，那么其中之一就是更明白对朋友的支持和鼓励多么重要。在飞机上他对史丹说：“玛丽去世时，我不在，对不起，我应该在你身边给你支持”。

饭后，察克面对一大桌的美餐，当他看到大闸蟹的时候，这个非常普遍的一道菜，曾经成为他救命的食物，现在想想，真是又爱有厌!那个工艺打火机，人类智慧发明的高级打火机，一点都不可爱，再怎么漂亮，也极抵不过我所发明的钻木之火，你怎么就只出现在这个餐桌上，而不是那个小岛上呢!

凯莉，察克所深爱的并且在他心底陪她走过最艰难岁月的凯莉。“我不知道该对她说些什么，我该说些什么呢。”查克快要见到凯莉了!而她先是以为失去了察克，不知所措以后，嫁给了曾为察克看过牙病的牙医卢杰里。现在察克突然出现了，她又不知所措了!还是那句话，终究要面对。雨夜察克驱车赶到凯莉那儿。“有件事情我很想知道”察克说出这句话时凯莉心里早就明白他想知道什么——你怎么嫁给了牙医卢杰里!可是这个原因他们都明白，在岛上察克就已经预见到了这样的结果，如果不是卢杰里，便会是另外的人。但察克是聪明的，导演也是聪明的，察克的问的是：“田纳西的足球队现在在纳什维尔?”“哦，我的天”凯莉如此松了一口气，彼此心知肚明的悲情没有必要再那么明朗的翻开来说。我很赞成导演这么安排。
